A new scheme for detection of moving targets and estimation of the azimuth velocity components in a single complex-valued synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery is presented in this paper based on the symmetric Doppler rate matched (SDRM) filter pairs. An SDRM filter pair processes a given SAR imagery and achieves two defocused SAR images that have the same defocused background but different defocused moving targets, and then by comparing the sharpness of the two images, the moving targets are determined adaptively and automatically. The azimuth velocity estimator utilizes an SDRM filter pair bank to get azimuth velocity of detected targets. In this paper we discuss the frequency-jump burst (FJB) waveform as a candidate for performing joint synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging and ground moving target indication (GMTI). We introduce the signal model for simulating SAR data and the method for image formation. The ambiguity function (AF) is used as an analysis tool for determining whether the waveform under investigation has the desired resolution. The FRACTA algorithm and its enhancements has been shown to be an effective STAP methodology for the airbore or spaceborne radar configuration in which there exists nonhomogenous clutter, jammer, and dense target clusters. But the FRACTA algorithm is rather complicated and has higher computational requirements, and can't estimate the target parameter accurately. In order to overcome the defects and adopt its advantages, the improved FRACTA algorithm is proposed, which can detect the targets and estimate the targets parameter accurately, and has higher efficient and robust than FRACTA.
