International research is already booming, and global problems like climate change have sparked interdisciplinary initiatives involving academics from many nations, disciplines, and tongues. Integrating the research team, the supervisors, and the doctoral students present several challenges, such as multicultural issues; integrating a good team depends on the supervision style and type of postgraduate students and how to supervise students to conduct quality research. This article examines supervisory approaches, and the challenges and rewards supervisors face while supervising diverse projects. The lectures from the Graduate Studies in Supervision course were examined, along with a literature study. Two senior supervisors from the International Business School (JIBS) and the School of Engineering at Jönköping University participated in small-scale research and observed two supervisory sessions, where were discussions and supervisor reflections. Observations, talks, and the findings of a survey based on Lee's research were compared to determine the supervisory style. The failure to define the scope and writing of the publication when a journal article is rejected after 1-2 years, which affects the trust of the student and the supervisor and the time plan in a multidisciplinary project, are just a few of the challenges that emerged during postgraduate supervision. Collaboration across disciplinary boundaries is vital to address the complex challenges and opportunities in Digital Health. We present findings and experiences of applying the principles of Team Science to a digital health research project called 'The Wearable Clinic'. Challenges faced were a lack of shared understanding of key terminology and concepts, and differences in publication cultures between disciplines. We also encountered more profound discrepancies, relating to definitions of "success" in a research project. Air pollution is a global public health concern and has led to millions of premature deaths worldwide. In overpopulated cities, particulate matter such PM2.5, nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and ozone (O3) in the troposphere have deleterious effects on human health leading to cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. The students in two undergraduate courses (Principles of Biology for Honors students and Ecology) and one graduate course (Teaching STEM at the K-12 schools) at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore; and summer-exchange undergraduate engineering interns learnt about the positive and negative effects of Covid-19 pandemic on air quality for some of the selected overpopulated cities in the world that witnessed lockdowns from March 2020 through spring 2021. The STEM students as well as the interns had the opportunity to learn how to analyze the real-time and historical air quality data from the Environmental Protection's Agency's centralized data system, AirNow, as well as from the Air Quality Open Data Platform (https://aqicn.org/data-platform/covid19) Worldwide Covid-19 dataset. For the above-mentioned courses, the materials pertaining to Covid-19 and air quality were taught in the form of modules (two for each course) with lectures; discussions and class debates; video materials; simulations with real-time data; and a project centering on that theme. The engineering students who worked as summer interns worked on analyzing data from five of the major cities in the world. Besides analyzing the effects of the pandemic on PM2.5, NO2, and O3 in the selected populated cities, the students also studied whether any correlations existed among the air quality parameters or not. The students' learning outcomes included honing content knowledge in atmospheric chemistry and physics of particulate matter; environmental sciences and engineering; public health and policies; research skills with respect to data analysis and problem-solving; as well as presentation and writing skills. The students and interns in the courses and internships also addressed and debated on the various issues of sustainability, which encompasses social, environmental, economic considerations along with policies. The crisis of the pandemic on climate change is dependent on the policies of the governments towards which directions the economies need to head. When the governments prioritize to shift from fossil fuels to cleaner energy such as wind, solar, geothermal, biofuels, then the mitigation efforts of climate change could come to fruition. It is anticipated that with more ongoing collaborations across disciplines, the authors will be able to permanently integrate these diverse components in other STEM courses such as Statistics for Engineers, Big Data Analytics, and enhance multidisciplinary learning for all majors. This integration of research findings in STEM courses is a reflection of the KDB (Know, Do, Be) framework, as the interns and the students honed their skills not only in content knowledge through inquiry, but felt responsible in taking action towards mitigation efforts of climate change. Background Technology and globalization have created a world of complex problems that require complex solutions. Consequently, engineering students are inheriting a future that will require them to work on teams with other engineers from different disciplines, scientists, and other non-engineers. Purpose Our research explores whether, in addition to traditional teamwork skills, there are skills specific to working effectively on multidisciplinary engineering teams that can better prepare students to enter the modern workforce and accelerate their ability to deliver meaningful impacts. Method To determine whether there are skills specific to working effectively on multidisciplinary engineering teams, we employed three stages of research: a literature