Recently, growing cloud services (CSs) have been leased by organizations for high-performance computation and massive data storage of data-intensive applications (DiAs). To improve the resource utilization of leased CSs, it has become a challenging task to optimize infrastructure as a service CS composition for DiAs (ICSCDs) from the user side. This paper proposes a resource utilization-aware collaborative optimization approach. Targeting the collaboration features of tasks in a DiA, the environments—classes, agents, roles, groups, and objects model is used to formalize the ICSCD problem from the perspective of role-based collaboration. Aiming at the dynamic characteristics of the cloud environment, an integrated method is presented to evaluate the qualification of CSs via the interval numbers with multiple parameters. Based on the exact qualification values, the ICSCD can be optimized for improving the resource utilization of the CSs. A solution using the IBM ILOG CPLEX optimization package is put forward to solve the problem. The experimental results demonstrate that the approach can provide high precision, performance, stability, resource utilization, and low usage cost for the resource utilization-aware ICSCD from the user side. This paper investigates the resource allocation problem for a group of agents communicating over a strongly connected directed graph, where the total objective function of the problem is composted of the sum of the local objective functions incurred by the agents. With local convex sets, we first design a continuous-time projection algorithm over a strongly connected and weight-balanced directed graph. Our convergence analysis indicates that when the local objective functions are strongly convex, the output state of the projection algorithm could asymptotically converge to the optimal solution of the resource allocation problem. In particular, when the projection operation is not involved, we show the exponential convergence at the equilibrium point of the algorithm. Second, we propose an adaptive continuous-time gradient algorithm over a strongly connected and weight-unbalanced directed graph for the reduced case without local convex sets. In this case, we prove that the adaptive algorithm converges exponentially to the optimal solution of the considered problem, where the local objective functions and their gradients satisfy strong convexity and Lipachitz conditions, respectively. Motivated by the practical needs of simulation-based optimization, this paper considers a problem for selecting the best feasible design from a finite set of alternatives, subject to stochastic constraints given in several secondary objectives. We propose an efficient ranking and selection procedure that maximizes the accuracy of the selection under a limited simulation budget. The proposed procedure sequentially updates the simulation data of designs with a heuristic policy that allocates further simulation replications according to the evaluation results of data based on a statistical hypothesis test. Compared to recent studies, such as OCBA-CO and SCORE, this procedure can be more efficient when the simulation model involves large stochastic noise because its heuristic policy considers the precision of the sample mean ignored by the previous studies. Several experimental results of benchmarks demonstrate its improved efficiency, and a case study on the design of military network system shows its effectiveness for practical problems. Network slicing (NS) has been widely identified as a key architectural technology for 5G-and-beyond systems by supporting divergent requirements in a sustainable way. In radio access network (RAN) slicing, due to the device-base station (BS)-NS three layer association relationship, device association (including access control and handoff management) becomes an essential yet challenging issue. With the increasing concerns on stringent data security and device privacy, exploiting local resources to solve device association problem while enforcing data security and device privacy becomes attractive. Fortunately, recently emerging federated learning (FL), a distributed learning paradigm with data protection, provides an effective tool to address this type of issues in mobile networks. In this paper, we propose an efficient device association scheme for RAN slicing by exploiting a hybrid FL reinforcement learning (HDRL) framework, with the aim to improve network throughput while reducing handoff cost. In our proposed framework, individual smart devices train a local machine learning model based on local data and then send the model features to the serving BS/encrypted party for aggregation, so as to efficiently reduce bandwidth consumption for learning while enforcing data privacy. Specifically, we use deep reinforcement learning to train the local model on smart devices under a hybrid FL framework, where horizontal FL is employed for parameter aggregation on BS, while vertical FL is employed for NS/BS pair selection aggregation on the encrypted party. Numerical results show that the proposed HDRL scheme can achieve significant performance gain in terms of network throughput and communication efficiency in comparison with some state-of-the-art solutions. Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) underlay cellular communication plays an important role in the fifth-generation (5G) and beyond communications and its security issues attract a lot of attention. Physical layer security, which explores channel characteristics to protect wireless communications, is very attractive due to its low latency. This paper focuses on secrecy capacity maximization in V2V underlay cellular communications, where the secrecy capacity of vehicular user equipments (VUEs) is optimized first, followed by sum proportional fairness function optimization for both VUEs and cellular user equipments (CUEs). The optimization problems can be solved in two sub-problems, e.g., power and subcarrier allocation problems. The power allocation can be done with the first strategy using a one-dimensional searching algorithm, whereas a genetic algorithm (GA) is used to solve the second optimization problem. In addition, as VUEs share uplink resources with CUEs, the co-channel interference exists and the subcarrier allocation sub-problem is a 3D search problem, which is solved by a two-step iterative Hungarian algorithm (IHA). In this paper, we design a computing, communication and caching scheme for edge caching-based video streaming in order to improve the network performance. Firstly, we optimize the system's energy efficiency and delay with the aid of network function virtualization. Then, a dynamic edge caching decision is developed, and based on Lyapunov optimization, an alternating resource optimization algorithm is proposed for allocating the optimal subcarrier and power resources, video caching and computing resources. Our numerical results show that the proposed scheme outperforms both the traditional caching scheme as well as the least frequently used (LFU)-40% regime, and strikes a compelling tradeoff between the energy efficiency and delay. In this paper, we exploit the cooperative transmission as a new energy supply to support backscatter communication (BackCom), where there are multiple decode-and-forward (DF) relays and only one relay is selected in the cooperative system. The tag circuit power and signal backscattering are respectively supported by