Abstract

The article offers information on the groundwater contamination due to refractory organic compounds such as fuel additives, fire retardants and pesticides. Topics discussed include risk due to groundwater contamination on human health and water resources; use of situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) to remediate contaminated soil and groundwater systems, and degradation of pollutants by high concentration of metal ion.