review, stakeholder interviews, and a survey. The literature review produced questions used to conduct interviews of working engineers. In turn, the interviews provided content for a survey that was completed by 156 industry professionals to evaluate skills specific to working on multidisciplinary engineering teams. Results The interviews with practicing engineers revealed the existence of seven key skills specific to working on effective multidisciplinary engineering teams. The importance of these skills was confirmed by the subsequent survey, which further revealed that respondents believe that the majority of entry-level engineering hires are not proficient in these core multidisciplinary skills at the date of hire. Conclusions The results suggest several opportunities for future research, including analyzing the findings in light of key demographics, skill development, and hiring practices. As engineering educators, we hope to uncover and design approaches that will better prepare our students to enter the modern workforce and develop meaningful solutions through multidisciplinary collaboration. The article deals with a summary of the current research of capital punishment and torture on early modern age, especially from the point of view of legal, historical, historiographical and cultural-anthropological interpretation of the topic. The analysis of the results of previous research of primary sources, especially written sources is extraordinary linked with the genesis of multimedia practical experiments, which are confirming or refuting the validity of various, mostly physical dogmas as new entertainment-educational media platform. Despite a number of shortcomings and inaccuracies, some of which are discussed in more detail in the text, this format led to an interesting findings and indicated the direction that research could take in the future. From the author‘s point of view, it is a detailed analysis of primary sources, based on the results of which hypotheses are established, which are then multidisciplinary researched in laboratory conditions and tested by modern measurement techniques with a series of practical tests, performed using replicas of original technological instruments. In this research, a systematic literature review of factors enabling global innovation teams has been conducted. In innovation work, global companies can benefit from, for example, accessing talents and working around the clock. On the other hand, the call for reduced travelling may be hinder global innovation teams from conducting innovation work. Previous research has developed knowledge of team models, virtual teams and innovation teams. In this study, a distinction is made between virtual teams and global teams, even though both types of team connect through technology. Virtual team members can meet under certain circumstances, while global team members cannot meet without travelling far distances. Building on prior research, the study proposes factors enabling global innovation teams and a model to demonstrate and illustrate the different perspectives of the global innovation team. This research explores problems occurring when practitioners use a research-based methodology regarding how to create high-performing innovation teams, namely the CIT-process, which has not been used by practitioners before. The CIT-process is recommended to be used prior to the ideation phase, which otherwise is considered to be the first phase in the innovation process. The CIT-process is a five-step process in which the innovation project kick-off is the final step. Prior steps refer to management commitment and identification and to the preparation of a convener and team members. A consultancy firm was educated and evaluated before organisations were involved, who brought real innovation projects to work on. Three innovation teams were created. Data were collected through observations at team meetings and interviews. Any problems were mainly caused by management that underestimated the value of preparation in innovation work. Scepticism towards the newly developed CIT-process and the practitioners' inexperience with the CIT-process were also addressed as reasons. The need for educational tools was highlighted. Cross-disciplinary work characterizes information systems (IS) research and practice, including design practice both in industry and design science research (DSR) projects. However, IS research lacks a nuanced understanding of cross-disciplinary design: of its intricacies and challenges. Moreover, IS research, particularly DSR, suffers from a limited conceptualization of design, including cross-disciplinary design. This study utilizes a discourse lens to make sense of cross-disciplinary design in a research project developing a mobile learning application. The study reveals the emergence of a variety of 'designers' who construct future users in various ways and end up in discursive struggle around their conflicting designs. Powerful disciplinary systems and associated discourses are speaking though these designers. Emergence and evolution also feature cross-disciplinary design with oscillation between multi- and interdisciplinary design. The emergent, disciplinarily bounded, evolving, and contested nature of crossdisciplinary design is emphasized in this study with implications for IS and more specifically for DSR research. One of the most important challenges today is to support student's critical thinking and soft skills development. Many researches point to a deficit of these skills among graduates. The article is focused on the presentation of the research of the impact of the selected teaching method, namely project teaching (project-based learning), on the student access, development of their soft skills and ability of critical thinking. The article compares the results