transmit powers of the source and the relay, and the minimum mean square error (MMSE) detector is employed at the receiver of the BackCom user to mitigate the interference from the cooperative system. Our objective is to maximize the quality of service (QoS) of the BackCom user which satisfying the QoS of the cooperative system, the total power constraint on the cooperative system and the harvested power constraint on the BackCom user. The probability of feasibility conditions, and optimized joint relay selection and power allocation are investigated in closed-form expressions. The zero forcing (ZF) detection and its comparison with the MMSE detection in the considered system are also analyzed. This paper investigates the performance of cooperative networks based on non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) with multiple full-duplex decode-and-forward relays. Taking into account rate fairness between the users and assuming imperfect successive interference cancellation (SIC), the problem is formulated so that power allocation is performed adaptively by the multiple relays in order to maximize the minimum users’ achievable rate. We demonstrate that the proposed optimization problem is convex and a closed-form expression for the power allocation factor is derived. The attained results show that the proposed scheme achieves satisfactory results in terms of achievable rate, fairness, and outage probability when compared to other adaptive power allocation strategies. This paper studies multi-agent deep reinforcement learning (MADRL) based resource allocation methods for multi-cell wireless powered communication networks (WPCNs) where multiple hybrid access points (H-APs) wirelessly charge energy-limited users to collect data from them. We design a distributed reinforcement learning strategy where H-APs individually determine time and power allocation variables. Unlike traditional centralized optimization algorithms which require global information collected at a central unit, the proposed MADRL technique models an H-AP as an agent producing its action based only on its own locally observable states. In this paper, we focus on a wireless powered communication network where a hybrid access point can wirelessly activate the power of source nodes, and receive their information. Considering the time-switching protocol that implies energy harvesting, and energy usage are separated by time, a novel graphics-based multi-epoch power adjustment (GB-MPA) strategy is proposed to maximize the sum-throughput over a finite time horizon consisting of multiple transmission epochs. The proposed strategy relies on graphical constraint conditions, and allows the elimination of restrictions corresponding to the objective of throughput maximization. Moreover, the proposed GB-MPA strategy can be combined with the time-switching factor optimization by employing an alternating optimization procedure for performance enhancement. Simulation results show the accuracy of the proposed strategy, reduced complexity compared with the conventional convex optimization method, and the existing multi-epoch power adjustment strategy, and the compatibility with the alternating optimization procedure for developing the joint power, and time allocation scheme. In this paper, we study the handover (HO), and power allocation problem in a two-tier heterogeneous network (HetNet), which consists of a macro base station, and some millimeter-wave (mmWave) small base stations. We establish an HO management, and power allocation scheme to maximize the overall throughput while reducing the HO frequency. In particular, considering the interrelationship among decisions made by different user equipments (UEs), we first model the HO, and power allocation problem as a fully cooperative multi-agent task, in which all agents, i.e., UEs, have the same target. Then, to solve the multi-agent task, and get decentralized policies for each UE, we develop a multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) algorithm based on the proximal policy optimization (PPO) method, by introducing the centralized training with decentralized execution framework. That is, we use global information to train policies for each UE, and after the training is finished, each UE obtains a decentralized policy, which can be implemented only based on each UE's local observation. Specially, we introduce the counterfactual baseline to address the credit assignment problem in centralized learning. Due to the centralized training, the decentralized polices learned by multi-agent PPO (MAPPO) can work more cooperatively. The cooperation of radar and communications becomes important in vehicular environments due to the demand for radar-assisted communications or communications-assisted radar. In this paper, the tradeoff between bi-static radar and communications in a joint radar-communications setting is studied. We propose three schemes by using time division, superposition or their mixture. For each scheme, three optimization problems are formulated to maximize either the probability of detection for radar subject to a minimum communications rate, the communications rate subject to a minimum probability of detection for radar, or a combined measure of tradeoff. Specifically, given a fixed amount of total time or power for both communications and radar, the optimal power allocation and/or time allocation between radar and communications are derived. Numerical results show that the superposition scheme outperforms the time division scheme and the mixture scheme with considerable performance gains. Backscatter radio is an intriguing technology for Internet of Things applications, which enables ultra-low-power devices to communicate with each other. Most of the existing works on the combination of the backscatter communications and the “harvest-then-transfer” (HTT) protocol focus on the throughput maximization, yet the study on the energy efficiency (EE) maximization is still lacking. Driven by this observation, this paper studies the EE maximization for an RF-powered backscatter network with the HTT protocol. Multiple hybrid devices (HDs) can either use the backscatter mode by backscattering energy signals from the power beacon (PB) to the reader or use the HTT protocol to first harvest energy from the PB, and then to transmit data to the reader. The proposed scheme aims to optimize multiple parameters including PB's transmit power and time, HDs’ transmit power and time allocation between the backscatter mode and the HTT mode for maximizing the EE of all the HDs. An iterative algorithm is developed to find the optimal solution for the proposed resource allocation scheme. This paper investigates resource provisioning in cyber-physical systems (CPSs) by developing a new definition of anelasticity. A flat semi-dormant multicontroller (FSDMC) model is established on a special type of CPS platform named arbitrated networked control system with dual communication channels. A novel, quantitative, and formal definition of anelasticity for the FSDMC is proposed. A new finite capacity M/M/c queuing system with ${N}$ -policy and asynchronous multiple working vacations of partial servers is established, and the FSDMC is modeled as a quasi-birth-and-death process to obtain the stationary probability distribution of the system. Based on the queueing model, we quantify various performance indices of the system to build a nonlinear cost-performance ratio (CPR) function. An optimization model is presented to minimize the CPR. A particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to find the optimum solution of the optimization model and obtain the optimal configuration values of the system parameters under stability condition. By changing the system parameters, the sensitivity of the system performance indices and the CPR are analyzed, respectively. The unexpected workload varies randomly over time. Thus, an M/M/1/K queue is constructed in a Markovian environment by employing a three-state, irreducible Markov process. In this queue, the conditional average queue length and the probabilities of the three-state process are calculated. Then, the anelasticity value of the system is precisely determined. When the average arrival rate exceeds the average service rate in the queueing system, an optimal CPR unchanged adaptive algorithm based on PSO is designed to dynamically adjust the controller service rate. Extensive numerical results show the usefulness and effectiveness of the proposed techniques and exhibit that the system can maintain elastic invariance in adaptive adjustment parameters. In this paper, a continuous-time multiagent system is proposed for solving optimal resource allocation problems with local allocation feasible constraints. In the system, all the primal agents are divided into different groups. We use dual variables which describe the dual agents to represent the groups of the original agents. The groups of dual agents are used to communicate with others on behalf of the primal agents to reduce communication costs. That is to say, primal agents aim to seek their own optimal solutions by using local information. And dual agents represent primal agents to communicate with other agents in different groups by using the whole group information. The two kinds of agents cooperate to find the optimal solution of the problem. In this way, we only need to know the connections of dual agents to design the multiagent network, and do not need to consider the connections of the primal agents. So the communication cost and the amount of variables will be largely reduced especially for large-scale problem. Furthermore, it is proved that the multiagent system can reach consensus with respect to the dual variables. At the same time, the primal variables are convergent to the optimal solutions of the optimization problem under some certain assumptions on the communication network. For large-scale problem if we take the groups as areas, then the system is suitable for multiarea problem. Reliability and cost are two most important issues in network design optimization that is extensively applied into various optimization problems such as supply chain network design, telecommunication network design, and transportation engineering. This paper proposes an efficient deterministic optimization approach for solving the problem of designing a reliable network. The problem discussed in this paper considers the minimization of the total cost subject to demand, flow balance, and capacity constraints while simultaneously employing mitigation resources to reduce the risk of network failures. Such a problem is typically formulated as a nonconvex mixed-integer program that cannot be easily solved to obtain a global optimum. The proposed optimization method transforms the original nonconvex program into a mixed-integer linear program by linearization techniques and is thus guaranteed to reach a global optimum. In addition, an extended model of minimizing the total weighted loss subject to resource constraints is discussed and globally solved by the proposed method. Experimental results show that the proposed approach effectively solves the reliable network design problem with the minimal total cost or the minimal total weighted loss under an appropriate allocation of mitigation resources. This paper investigates the problem of coordinating several agents through their actions, focusing on an asymmetric observation structure with two agents. Specifically, one agent knows the past, present, and future realizations of a state that affects a common payoff function, while the other agent either knows the past realizations of nothing about the state. In both cases, the second agent is assumed to have strictly causal observations of the first agent’s actions, which enables the two agents to coordinate. These scenarios are applied to distributed power control; the key idea is that a transmitter may embed information about the wireless channel state into its transmit power levels so that an observation of these levels, e.g., the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio, allows the other transmitter to coordinate its power levels. The main contributions of this paper are twofold. First, we provide a characterization of the set of feasible average payoffs when the agents repeatedly take long sequences of actions and the realizations of the system state are i.i.d.. Second, we exploit these results in the context of distributed power control and introduce the concept of coded power-control. We carry out an extensive numerical analysis of the benefits of coded power control over alternative power-control policies, and highlight a simple yet non-trivial example of a power control code. Networked radar systems have been demonstrated to offer enhanced target tracking capabilities. An effective radar resource allocation strategy can efficiently optimize system parameters, leading to performance enhancements. In this paper, two critical but limited system resources are considered for optimization: the number of radar nodes and the transmitted power. In this scenario, a joint node selection and power allocation (JSPA) strategy is developed with the objective of tracking multiple targets. The proposed mechanism implements the optimal resource allocation based on the feedback information in the tracking recursion cycle in order to improve the worst-case tracking accuracy with multiple targets. The network architecture considered in this paper is decentralized so that communication requirements may be reduced while maintaining system robustness. Since the predicted conditional Cramér–Rao lower bound (PC-CRLB) provides a lower bound on the accuracy of the target state estimates conditional on the actual measurement realizations, it is more accurate than the standard posterior CRLB and is thus derived and used as an optimization criterion for the JSPA strategy. It is shown that the optimal JSPA is a two-variable nonconvex optimization problem. We propose an efficient two-step semidefinite programming based solution to solve this problem. This paper presents a distributionally robust planning model to determine the optimal allocation of wind farms in a multi-area power system, so that the expected energy not served (EENS) is minimized under uncertain wind power and generator forced outages. Unlike conventional stochastic programming approaches that rely on detailed information of the exact probability distribution, the proposed method attempts to minimize the expectation term over a collection of distributions characterized by accessible statistical measures, so it is more practical in cases where the detailed distribution data is unavailable. This planning model is formulated as a two-stage problem, where the wind power capacity allocation decisions are determined in the first stage, before the observation of uncertainty outcomes, and operation