- Abstract
One of the most well-liked technological advancements in the information and communication technology landscape today is the Internet of Things (IoT) as a global network of machines and devices can interact with each other. This paper provides a systematic literature review of such IoT-based applications. The objective of this paper is to explore the existing condition of IoT Technology and its application as well as to analyze the current research trends on the usage of IoT based applications. Till now numerous research papers has been published in high ranked scientific journals during the last decade. Based on a particular content analysis of the discovered literature, the paper presents a comprehensive classification of IoT-enabled applications across diverse sectors such as supply chain, business, healthcare, smart cities, agriculture, and smart homes. The paper also points to the shortcomings identified in the relevant literature, particularly limitations the IoT technology presents and how these limitations spread throughout many industries and sectors. Based on findings, the paper identifies potential future research topics that are anticipated to be extremely valuable to both academics and practitioners.