of final testing. In the first part, the focus is on a brief presentation of the method, followed by a general definition of the tools of this form of teaching and also a presentation of a specific tool in the form of a selected computer program. Then there are commented results of a survey in the form of comparison of two groups of students taught by different teaching methods. Six factors are compared. The first factor is activity in the classroom, then attendance, interaction with teacher, interaction in the team, as well as teamwork and the development of soft skills and critical thinking. In conclusion, there is a proposal for possible use of the teaching method. The aim of the paper is to present the potential of the teaching method and its contribution to the future professional life of students based on the research of the effect of introducing the innovation of the subject in the form of project teaching (project-based learning). Many of the decisions educators make are under direct influence of institutional structure, notably those that seek to create multidisciplinary spaces for students. Some multidisciplinary courses are developed in isolation even though they are intended to combine and integrate disciplines. This study seeks to explore how such multidisciplinary courses are established --the process that educators undergo to design and implement these courses, both formal and informal. We aim at utilizing social network analysis to identify and communicate the connections between educators and their multidisciplinary courses such that future courses can be developed more strategically. We have mapped the formal structure of the College of Engineering at Southeast R1 University using social network analysis and created networks representing the faculty involved in co-taught courses. To supplement the publicly available data, we conducted semi-structured interviews with faculty affiliated with a broad sample of the multidisciplinary courses. Our analysis compared the themes that emerged from interviews against those from the social network analysis. These analyses enabled us to identify instances of alignment and divergence between what was shown in the institutional data and what was perceived and explained by faculty directly involved with disciplinary courses. Findings of this work can serve departments and educators by acting as a feedback loop in providing new avenues for creating and implementing multidisciplinary courses by utilizing existing multidisciplinary connections. The aim of the paper is to illustrate a series of pedagogical strategies utilised in the teaching of Architecture and concerns the integration of technology in the design process towards redefining ways of envisioning the future of Architecture. Via the agenda of a specific design studio laboratory, the quest for integration is tested and the boundaries of architecture and other technology-based disciplines are being challenged. The thematic of the future-tech studio poses "technology" as a lens to inspect the future of architecture, therefore it provides a fertile ground for reciprocally investigating the future of other disciplines. A series of specific methodologies and processes are explored in order to encourage a multidisciplinary approach. These processes spread throughout the design-studio duration as a continuous crossover of themes, exercises, workshops, references, case studies and discussions. The "Reality Check" exercise utilized within the future Tech design studio as an integrative pedagogical tool is discussed in this paper. The theoretical background of the thematics is discussed along with examples of work produced as part of the exercise. The exercise aims at redefining ways of innovatively conditioning space by integrating personalised insights from the disciplines of mechanical, environmental and structural engineering, construction and building services. The principles of the national system of probation represent a series of rules with a wide applicability, which guide the overall functioning of the system and its components. Knowing these principles is particularly important for a more indepth understanding of the national system of probation, because they are also meant to guide the process of interpretation and application of the rules with a narrower applicability and to constitute a basis for the functioning of the system in situations where there isn't a special provision. The principles based on which is organized and functions the national system of probation are laid down in the Law no. 252/2013, and a part represents a transposition into our national law of the International Recommendations, among which those raised through the Recommendation CM/Rec(2010)1 of the Committee of Ministers to Member States with regard to the Council of Europe's Rules of Probation. In our vision, the national system of probation is guided by the following principles: the principle of legality, the principle of observing judgments, the principle of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms (with the three concrete components regarding respect for human dignity, respect for private and family life and non-discrimination), the principle of confidentiality and protection of personal data, the principle of case management, the principle of individualization of penalties, the principle of co-interest of the supervised person, the principle of multidisciplinary, the principle of observing the right to information and the principle of professionalism and integrity in the activity of the probation. The Bachelor of Innovation™ (BI), an internationally unique family of undergraduate degrees offered at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), incorporates multi-disciplinary education across multiple colleges and departments. Currently, there