decisions are made in the second stage under specific uncertainty realizations. Precoder optimization with full channel state information for finite alphabet signals over multiple-input multiple-output random channels is investigated in this paper. The precoder is represented by a product of power allocation matrix and constellation-forming matrix. There was an optimal algorithm introduced in the literature to globally maximize the channel mutual information by iteratively optimizing these two matrices. However, the computational complexity of the optimal algorithm is painfully high, especially when it is used with the high-order modulation and the high-data stream number. In this paper, we propose a novel sub-optimal low-complexity precoding algorithm and compare it with the optimal one. The new algorithm proceeds in two steps. First, the constellation-forming matrix is fixed in order to maximize the minimum Euclidean distance between the received symbols, which ensures high channel mutual information. Then, given the constellation-forming matrix, an iterative algorithm searches for the power allocation matrix that maximizes the channel mutual information. Since optimizing only one matrix instead of two, the new algorithm not only achieves a lower computational complexity but also avoids the use of initial values, which must be carefully selected for each channel and signal-to-noise ratio for fast convergence. Another advantage of the new algorithm is that the resulting precoder has a fixed form of received constellation thanks to the fixed constellation-forming matrix. This allows us to optimize the symbol mapping on the received constellation. Simulation results show that the proposed low-complexity precoder achieves error-rate performance that is close to performance of the optimal one when the conventional mapping is used. With the ever-growing number of mobile users and the rapid growth of wireless data service requirement, quality of experience (QoE) has emerged as an essential indicator for users, service providers, and operators. Meanwhile, to improve coverage and serve users, a lot of small cell base stations (SBSs) must be installed, and a great amount of energy is consumed. However, as far as is known, there are few works that have studied the combinatorial problem of QoE and energy aware SBS management, which jointly implements power selection, load management (SU allocation), and channel allocation. This paper investigates the problem of QoE and energy aware SBS management, which consists of power selection, load management, and channel allocation. In this paper, we resort to cloud technologies to solve such a complicated combinatorial problem and employ an iterative approach in which two subproblems are alternatively assigned and optimized at each iteration, i.e., 1) transmission power and load joint management and 2) channel allocation. We propose a two-dimensional-action extended weakly acyclic game theoretical scheme to optimize the two subproblems distributedly and iteratively. We define a novel two-dimensional-action pure strategy Nash equilibrium (2D-NE) and prove that at least one 2D-NE exists in the proposed game. With the help of cloud, we propose two kinds of better response algorithms to achieve 2D-NE of the proposed game $G_w$ . Recently, the intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) has become a promising technology for energy-, and spectrum-efficient communications by reconfiguring the radio environment. In this paper, we consider multiple-input single-output (MISO) transmissions from a multi-antenna access point (AP) to a receiver, assisted by a practical IRS with a power budget constraint. The IRS can work in energy harvesting, and signal reflecting phases. It firstly harvests RF energy from the AP's signal beamforming, and then uses it to sustain its operations in the signal reflecting phase. We aim to characterize the maximum capacity by optimizing the AP's transmit beamforming, the IRS's time allocation in two operational phases, and the IRS's passive beamforming to enhance the information rate. To solve the non-convex maximization problem, we exploit its structural properties, and decompose it into two sub-problems in two phases. The IRS's phase shift optimization in the reflecting phase follows a conventional passive beamforming problem to maximize the received signal power. In the energy harvesting phase, the IRS's time allocation, and the AP's transmit beamforming are jointly optimized using monotonic optimization. The integration of satellite communications into 5G ecosystem is pivotal to boost enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) services in highly dynamic scenarios and in areas not optimally supported by terrestrial infrastructures. Given the heterogeneity of the networks involved, network slicing is key networking paradigm to ensure different grades of quality of service (QoS) based on the users’ and verticals’ requirements. In this light, this paper proposes an optimisation framework able to exploit the available resources allocated to the defined network slices so as to meet the diverse QoS/QoE requirements exposed by the network actors. Resource allocation schemes built upon neural network algorithms are validated through extensive simulation campaigns that have shown the superiority of the proposed concepts with respect to other solution candidates available from the literature. In this paper, weighted sum energy efficiency (WSEE) in uplink and downlink of a multi-user non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system is considered. we adopt a more realistic power consumption model where signal processing power is modeled as a linear function of transmit power. Rather than the well-known network-centric global energy efficiency (GEE) metric, which is a pseudo-concave (PC) function, the weighted sum energy efficiency metric is considered, which is not PC in general. To find the optimum user power allocation Dinkelbach-like algorithm is adopted, by which each individual fractional EE function is converted to a parametric function where under some conditions on the weights falls into a class of convex optimization problems and it is solved in the dual domain. The dual variables are updated using a sub-gradient and cutting plane-based algorithm, which here ellipsoid method is used. Since the optimum solution restricts user weights, a low complexity suboptimum algorithm that does not consider any condition on user's weights is proposed. The problem is non-convex in general; hence, epigraph form followed by successive convex approximation (SCA) is used to deal with that problem. In this paper, we study a joint placement, resource allocation, and user association problem for UAV-assisted wireless networks with constrained backhaul links, where multiple UAV-mounted base stations (UBSs) are deployed to provide wireless services for ground users. We propose a novel framework to maximize the user throughput within the flight-time of UBSs and provides fairness among the users. We first obtain the optimal resource allocation schemes based on different fronthaul and backhaul conditions, and an efficient iterative algorithm is then developed to jointly optimize user association and UBS placement. The optimal UBS placement can be achieved by solving an unconstrained optimization problem which is a simplification of the initial constrained optimization problem based on the optimal resource allocation. We develop a dual-domain coordinated descent and bipartite graph matching based sub-process to identify an optimal user association that prefers the nearby UBSs, as the user association under constrained backhaul links have non-unique optimal solutions. Extensive simulations are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, and results show that our proposed method under constrained backhaul can improve both the average throughput by 49% and the fairness among the users by 47% in comparison with the method under ideal backhaul. