PMMA Fresnel lenses from three vendors were compared using Amonix CPV systems in the same power plant, the 30MW Cogentrix CPV plant in Alamosa, CO. Two years worth of performance data on each lens has been collected and analyzed. The analysis shows the energy differences generated in two years by the three lenses is larger than expected. It was found that one of the three lenses exhibited a weaker temperature dependence than the other two. In addition, Silicone-on-glass (SOG) Fresnel lens performance was compared with PMMA lens performance on the same Amonix MegaModule on a system installed in Pomona, CA. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A Z-axis accelerometer with asymmetrical vertical sensing comb capacitors and high aspect ratio single crystal mechanical structures is presented. A 5-mask silicon-on-glass (SOG) process combined with silicon/glass anodic bonding and multiple deep ion reactive etching (DRIE) is used to fabricate the accelerometer. With the specially designed out-of-plane springs, the accelerometer shows a cross-axis sensitivity of 0.46%. The scale factor and the non-linearity of the accelerometer are measured to be 172.5 mV/g and 0.47% with the input range of ±1 g (gravity), respectively. The noise floor of the accelerometer is 0.22mg/Hz1/2 at 100Hz and for a bandwidth of 400Hz. The short term (10 min) zero bias stability of the fabricated accelerometer is also evaluated to be about 0.47mg. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

In this paper, two SOG structure micro heat pipes array (MHPs) with different length were fabricated, filled and tested. The MHPs were fabricated employing a silicon anisotropic etch technique. A new fill technology was used to inject the working fluid. The experiments were carried out to compare the effects of fluid fill rates between two MHPs with different length. The results revealed that for the long MHPs the highest heat transfer capacity exists with the fill ratio of 35% and for the short one the optimal fill ratio is 45%. The temperature profiles are also considered for two kinds of MHPs respectively. The results indicated that the long MHPs and the short MHPs have nearly the same heat transfer capacity with their optimal fill ratio repectively. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