are twelve BI degrees, plus eight specific emphasis areas, offered across the College of Business and Administration (COB), the College of Engineering and Applied Science (EAS), the College of Education (COE), and the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences (LAS). This new degree is comprised of an emphasis (major), an innovation core, one of four cross-discipline cores, and general education requirements. The innovation core, the heart of the Bachelor of Innovation™, consists of eight classes: Intro to Entrepreneurship, The Innovation Process, Business and Intellectual Property Law, Technical Writing Proposals and Presentations, three Innovation Teams classes (analyze and report, research and execute, and design and lead), and entrepreneurship and Strategy. This degree was designed and created in response to the documented, widespread, and growing need for a comprehensive education in innovation at an undergraduate level. The workforce needs graduates who have the ability to provide value due to both their subject knowledge and their ability to create, innovate, and put those innovations into practice. The Bachelor of Innovation brings students "onto the court" and gives them the abilities and knowledge to transform ideas into impact. To help contextualize the unique nature of the Bachelor of Innovation this paper will be a comprehensive and in-depth review from the personal perspective of a currently enrolled student. The purpose of this paper is to outline and detail the experiences that the student has had--from the date of enrolment through senior year. An important ingredient for capstone project success is teamwork. Most, if not all, capstone teams will deal with issues such as poor communication, social loafers, a lack of shared objectives, and an inability to resolve conflicts at various points during the course of a capstone project. In addition to regular instructor mentoring and coaching, team selection appears to play an important role in mitigating such behaviors. In the interest of understanding how team selection might impact team effectiveness in a capstone setting, this paper examines a small sample of capstone project teams over multiple semesters using a case study approach based upon a relatively large population of students. Drawing upon insights from working with students at two different universities (one private and one public) observations on the factors that may impact team effectiveness are discussed. Team composition factors considered in context of the case studies include the impacts of academic imbalance, dominant personality, personality composition, misaligned interests and disciplinary divergence (i.e., fault lines). The work in a therapeutically team offers more expertise for the goals of disable patient therapy because the disability has so many faces: medical, social, psychological etc. There are not standards for the disability case management in Romania, but in Dolj County, this social structure DGASPC - General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection has developed a unique and own methodology for the case management, for the social protection of disable adults and children's. The view of therapy in a mutual way, outline the core of the relationships between therapists and beneficiary, this vision has grown to DGASPC County, enabling the possibility to develop a more nuanced and exchange of information and knowledge, and a more human, deeper relationships between therapists and beneficiaries. The benefits of a team approach are well demonstrated in practice across the world, in many studies and also can be demonstrated in our practice in Dolj County, by the results after therapy and by the number of cases that are treated. The role of the physical therapist in the multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation and care in the social health system from Dolj has some particulates and the beneficence vision that lay at the bottom of a system very all organized system that treat the disable person. Social media research is an arena of intersection between different disciplinary perspectives, from social to information sciences. As a result, the concept of Twitter data is open to different interpretations and applications.This paper presents a critical reflexive approach to mapping the multidisciplinary research literature on Twitter in crisis situations, focusing on the conceptualisation of Twitter as an object of research, analytic foci, and data analysis methods. This approach identifies key issues in the Twitter in crises research field. For example, there are multiple and intersecting definitions of Twitter. The majority of definitions tend to be descriptive and may contribute to naturalisation of just one - predominantly technological - perspective. Twitter in crises research tends tofocus on the potential of tools supporting analysis of "Twitter data" rather than on actual uses of Twitter, thus potentially neglecting real world needs and limitations. Over-emphasis of the potential of computational methods leads to a blending of research and promotional discourses which can negatively impact end-users ofthe analyticaltools. The seeming advantage of quantitative/computationalapproaches is that they can be applied very broadly to the whole spectrum of crisis situations. Sound quantitative methodologies may enable visualisations and summarisations of huge data sets. However, these approaches do not allow analytical insights that may be possible using appropriate qualitative methods. Qualitative research provides smaller scale but more insightful results. However, being usually grounded within the traditional mass media research paradigm, qualitative research tends to be preoccupied with thematic content which results in neglecting the interactive nature of