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is one of the most significant technologies to meet the demand of high spectral efficiency (SE) in the fifth generation (5G) cellular networks. The utilization of simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) contributes to prolonging the battery life of the mobile users (MUs) and enhancing the system energy efficiency (EE), especially in the NOMA scenario where the inter-user interference can be reused for energy harvesting (EH). In this paper, we study the achievable data rate maximization problem for the downlink multi-carrier NOMA (MC-NOMA) network with power splitting (PS)-based SWIPT, in which power allocation and PS control are jointly optimized with the limitation of available power budget as well as the requirement for EH. The considered non-convex optimization problem is arduous to tackle, resulting from the presence of the coupled variables and the inter-user interference. To cope with the problem, a decoupled approach is developed, in which the power allocation and PS control are separated and the corresponding sub-problems are respectively solved through Lagrangian duality method. Furthermore, an alternative approach based on deep learning is proposed, which is capable of effectively obtaining the approximate optimal solution according to the empirical data. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed schemes, and demonstrate the superiority of the combination of PS-based SWIPT with MC-NOMA over SWIPT-aided single-carrier NOMA (SC-NOMA) and SWIPT-aided orthogonal multiple access (OMA). Device-to-device (D2D) communications are becoming a promising technology to support ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC). This paper incorporates contention-based access scheme into radio resource management (RRM), which can not only deal with the sporadic packet arrivals for URLLC-oriented D2D communications, but also avoid wasting time on sending requests and waiting for feedback. However, it cannot be ignored that the collisions may occur to yield transmission failure, especially when two or more users access the same resource block (RB). Thus, we should pay more attention to optimizing users’ RB selection to foster strengths and offset weaknesses of introducing contention-based access scheme, and thereby improve the transmission reliability within the latency budget. Specifically, we formulate the contention-based RRM as an optimization problem which aims to maximize the sum successful transmission probability (STP) of all D2D pairs under the strict latency constraint. Due to its intractability, this optimization problem is transformed into a mixed strategy non-cooperative game, which is proved to be an exact potential game with the sum STP as its potential function. Accordingly, the existence of pure strategy Nash equilibrium (NE) can be guaranteed, and importantly, the optimal integral solution to the optimization problem constitutes a pure strategy NE of the game. Moreover, we propose a distributed RB selection algorithm based on sequential spatial adaptive play (S-SAP), which can converge to the optimal pure strategy NE of the proposed game. Energy Harvesting (EH) technology enables Device-to-Device (D2D) User Equipments (DUEs) to harvest energy from ambient energy, making contributions to green communications and breaking the single battery-powered and the regional limitations of device deployment. The joint problem of energy harvesting and resource allocation in EH-based D2D Communication Networks (EH-DCNs) is a challenge issue. In this paper, we investigate the joint problem of resource allocation and EH time slot allocation of DUEs in EH-DCNs, where the DUEs harvest energy and multiplex Cellular User Equipments (CUEs) uplink resources. A channel assignment, power allocation and EH time slot allocation problem in EH-DCNs is formulated. The goal is to maximize energy- and spectral-efficiency with α-fairness while guaranteeing the EH constraints of DUEs and the quality of service of CUEs. The formulated problem is a non-convex mixed-integer multi-objective optimization problem. In order to solve the formulated problem, the multi-objective optimization problem is transformed into a single-objective optimization problem based on the weight sum method. We propose a joint iterative algorithm based on Lagrangian dual decomposition for α > 0 and α = 0, respectively. In order to help user terminal devices (UTDs) efficiently handle computation-intensive and time-delay sensitive computing task, multi-access edge computing (MEC) has been proposed. However, due to the differences among the performance of UTDs, and the resource limitation of MEC servers, the joint optimization between the offloading decisions of UTDs and the allocation of resources in network is still a focus of the research. This paper studies the joint computation offloading and resource allocation strategy in multi-user and multi-server scenarios. Firstly, we formulate the joint optimization problem of computation offloading and resource allocation as a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINP) problem to minimize the energy consumption of UTDs, by constraining the offloading decision, channel selection, power allocation and resource allocation. Secondly, we propose a two-stage heuristic optimization algorithm based on genetic algorithms, which divides the joint optimization problem of computation offloading and resource allocation in two stages. Based on the coupling relationship between the offloading decision and the resource allocation scheme, we iteratively update the solution of the problem, and finally obtain the stable convergence solution of the optimization problem. In this paper, we study an UAV base station (UBS) assisted cellular network that consists of a single ground macro base station (MBS), multiple UBSs, and multiple ground terminals. We assume that the MBS transmits to the UBSs and the terminals in the licensed band while the UBSs use a separate unlicensed band (e.g., Wi-Fi) to transmit to the terminals. For the utilization of the UBSs, we propose a cooperative decode–forward (DF) protocol in which multiple UBSs assist the terminals simultaneously while maintaining a predetermined interference level on the coexisting unlicensed band users. For our network setup, we formulate a joint optimization problem for minimizing the aggregate gap between the target rates and the throughputs of terminals by optimizing over the 3D positions of the UBSs and the resources (power, time, bandwidth) of the network. To solve the optimization problem, we propose an efficient nested structured algorithm based on particle swarm optimization and convex optimization methods. This paper aims at investigating the tradeoff between ergodic energy efficiency (EE) and spectral efficiency (SE) for device-to-device (D2D) communications underlaying cellular networks. Assuming