An experimental set up to characterize the microspall phenomenon is proposed. It involves velocity measurements and a multi-time transversal radiographic observation. Mining regions are similar in terms of socio-economic evolution and characteristic patterns of spatial development. Their current challenges are determined by seemingly divergent processes, which regardless of their nature produce long-term instability and reduced control over the efficient use of resources. Although they are the main scope for various international support initiatives, these areas suffer from a lack of coordination, cooperation in finding common solutions and limited spatial planning. This is especially noticeable in those areas that have lost their economic importance and relevance in the settlements network, remaining less relevant for the usual control and monitoring tools in strategic planning. Through the just transition, the mining regions are helped to overcome their uncertain status because of the implementation of programs, projects and measures specific to each analyzed territory. The territorial administrative units coordinate Just Transition Plans, which are implemented provided that all stakeholders in the affected area, members of the working groups, are involved. These entities have the role of assisting the transition process by ensuring compliance with the sectoral and transversal principles initially established. From the urban planning point of view, this process is partially valid, since the planning is in these territories at a very low level of quality compared to areas of major economic importance. For this reason, the spatial relevance impact assessment tools have a reduced capacity to analyze the progress in meeting their objectives, both quantitatively and qualitatively. This study presents existing tools for assessing spatial planning processes and their impact, providing good practice examples in this area. Applying distinct criteria, specific to each territory considered, subject to the just transition process, the result is presented in the form of a set of useful guidelines for the stakeholder members in the working groups coordinating the just transition process. The paper studies pure bending of a strip (beam) containing through crack which is perpendicular to its axis and asymmetrical about the one. One of the crack tips is in the compressive stress zone and crack faces are in smooth contact near it. The other one is in the tensile stress zone and there is a striplike plastic zone on the crack prolongation line near this tip. The solution is reduced to linear conjunction problems using methods of complex analysis and complex potentials. The length of crack faces contact zone, the length of crack tip plastic zone and crack tip opening displacement are evaluated. Their analytical solution is found. The system of transcendental equations for calculating the length of crack tip plastic zone and parameter, that characterized the length of crack closure zone are established. Formula for calculating the crack tip opening in noncontact tip and dependencies for the stress tensor components on the line, where the crack located are wrote. Numerical analysis of crack tip opening in her noncontacting tip and the length of crack tip plastic zone from reduced external load and location of crack center relative to the axis of the strip (beam) is done. The parameter, that characterized the length of crack closure zone doesn't depend from external load is find numerically and a simple formula for its determination is given. We present a study of longitudinal/transversal vibrations on a string using a discrete system of point masses equally separated as an approximate model of it. This approximation considers deviations from the equilibrium point made by springs that get stretched and compressed. Then, we derive the equations of motion from the Lagrangian formulation and find the frequency dispersion ratio using plane wave solutions. Since we obtain N coupled linear equations of motion, we propose an expression for a wave packet by superposition. Finally, considering an impulse highly localized at the central point of the system as the initial condition of the problem, we describe how the wave packet expands on the string. In the paper, we introduce the notion of transversality for Volterra quadratic stochastic operators acting in a finite- dimensional simplex Sm−1 as the positivity condition of all principal minors of an even order of a skew-symmetric matrix A = (aki). We also study a number of properties of transversal operators that are necessary for further research. One can easily note that this definition is equivalent to the classical definition of the transversality of smooth mappings. The work focuses on the effect of transversal runoff on the high-pressure layer in a supersonic (M = 6) separated compression corner flow. The high-pressure layer is formed behind the reattachment line of the separated flow and is characterized by high values of total pressure (90-95% of the freestream total pressure). A new method of transversal strengthening of a laminated fabric-reinforced composite is proposed. The fabric pack is punched with needles for felting, which partly pull out and damage the warp/weft threads by barbs, pulling some fibers in the direction of thickness (Z-direction). By increasing the density of needle punches per unit area in the felting zone, it is possible to increase the ability of a layered composite to resist transversal tension or shear stresses. In this case, the strength of the composite in the XY plane decreases slightly. By the example of the single-lap joint of composites (plain weave fabric with a thermoplastic binder), it was shown that felting with a punching density of 30...60 cm−2 about doubles the shear strength in comparison with typical glued samples without felting. The present paper describes with accuracy the thermo-optical properties of the Fresnel collector currently in operation at the Cyprus Institute independently from its global location. It takes into consideration all optical losses in a perfect tracking environment based on the as-built parameters. The map of optical losses methodologically considers angle varying from 0° to 90° on both longitudinal and transversal angles to generate a global map of the losses. It gives an exact estimation of the maximum power that can be harvested on its absorber. The thermal analysis of the LFC receiver is performed in CFD environment (Solidworks Flow Simulation). Initially, the CFD model is compared to literature data and to a mathematical model (1D Heat Transfer Model - HTM) in order to prove the model consistency. Then, the CFD model is adjusted to the specific LFC characteristics, leading to the determination of the receiver heat losses calculations. Finally, parametric simulations are conducted by varying the oil temperature, the DNI level and the mass flow rate in order to assess their impact on the receiver performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents an algorithm for selection of State Machine Components (SMCs) of a Petri net specifying its minimized cover. The method is based on the computation of an exact transversal in the selection hypergraph. Such a hypergraph is formed from the set of obtained SMCs. We show that if the selection hypergraph has exact transversals, then all of them have the same cardinality. Moreover, an exact transversal of the selection hypergraph specifies minimal SM-cover of a Petri net. The appropriate formal proofs are presented in the paper. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper a model of Transversely Isotropic Fluid (TIF), developed by Pipkin in [1], is presented and used for example to model in 2D the in-plane shearing of UD prepreg. This problem demonstrates the need to have a continuous fiber tension field over the elements, with the final objective of detecting the wrinkling of fibers during the forming process, at the price of a lower accuracy of the velocity field. The construction of the transversal barriers (weirs and dam) on the Somesul Mic River resulted in a series of negative effects on the analyzed water body: r. Someşul Mic: cf. Nadăş - cf. Someşul Mare (Dej), especially on the longitudinal connectivity, blocking the upstream fish migration. The analyzed water body is placed on the lower course part of the Somesul Mic River, in the West part of Romania. Generally, are well known the numerous environmental effects caused by transversal barriers, but the process of identifying significant impact and of all interactions between a hydro-energetically system and environmental components is extremely difficult due to complexity of the involved systems. In order to inventory, as complete as possible, the impact generated by transversal barriers on the analyzed water body in this paper was applied the SWOT analysis, considered very effective in determining the current state of the water body. The aim of the article is to analyze and synthesize the previous theoretical and experimental research that has been conducted on identifying the physical and mechanical properties of solid organic fertilizers that influence the spreading with specialized machinery. Since livestock manure spreaders have not included control systems, knowledge of these properties can provide information on their influence on the evenness of transversal and longitudinal product distribution, and on the crumbling degree.