social media. We present a preliminary approach to mapping the multidisciplinary research literature on Twitter in crisis situations. Thisapproachcan be employed as a guide when traversing the volumes of social media research, as well as, and, perhaps even more importantly, prior to commencing research involving social media data. We present an educational paradigm that stimulates innovation and entrepreneurship. It is a master-level university course that was specifically designed to connect technological research with education by using patented technologies developed at the research faculties of a Technical University. At Delft University of Technology, this approach has resulted in ten startups which commercialize these technologies and an additional two dozen startups as an indirect spinoff. The final culminating Capstone Design course provides students the opportunity to work in teams and apply their knowledge to design, build and test prototypes for solving real-world, open-ended design challenges. Several research studies have shown both qualitative and quantitative advantages for students by working on multidisciplinary Capstone Design projects. All schools within various colleges of the Institute currently only offer the traditional monodisciplinary Capstone Design course and hence there exists no formal channel for students to collaborate and work together on multidisciplinary Capstone Design projects. In the absence of a common multidisciplinary Capstone Design course, the transition from traditional monodisciplinary Capstone Design course raises issues of managing faculty teaching expectations, providing administrative support to faculty and student teams and forming multidisciplinary functional student teams. In order to assist with resolving these issues, an online portal was developed to support the implementation of multidisciplinary Capstone Design projects. Faculty and student feedback was solicited in order to conceptualize and develop the website to support the entire process of student team formation, sharing of multidisciplinary project ideas across schools and making student-team assignments. Modeling human activities such as human robotic, and human behavior is an active research involving multidisciplinary field including biomedical engineering, biomechanics, mathematics etc. Thus is due to the fact that a number of human activities are directly related human behavior such as cognitive, emotion, and movement. The modeling of human activities and behaviors became more challenging when human is subject to emotional stress. This is because emotional stress will affect human behavioral, physical and mental activities. In this paper, we review the protocols adopted to induce and study human emotions. The review covers the methodology used and provides critical evaluation of those methods. Starting in 1987 with 6 students the Postgraduate Programme Renewable Energy (PPRE) has developed to an accredited master program with almost 400 actively networking alumni from more than 80 countries. Fields of study are wind energy, solar electric and solar thermal, energy meteorology, hydropower, storage technology, biomass and economics of Renewable Energy. The Programme1 aims at engineers and natural scientists. Apart from lecturing, emphasis is put on an eight-week internship in research institutes or companies and intensive hands-on lab courses. Furthermore, we establish contacts to companies, research institutes, consultants and organisations for international development for students within excursions and master thesis. A case study on a real-life project visited by the students allows the comparison of students' research results with the experience of the system's operator. In this paper we describe three different offerings of a multi-quarter multidisciplinary capstone experience where students engaged in designing and building technology to address problems faced by populations in local and remote resource-constrained environments. We define resource-constrained environments broadly (e.g., low-income communities, low bandwidth environments). These environments provide unique constraints (e.g., cultures where people are unfamiliar with or afraid of technology, environments where power and network connectivity are scarce and expensive). Students are partnered with organizations interested in piloting a solution they devise. The course brings together multidisciplinary teams of students to conduct fieldwork with potential user populations, design a technology to solve a problem inspired by a community-based organization, implement a solution, and evaluate that solution. Students work on projects with real-world impact and gain valuable experience with multidisciplinary design and multidisciplinary team work. In this paper we describe the three class formats we have attempted, sample student projects, and course outcomes based on student projects and survey responses. We also address the various ways projects have continued past the course, and we analyze the structural course and project elements that have contributed to student and research successes. Teaching first-year students is a balance between introducing technical content and providing perspective for students to forge connections to the context of what engineers do. Making the possible impact of engineers real and visible to introductory students in an authentic manner can be challenging. During recent decades increasing interest has been shown in the development of bioelectronic sensors based on ion sensitive field effect transistors (ISFETs). Many ISFET-based pH sensors have been commercialized and attempts have also been made to commercialize ISFET based bioelectronic sensors for applications in the fields of medical, environmental, food safety, military and biotechnology