average-based resource allocation, we propose a multiobjective optimization problem (MOOP) approach to deal with the EE and SE maximization problem. Specifically, the formulated MOOP results in the maximization of the total ergodic sum rate of the D2D users and the minimization of the total average transmit power of the D2D transmitters. Two practical scenarios are considered, i.e., a limited interference scenario, which includes the sparsely deployed scenario, and a densely deployed scenario, where for each scenario the maximum achievable EE and SE are derived. Specifically, considering the limited interference scenario, an upper bound is imposed on the received interference across different D2D communications, and closed-form expressions for the optimal power allocation, ergodic sum rate, and maximum EE are obtained. In the general, densely deployed scenario, however, the cross D2D network interference needs to be taken into account. We provide an optimal solution for the power control based on sequential fractional programming to tradeoff between complexity and performance gain. In a wirelessly-powered communication network (WPCN), an energy access point (E-AP) supplies the energy needs of the network nodes through radio frequency wave transmission, and the nodes store their received energy in their batteries for possible data transmission. In this paper, we propose an online control policy for energy transfer from the E-AP to the wireless nodes and for data transfer among the nodes. With our proposed control policy, all data queues of the nodes are stable, while the average energy consumption of the network is shown to be within a bounded gap of the minimum energy required for stabilizing the network. Our proposed policy is designed using a quadratic Lyapunov function to capture the limitations on the energy consumption of the nodes imposed by their battery levels. We show that under the proposed control policy, the backlog level in the data queues and the stored energy level in the batteries fluctuate in small intervals around some constant levels. In this paper, we propose a novel hybrid user pairing (HUP) scheme in multiuser multiple-input single-output non-orthogonal multiple access networks with simultaneous wireless information and power transfer. In this system, two information users with distinct channel conditions are optimally paired while energy users perform energy harvesting (EH) under non-linearity of the EH circuits. We consider the problem of jointly optimizing user pairing and power allocation to maximize the overall spectral efficiency (SE) and energy efficiency (EE) subject to user-specific quality-of-service and harvested power requirements. A new paradigm for the EE-EH trade-off is then proposed to achieve a good balance of network power consumption. Such design problems are formulated as the maximization of non-concave functions subject to the class of mixed-integer non-convex constraints, which are very challenging to solve optimally. To address these challenges, we first relax binary pairing variables to be continuous and transform the design problems into equivalent non-convex ones, but with more tractable forms. We then develop low-complexity iterative algorithms to improve the objectives and converge to a local optimum by means of the inner approximation framework. Simulation results show the convergence of proposed algorithms and the SE and EE improvements of the proposed HUP scheme over state-of-the-art designs. In addition, the effects of key parameters such as the number of antennas and dynamic power at the BS, target data rates, and energy threshold, on the system performance are evaluated to show the effectiveness of the proposed schemes in balancing resource utilization. Large-Scale Antenna System (LSAS) has played an important role in the emerging fifth-generation mobile systems (5G) due to its potential for excellent spectral efficiency. However, it may cause a mass of pilot overhead that is not conducive to the application of LSAS in massive Machine-Type Communications (mMTC), one of three typical traffic modes of 5G. In this paper, we present a pilot-efficient scheduling strategy for mMTC systems, in which the Base Stations (BS) are equipped with large-scale antennas, from a cross-layer perspective. Our scheme can not only schedule the massive devices to access the spectrum, but also allocate the BS’ power without the need for much pilot overhead. More particularly, the users allowed to access the spectrum can be selected based on their queue state information without any channel estimations, while the power allocation only needs the channel estimations for scheduled users. We shall show the optimality of the presented policy based on the Lyapunov optimization theory. To solve the Lyapunov optimization problem, we present a low complexity two-layer iteration algorithm for more practical purposes. Incorporating wireless caching in non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks is a promising technique to reduce the delivery latency and improve the quality of service. In this paper, we study a cache content placement optimization problem in a cellular NOMA downlink wireless caching network. Our goal is to minimize the average transmit power under the cache capacity constraints. The optimization problem is a non-linear integer programming, which is non-deterministic polynomial-time hard. To efficiently solve the problem, an alternating upper plane method based on quadratic knapsack problem (QKP) is proposed. To deal with the general situation that the sizes of files and cache capacities are not integers, an alternating method based on semidefinite relaxation is also proposed. Finally, a constrained concave-convex procedure-based iterative method is proposed to further reduce the computational complexity. In this paper, we study the trajectory and resource allocation design for downlink energy-efficient secure unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communication systems, where an information UAV assisted by a multi-antenna jammer UAV serves multiple ground users in the existence of multiple ground eavesdroppers. The resource allocation strategy and the trajectory of the information UAV, and the jamming policy of the jammer UAV are jointly optimized for maximizing the system energy efficiency. The joint design is formulated as a non-convex optimization problem taking into account the quality of service (QoS) requirement, the security constraint, and the imperfect channel state information (CSI) of the eavesdroppers. The formulated problem is generally intractable. As a compromise approach, the problem is divided into two subproblems which facilitates the design of a low-complexity suboptimal algorithm based on alternating optimization approach. Simulation results illustrate that the proposed algorithm converges within a small number of iterations and demonstrate some interesting insights: (1) the introduction of a jammer UAV facilitates a highly flexible trajectory design of the information UAV which is critical to improving the system energy efficiency; (2) by exploiting the spatial degrees of freedom brought by the multi-antenna jammer UAV, our proposed design can focus the artificial noise on eavesdroppers offering a strong security mean to the system. The application of network slicing to mobile edge computing (MEC) systems has aroused great interests from both academia and industry. However, the