A brand-new diffractometer system using multiple MYTHEN detectors has been established at BL19B2 Engineering Science Research I, a bending magnet beamline of SPring-8. A unique feature of this diffractometer is the azimuthal rotating axis to configure the direction of the detector array, which enables us to change the condition of observing reciprocal space with one-dimensional detectors. It is remarkable that this diffractometer system has a feature of adapting a variety of experiments such as out-of-plane and in-plane diffraction of anisotropic materials, as well as high-throughput data collection of powder diffraction, by transforming the detector arrangement. This study examines a firm's decisions on human resource allocation across geographic markets contingent on its market-level performance. From a behavioral perspective, we propose that managers apply aspiration levels for two sub-goals consisting of overall market-level performance: market extension (acquiring new contracts and customers) and market retention (retaining existing contracts and customers). Although managerial choices of allocating human resources to a geographic market depend on market extension and retention performance relative to each aspiration level, they are asymmetric between market extension and retention; managers will allocate more human resources to a geographic market as its market extension performance is higher, whereas fewer human resources as its market retention performance is higher. Additionally, the attainment of market extension and retention aspirations strengthens each relationship with the amount of allocated human resources. Finally, market extension and retention performance jointly influence human resource allocation, such that the impact of market extension performance on human resource allocation is stronger when the aspirations for market retention are satisfied. Using a unique dataset of life insurance companies in Japan from 2000 to 2015, we found strong support for the hypothesized relationships. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
