Particle accelerators are the driving forces of nuclear physics laboratories and MTA Atomki, the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences is no exception. The Atomki Accelerator Center (AAC) incorporates several low-energy charged-particle accelerators, offering the possibility of choosing ions with various charge states, energies and beam intensities. Currently, the AAC has six main facilities: a cyclotron (K=20), two Van de Graaff accelerators (1 MV, 5 MV), an ECR ion source, an electromagnetic isotope separator and a 2 MV Tandetron installed in 2015. The accelerators, spanning a range of beam energies from 50 eV to 27 MeV, have been designed for a broad range of research projects and applications in various fields - mainly in nuclear and atomic physics, materials science, environmental research and archaeology. Recently, we reported a fullerene modification using neutral-neutral or neutral-ion collision reactions in the two-chamber configuration of the Bio-Nano electron cyclotron resonance ion source (ECRIS). In our methodology, modified fullerenes can be synthesized in vapor-phase in an ECR plasma, or on a surface of a plasma chamber, and can be characterized by on-line mass spectrometric analysis of the ECRIS beam, or by off-line analyses (e.g. time-of-flight mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography mass spectrometry, etc.). So far, we have successfully synthesized a modified C70 with iron (Fe) and chlorine (Cl) atoms using two individual plasmas; Fe-Cl plasma and C70 plasma. In a subsequent experiment, shown in this study, we investigated the ion/electron density distributions in the plasma chamber by using electrostatic probe method. We correlated these results with the off-line synthesized material investigations and also with plasma electron simulations in order to collect more information on the mechanism of the synthesis process. A compact ECR-type plasma device with radial trapping only was built in the Atomki ECR Laboratory called Table Plasma Generator (TPG). The relatively big plasma chamber makes it an ideal device to install Langmuir-probes into it easily while the plasma is still observable with eyes or by cameras. Four cylindrical Langmuir-probes parallel to the plasma chamber axis are installed to the rotatable endplate of the TPG's plasma chamber. This experimental setup allows to measure the azimuthal and radial dependence of several plasma parameters. Plasma potential, electron temperature, electron density, electron energy distribution etc. are calculated from the voltage-current characteristics of the probes to investigate the effect of external settings (microwave power, gas pressure) to the spatial distribution of plasma parameters. We present new results on the X-ray spectroscopy of multicharged argon, sulfur and chlorine obtained with the Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Trap (ECRIT) in operation at the Paul Scherrer Institut (Villigen, Switzerland). We used a Johann-type Bragg spectrometer with a spherically-bent crystal, with an energy resolution of about 0.4 eV. The ECRIT itself is of a hybrid type, with a superconducting split coil magnet, special iron inserts which provides the mirror field, and a permanent magnetic hexapole. The high frequency was provided by a 6.4 GHz microwave emitter. We obtained high intensity X-ray spectra of multicharged F-like to He-like argon, sulfur and chlorine with one 1s hole. In particular, we observed the 1s2s 3S1 → 1s2 1S0 M1 and 1s2p 3P2 → 1s2 1S0 M2 transitions in He-like argon, sulfur and chlorine with unprecedented statistics and resolution. The energies of the observed lines are being determined with good accuracy using the He-like M1 line as a reference. We surveyed the He-like M1 transition intensity as a function of the ECRIT working conditions.