optimization of network slicing and MEC in most existing research works only focuses on resource slicing, energy scheduling, and power allocation from the perspective of mobile devices, without considering the operator's revenue. In this paper, we propose a novel framework for network slicing in MEC systems, including slice request admission and a revenue model, to investigate the operator's revenue escalation problem while considering traffic variations. The revenue model is mainly composed of the longer-term revenue and short-term revenue. Particularly, we jointly optimize slice request admission in the long-term and resource allocation in the short-term to maximize the operator's average revenue. By employing the Lyapunov optimization technique, we develop an algorithm without requiring any prior-knowledge of traffic distributions, referred to as the DNSRA, to solve the problem. To reduce the computational complexity of directly solving the DNSRA, we decouple the optimization variables for efficient algorithm design. By this, the strategies for user association and CPU-cycle frequency are obtained in closed forms, respectively. Power allocation and subcarriers assignment are obtained by employing the successive convex approximation approach. Meanwhile, we develop a heuristic algorithm to obtain the dynamic slice request admission decision. Simulation results show that the proposed DNSRA can strike a flexible balance between the average revenue and the average delay, and can significantly increase the operator's revenue against existing schemes. This correspondence paper proposes a novel low-complexity radio-frequency (RF) precoding and combining scheme for wideband multiuser millimeter wave hybrid-array systems, targeting at maximizing the system energy efficiency. We first derive a nearly-optimal fully-connected RF precoder, via minimizing the correlation across different users and subcarriers. We then extend the optimization solution to subarray-based architectures by exploiting the unitary matrix feature of subarrays. This paper addresses the formulation of power allocation for cluster based multihop vehicular relaying communications in order to improve the network quality-of-services (QoS). The cluster-to-cluster (C2C) channel is completely depend on the power gain of vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) channel that increases the difficulties of the power allocation problem. To meet this goal, we have derived a global channel obtained by joint V2V and C2C cooperation. The most challenging aspect is however the joint V2V and C2C power allocation of the global channel due to the association of its multi-variables objective function. To solve this problem, we apply an alternative optimization technique to make the global problem into a series of sub-problems. We then apply a semi-definite programming (SDP)-based iterative gradient descent (SDP-IGD) power allocation to assign power in each relay. The SDP-IGD power allocation algorithm has been extended from Lagrange Multiplier (LM) that provides better performance than separate LM technique. The minimum mean-square error (MMSE)-decision feedback equalizer (MMSE-DFE) is designed at the receiver to improve the signal detection capability under exact channel state information (CSI) in all forward-and-backward links. In this paper, we study a dual-hop wireless powered communication network (DH-WPCN), where the two-way communication between the users and the access point (AP) is assisted by a relay. Assuming a piece-wise linear energy harvesting (EH) model for the users and the relay, we investigate the problem of total throughput maximization for both amplify-and-forward (AF) and decode-and-forward (DF) relaying modes. To deal with the non-convexity of the throughput maximization problem, we apply the block coordinate descent (BCD) technique and alternately optimize different blocks of optimization variables until convergence is achieved. Numerical results demonstrate the substantial performance gain of the proposed scheme with piece-wise linear EH model as compared to the case with oversimplified linear EH model. Network slicing has been considered as a promising candidate to provide customized services for vehicular applications that have extremely high requirements of latency and reliability. However, the high mobility of vehicles poses significant challenges to resource management in such a stochastic vehicular environment with time-varying service demands. In this paper, we develop an online network slicing scheduling strategy for joint resource block (RB) allocation and power control in vehicular networks. The long-term time-averaged total system capacity is maximized while guaranteeing strict ultra-reliable and low-latency requirements of vehicle communication links, subject to stability constraints of task queues. The formulated problem is a mixed integer nonlinear stochastic optimization problem, which is decoupled into three subproblems by leveraging Lyapunov optimization. In order to tackle this problem, we propose an online algorithm, namely JRPSV, to obtain the optimal RB allocation and power control at each time slot according to the current network state. Furthermore, rigorous theoretical analysis is conducted for the proposed JRPSV algorithm, indicating that the system capacity and the system average latency obey a $[ {{\mathcal O}({1/V}),{\mathcal O}(V)} ]$ trade-off with the control parameter $V$. To satisfy the rapid growth of data service demands on the limited spectrum resources, wireless network virtualization (WNV) has been proposed as a promising technology in the future wireless networks. Meanwhile, Device-to-Device (D2D) communication, as an underlay to cellular networks, is also a proposed solution to promote the spectrum efficiency. However, it is a challenge to design an appropriate virtual resource slicing strategy among different wireless service providers in the two-tier LTE-D2D networks. In this paper, considering dynamic traffic arrivals and time-varying channel conditions, the virtualized resource management in the multi-service coexisting LTE-D2D networks is formulated into a multi-objective stochastic optimization problem. Leveraging on weighted Tchebycheff approach and Lyapunov optimization technique, the multi-objective stochastic optimization problem can be transformed into a delay-aware optimization problem, which is a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem and can be transformed into a convex one by a series of reformulation. A distributed algorithm based on the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) is proposed to obtain a close-to-optimal solution with a lower computational complexity. In this paper, we consider a downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) enabled heterogeneous small cells network (HSCN), where the macro base station simultaneously communicates with multiple small cell base stations (SBSs) through wireless backhaul. In each small cell, users are grouped by NOMA bases and then served by their respective SBS. The proposed framework considers the realistic imperfect channel state information and quality of service requirements of users. The goal is to investigate an energy-efficient joint power, and bandwidth allocation scheme, which aims to maximize the energy efficiency (EE) of the small cells in downlink NOMA-HSCN constrained by the maximum transmit power and the minimum required data rate