areas. The growing interest for development of these sensors is due to the fact that they are manufactured by means of semiconductor technology which has already entered into multifunctional “More than Moore” regime that is increasingly multidisciplinary in nature. Technology involved has, therefore, innovative potential that may result in the appearance of new sensor and device technologies in future. The basic theoretical principles of ISFET usage in bioanalytical practice, the operation principle of ISFET, its modeling and a brief introduction of ISFET technology are considered in this review. This paper dealt with the comprehensive framework for research, development and management strategies of Integrated Waste Management System in Mindanao. Specifically, this shares experiences on the system of Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in the selected communities in Mindanao. Findings showed that every community has its own unique profile regarding solid waste management. The composition of the waste varies depending on diverse variables such as urbanization, commercial enterprises manufacturing and service sector activities. Opportunities can be drawn through research, development and expanded community based action program for MRF as well as management challenges can be improved through synchronization of components and sub-components and expansion of multidisciplinary -- participatory based programs. They include "Understanding Mental Health Treatment in Primary Care with Patient-Physician Interaction Data," examining the mental health treatment process; "Vertical Integration Between Community Hospitals and Nursing Facilities," about resource dependancy theory; and "Downstream Integration and Competitive Strategies in the US Pharmaceutical Industry," regarding vertical integration.

High social capital in an organization does not necessarily encourage questioning of decisions and directions and may actually have the opposite effect in cases where the cohesiveness of members tends to produce a ?closed society.? When activists maintain networks that include a considerable proportion of members outside of the party membership, the relationship is likely to help the pursuit of accountability claims. My doctoral research investigates the role of activists’ networks in their prosecution of claims for elite accountability. The main example studied is the demand for leaders of the New Zealand Alliance to account for their voting to send troops to Afghanistan in support of the U.S. ‘war on terrorism.’ The paper presented here concentrates on the multidisciplinary methods used in this research. As a multidisciplinary subject, biomedical textiles included various disciplines such as textile and biomedical engineering, design and modeling, mechanics, materials and fiber science, and so on. Thus, it is a challenge for the experiment teaching in biomedical textiles. In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of Journal of World Business, a special issue will be published in late 2015/early 2016. This issue will include contributions from some of the leading scholars - both established and emerging - in international management research. In this panel, 4 of these individuals - representing each of four areas of the special issue - will present their perspectives. As Editor-in-Chief of the journal I will introduce the panel, frame the presentations and dialogue, and comment upon the presentations and the overall direction of international management research. The focus of the panel will be on the questions "where have we been and where are we going in international management research", with each panelist responding to that question for his/her particular area of interest and expertise. The panelists will offer short presentations that track their prospective contribution to the JWB special issue, but also comment on some broader themes and currents in international management research. In order to situate first year technical writing students in engineering practice, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Experimental Study Group (ESG) has piloted a section of a first year writing curriculum subject, 21W.732, Scientific Writing and New Media, in which the communication deliverables are based on mechanical engineering product design. The ESG section of the 21W.732 writing subject inverts the communication and technical emphases found in upper-level engineering design subjects: in the ESG 21W.732, the emphasis is on communication rather than product design. The ESG 21W.732 curriculum asks students to work together both individually and in teams to conceive, design, prototype, and evaluate products; the communication assignments are coupled directly to this design cycle or to the humanistic aspects of engineering. Results suggest that students are engaged in this novel subject and value the experience. This interdisciplinary, hands-on, project-based, team-based communication class offers students a number of benefits above and beyond situated communication instruction, including the opportunity for first year students to explore engineering as a major, to learn (some) technical content driven by the projects, and to engage in genuine team project work. The field of human-robot interaction is new but growing rapidly. While there are now several established researchers in the field, many of the current human-robot interaction practitioners are students or recently graduated. This workshop, to be held in conjunction with the HRI 2010 Conference, aims to bring together graduate students to present their current research to an audience of their peers in a setting that is less formal and more interactive than the main HRI conference, to talk about the important issues in their field, and to hear about what their colleagues are doing.
