Hypothermia is a common serious complication that occurs in trauma patients, and if left untreated, may greatly increase morbidity and mortality in this patient population. The purpose of this follow-up study was to demonstrate that prevention of hypothermia in Class I and Class II trauma patients would potentially decrease patient complications. We hypothesized that patients would maintain presenting core body temperature with the placement of the Thermadrape blanket and cap. In this prospective, longitudinal study, Thermadrape blankets and caps were placed on all patients and maintained through out the study period. การเฝ้าระวังเรื่องอุปกรณ์ของมีคมตกค้างในแผลผ่าตัดเป็นสิ่งหนึ่งที่บุคคลากรที่ เกี่ยวข้องในการผ่าตัดให้ความสำคัญอย่างยิ่ง เนื่องจากหากมีอุปกรณ์ตกค้างนอกจากส่งผลด้านลบ กับสุขภาพของผู้ป่วยแล้ว ยังบ่งบอกถึงการขาดมาตรฐานในการดูแลผู้ป่วย ปัจจุบันมีอุปกรณ์จาก ต่างประเทศที่ใช้ตรวจนับของมีคมที่มีประสิทธิภาพ แต่ยังมีราคาที่นำเข้าสูง และยังไม่มีการผลิต ในประเทศไทย เพื่อเป็นการลดต้นทุนในการผ่าตัด และคงไว้ซึ่งมาตรฐานการตรวจนับของมีคม ผู้ศึกษาจึงคิดพัฒนาอุปกรณ์ตรวจนับใบมีดและเข็ม โดยประดิษฐ์จากวัสดุที่มีอยู่คือ กระดาษแข็ง จากกล่องที่เหลือใช้ติดด้วยเทปกาวสองหน้าชนิดบาง ผ่านการฆ่าเชื้อก่อนนำไปใช้ ใช้เวลาประดิษฐ์ และบรรจุห่อก่อนนำไปฆ่าเชื้อเพียง 4 นาที ผลการนำไปใช้โดยพยาบาลส่งเครื่องมือผ่าตัด พบว่า มีค่าเฉลี่ยความพึงพอใจจากผู้ใช้โดยรวมอยู่ในระดับมากที่สุด ไม่พบอุบัติเหตุจากการใช้งาน สามารถใช้นับใบมีดและเข็มได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพไม่แตกต่างจากอุปกรณ์นำเข้าจากต่างประเทศ เป็นอุปกรณ์ที่สามารถนำมาใช้ทดแทนอุปกรณ์ที่นำเข้าจากต่างประเทศได้
