PHY 565 WRF will be offered for sale in substantial quantities by Dow AgroSciences' PhytoGen Cottonseed in 2010. This new variety has both WideStrike® insect protection (W), the latest, two-gene Bt, transgenic insect protection, as well as Genuity™ Roundup Ready Flex® (RRF) technologies. It has fair-to-good seedling vigor, semi-smooth leaves, normal branching and fruiting patterns, and good storm tolerance. It is a mid- to full-maturing cultivar with relatively indeterminate growth habit and good heat tolerance. Field trials indicate it is well adapted to many of the southern parts of the Cotton Belt, areas in which mid- to full-maturity varieties have thrived. In public sector variety trials, PHY 565 WRF has compared very favorably with several prominent varieties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
