The article presents information on a study which examined the influence of raised invar edges on wet drop test pressures, in order the evaluate the capabilities of the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software OpenFOAM in the context of sloshing inside membrane tanks. A comparison of smooth wedge results with Wagner's analytical solution was conducted, as well as comparison between smooth wedge and wedge with invar edges CFD. It also describes the setup of the numerical simulations.

The article focuses on a study which described experimental and numerical investigations on global forces exerted by violent irregular fluid motions on liquefied natural gas coupling (LNGC) prismatic tank's boundaries. Validation of the computation fluid dynamics (CFD) began with the roll motion of a two-dimensional tank model during the MARSTRUCT project. The CFD software OpenFOAM® was used to perform the CFD calculations.

The article discusses a study that presents experimental and numerical investigations on global forces exerted by fluid motions on liquefied natural gas carrier (LNGC) prismatic tank boundaries. Efficient numerical tools are used to improve the prediction of the dynamic seakeeping/sloshing coupling. The hydrodynamic and sloshing responses of LNGC operating as LNG terminals in various operational conditions are examined. The goal is to attain a better understanding of the global effects of fluid flows during sloshing and their influence on ship motions.

The article presents a study that uses a combined semi-analytical and finite element approach for the assessment of hydro structure interactions during sloshing impacts in liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanks. The basic principles of coupling are discussed. For the hydrodynamic part of the problem, the asymptotic analysis of local fluid-structure interaction in the impact region is performed. Different types of wave impact such as steep wave impact, breaking wave impact and impact by aerated wave are described.
