In today's busy traffic, effective management and monitoring is crucial, affecting everything from daily transportation routines to environmental sustainability and safety. In this article, we introduce an easy-to-deploy system designed for traffic monitoring through surveillance cameras, utilizing the power of edge computing, computer vision and deep learning technologies. Our system is segmented in to three modules: detection, tracking and analysis. The detection and tracking phases ensure vehicle location, classification, and movement monitoring along the video, while the analysis module provides GPS positioning and speed estimation through visual cues, without the need of traditional GPS location techniques. This approach simplifies the deployment of these systems anywhere, taking the advantage that most worldwide roadways are already video surveilled, providing real-time data crucial for traffic management, safety, and urban planning. With this implementation, the system can easily be scaled up to monitor every corner of a road network, performing all calculations offline without the need for internet connectivity.
