We investigated the thermal conduction performance of thermal interface materials (TIM) using silver paste (SP) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) before and after thermal cycling. We also studied the cause that could affect the thermal resistance of SP and AgNPs after thermal cycling. In the present study, a facile and ecofriendly method has been developed for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles from silver nitrate using Asiatic mangrove (Rhizopora mucronata) a natural biopolymer, as a reducing and stabilizing agent. The Influence of different parameters such as pH, temperature and reaction time on the synthesis of nanoparticles was studied. The results recorded from UV-vis spectrum, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) support the biosynthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles. Biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles and activity on clinically isolated human pathogens viz., Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria and fungi were investigated. The synthesized silver nanoparticles had significant antibacterial action on both the classes of bacteria. The plasmonic responses of silver nanoparticles extracted from silver halide based electron microscope film are investigated. Photo-reduction process is carried out to convert the silver halide grains into the metallic silver. The centrifuge technique is used for separating the silver nanoparticles from the residual solution. Morphological study performed by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) shows that all the nanoparticles have an average diameter of ~120 nm with a high degree of mono dispersion in size. Silver (Ag) nanoparticle and Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) - Silver (Ag) composite have been prepared and its dielectric constant, ac conductivity, and current density-voltage characteristics have been studied, at and above room temperature. Here correlated barrier hopping found to be the dominant charge transport mechanism with maximum barrier height of 0.11 eV.
