The select of a composite scarf repair patch shape is an important issue in aircraft maintenance practice, because the shape of a scarf joint hole in the mother board and the restored strength of a repaired mother board are all depending on the patch shape. The study of patch shape influence on strength of composite material scarf joint repair can provide a reasonable and credible theoretical basis for the optimization of a patch. There are fewer researches on full scale repair patches than simplified ones, and most researches are focus on experiments and simulation, seldom do we see theoretical calculation method.