simultaneously. The optimization problem is non-convex due to the fractional objective function and non-convex constraint and thus challenging to obtain an exact solution efficiently. To this end, the joint optimization is first decomposed into two subproblems. Then, an iterative algorithm to solve the power optimization subproblem is proposed with guaranteed convergence. Furthermore, we derive a closed-form solution for the bandwidth allocation subproblem. In this paper, we address the problem of joint covert communication and secure transmission in untrusted relaying networks when multiple wardens exist in the network. We first consider a system model consisting of one source, one untrusted amplify-and-forward relay, one destination, and one warden. For covert communications, our aim is to prevent the warden from detecting the presence of communications via the source-relay-destination link. For secure transmission, our aim is to prevent the untrusted relay from decoding the source signal. To satisfy these requirements, we propose that the destination and the source inject jamming signals during the source-to-relay and relay-to-destination transmission phases, respectively. For the considered system model, we propose a power allocation strategy to maximize the secrecy rate and satisfy the covert requirements in both of the phases. Given that the proposed optimization problem is non-convex, we employ the successive convex approximation (SCA) approach to derive a tractable solution. To obtain further insights, we generalize our analytical results to consider multiple untrusted relays and multiple wardens. We focus on two scenarios of non-colluding and colluding wardens. Our results highlight that as the number of relays increases, the achievable secrecy rate increases while the average detection error probability decreases. We all have encountered unsatisfactory video viewing experience with mobile devices in hot spot areas where a crowd of people are demanding video streaming simultaneously. One possible solution to relieve the problem is to use the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) as a relay to improve the quality-of-experience (QoE). In this paper, we focus on the allocation of bandwidth and transmission power for multiuser video streaming in UAV relay networks. Our goal is to maximize the total long-term QoE of users, which are determined by the freezing time and the bit rate of video. Voltage sags mitigation has become a significant concern for utilities due to the pressure from both customers and regulators recently. This paper proposes a novel multi-objective optimization formulation for STATCOM allocation problem to mitigate voltage sags. The allocation of STATCOM is formulated as a multi-objective optimization problem (MOP) with two conflicting objectives including the voltage sag performance and annual investment costs of STATCOM. To analytically evaluate the voltage sag performance in the optimization process, a mathematical voltage sag profile calculation model of power system with multiple STATCOMs is proposed and solved by nonlinear programming method. System Average RMS Variation Frequency index-X index is chosen to quantify the voltage sag performance for optimization. Sensitivity-based candidate bus selection is also performed as an essential step to reduce problem size. An improved multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (MOEA) called SPEA2+SDE (Strength Pareto Evolutionary Algorithm with shifting density estimation) is utilized to solve the proposed MOP model, so a set of Pareto optimal STATCOM allocations for voltage sag mitigation can be derived demonstrating the trade-off between two objectives and better supporting the decision-making. In this paper, we investigate robust resource allocation algorithm design for multiuser downlink multiple-input single-output (MISO) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communication systems, where we account for the various uncertainties that are unavoidable in such systems and, if left unattended, may severely degrade system performance. We jointly optimize the two-dimensional (2-D) trajectory and the transmit beamforming vector of the UAV for minimization of the total power consumption. The algorithm design is formulated as a non-convex optimization problem taking into account the imperfect knowledge of the angle of departure (AoD) caused by UAV jittering, user location uncertainty, wind speed uncertainty, and polygonal no-fly zones (NFZs). Despite the non-convexity of the optimization problem, we solve it optimally by employing monotonic optimization theory and semidefinite programming relaxation which yields the optimal 2-D trajectory and beamforming policy. Since the developed optimal resource allocation algorithm entails a high computational complexity, we also propose a suboptimal iterative low-complexity scheme based on successive convex approximation to strike a balance between optimality and computational complexity. Our simulation results reveal not only the significant power savings enabled by the proposed algorithms compared to two baseline schemes, but also confirm their robustness with respect to UAV jittering, wind speed uncertainty, and user location uncertainty. Moreover, our results unveil that the joint presence of wind speed uncertainty and NFZs has a considerable impact on the UAV trajectory. Nevertheless, by counteracting the wind speed uncertainty with the proposed robust design, we can simultaneously minimize the total UAV power consumption and ensure a secure trajectory that does not trespass any NFZ. Different from the existing works, in this paper we investigate the pilot allocation in multi-cell massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, aiming to maximize the spectral efficiency (SE) subject to the constraint that the number of user equipments (UEs) satisfying the quality of service (QoS) is maximized. Since the considered bilevel optimization problem that is tough to handle, we resort to the greedy algorithms with low computational complexity. We propose a QoS constrained (QC) pilot allocation scheme, which sequentially allocates the pilot sequence having large interference power to the UE with small signal power so that the number of UEs satisfying QoS can be maximized and then the SE can also be maximized. In this paper, we study the optimal power allocation for a radio frequency (RF)-powered cooperative network and propose energy-saving time switching relaying (ES-TSR) and energy-saving power splitting relaying (ES-PSR) protocols with an iterative energy-saving (ES) algorithm. In particular, we develop the analytical expressions of the channel capacity and the total energy consumption for the considered cooperative network. From the past approaches, the optimal power allocation to maximize the system energy efficiency of the RF-powered cooperative networks has been studied under the assumption that the relay must utilize all of its harvested power in each transmission block. This work considers optimal power allocation to maximize the system energy efficiency for the case when the relay node can save energy for the next transmission block. Our simulation results show that the proposed ES-TSR and ES-PSR protocols outperformed the existing TS-based and PS-based relaying protocols with $\text{14.22}\%$ and $\text{8.4}\% $ , respectively, in paticular when the number of transmission blocks $\boldsymbol{L} = 10$.
