This paper investigates the robust containment control problem of multiagent systems with heterogeneous uncertainty and nonlinearity while the nonlinear parts have to satisfy the Lipschitz condition. In this paper, both input time-delay and data transmission time-delay between the agents are considered simultaneously and communication topology of the multiagent systems may switch in the steady-state condition. Under the mentioned conditions, the objective of this paper is to make all the followers’ states converge to the convex hull shaped by the leaders’ states with an expected exponential rate. To this end, an appropriate smooth protocol is proposed. Then, a Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional composed of five terms is proposed and the stability condition is denoted by two linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). In addition to the stability assurance, solving the LMIs would obtain the suitable gains for the protocol. Finally, some numerical simulations are given to verify the theoretical analysis. Improving the efficiency of traffic signal control is an effective way to alleviate traffic congestion at signalized intersections. To achieve effective management of the system-wide traffic flows, current research tends to focus on applying reinforcement learning (RL) techniques for collaborative traffic signal control in a traffic road network. However, the existing collaboration-based methods often ignore the impact of transmission delay for exchanging traffic flow information on the system. Most of the studies assume that the signal controllers can collect all instantaneous vehicular features without delay. To fill the gap, we propose an RL-based cooperative traffic signal control scheme considering the data transmission delay issue in a traffic road network. In this paper, we (1) design our new RL agents to cooperatively control the traffic signals by improving the reward and state representation based on the state-of-the-art max-pressure control theory; (2) propose a traffic state prediction method to address the data transmission delay issue by decreasing the discrepancy between the real-time and delayed traffic conditions; (3) evaluated the performance of our proposed work on both synthetic and real-world scenarios with a different range of data transmission delays. The results demonstrate that our method surpassed the performance of the previous max-pressure-based traffic signal control methods and addressed the data transmission delay issue. Excessive switching activity in the fault-free circuit can cause a fault-free circuit to fail because of increased delays. For the same reason, excessive switching activity in a faulty circuit can cause a delay fault to escape detection. This paper observes that the switching activity is higher in the presence of multiple delay faults with higher multiplicities (larger numbers of single faults that are present in the circuit together). The challenge in addressing multiple faults is related to their large number. This paper addresses this challenge by an iterative procedure that is applied to transition faults under a low-power broadside test set, and has two subprocedures: 1) the first subprocedure finds multiple transition faults with excessive faulty switching activity and 2) the second subprocedure modifies the test set so as to avoid excessive faulty switching activity for the faults found by the first subprocedure. With every additional iteration there are fewer multiple transition faults that exhibit excessive faulty switching activity. The experimental results for benchmark circuits demonstrate the levels of excessive faulty switching activity in the presence of multiple transition faults, and the possibility of reducing or even eliminating it after a small number of iterations. The emergence of applications which require high-voltage switches has created a tendency to use semiconductor device series stacks. These series stacks permit operation at blocking voltages above semiconductor elements’ nominal voltage. Insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBT) are currently utilized for controllability and switching speed, when these topologies are employed. The main challenge therewith is guaranteeing voltage balance between IGBTs, both when blocked and when switching transistors. Most of the methods which have been proposed to mitigate static and dynamic voltage unbalances increase transistor losses. The series stack loss-less high voltage switch (LHVS) which mitigates voltage unbalances, thus reducing switching losses, is presented in this paper. LHVS consists of a circuit, which ensures soft IGBT switching, an energy recovery circuit, and a gate delay compensation circuit. Additionally, the insulation voltage level is guaranteed to be equal between control circuit and high-voltage side of each IGBT. The operating principle of the LHVS is detailed in this paper, as is experimental validation which has been performed for three series stack modules. Static unbalances are reduced to 1%, while the differences between collector–emitter voltage curves in switching “on” do not surpass 8 ns, and switching losses are reduced by 41%, as compared to the hard-switching topology. Clamp mode snubbers are very well suited for the series structure of the insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) in pulsed power applications. They properly meet the necessities expected from them such as the fast operating of the series IGBTs since they have no effect on the gate side. In addition, they can provide safe voltage condition for the IGBTs in short circuit faults, which are very probable in pulsed applications. The clamp mode snubber can perform its voltage balancing task whenever the power capacity of the snubber can support the injected powers due to the voltage unbalancing factors. This paper initially introduces the main factors injecting power to the snubbers. Then, it will be illustrated that the exact injected power to each predetermined snubber cannot be determined due to the uncertainties about the effect of the voltage unbalancing factors. Although it is impossible to determine the exact value of the power injected to each snubber, the total injected powers to the snubbers can be calculated. Therefore, as an effective remedy, this paper proposes a concentrated snubber. Using the proposal, all the injected powers are conducted to a centralized circuit and can be easily managed. In addition, analytical expressions are provided for proper dimensioning of the proposed concentrated snubber elements. Data center networks typically adopt multi-rooted tree topologies to provide high bisection bandwidth. Various fine-grained load balancing schemes have been proposed to split flows across multiple paths. However, data center networks suffer from many uncertainties such as highly dynamic traffic. These uncertainties easily make network become asymmetric, resulting in significant packet reordering. Unfortunately, existing solutions passively deal with packet reordering based on a threshold and hardly adapt to asymmetric networks because of lacking the explicit reordering feedback. These solutions either fail to quickly respond to packet loss or cause unnecessary fast retransmission, which reduces link utilization and increases flow completion time. In this paper, we propose a fine-grained load balancing scheme RMC to eliminate the impact of packet reordering and handle uncertainties in asymmetric networks. To avoid unnecessary fast retransmission, the switch proactively identifies reordered packet according to local queue length and global path latency. Furthermore, we employ a coding technique with redundancy optimization to reduce long-tailed flow completion time under network asymmetry. Through a series of large-scale NS2 simulations and testbed experiments, we demonstrate that RMC effectively avoids unnecessary fast retransmission under different network scenarios and reduces flow completion time by up to 72% compared with state-of-the-art schemes. This paper deals with event-triggered H∞ filtering problem for switched continuous-time systems with quantization. A multiple periodic sampling-based event-triggering strategy is adopted to select those “necessary” sampled signals to be transmitted. As a result, the amount of communication and the frequency of signal updates can be reduced significantly. Regarding the nonideal communication network, we consider network-induced delays and packet disorders, which are common during packet transmission through networks. In order to cope with packet disorders, an active packet loss approach is introduced. As such, a new time-delay system model is established, by which the filtering error system is modeled as a switched system with an interval time-varying delay. Then, by employing piecewise Lyapunov functional method and average dwell time technique, some criteria are derived to ensure that the filtering error system can achieve a prescribed level of $H_\infty $ performance. Moreover, the relationship between switching instants and the data updating instants in filter is discussed in detail, and the filter gains and event-triggering parameters can be jointly designed in terms of solutions to some linear matrix inequalities. Inductor current is an important feedback parameter in synchronous buck converters (SBCs). It is used for overcurrent protection, current sharing among interleaved modules, and current-mode feedback regulation, among others. While implementing a digital controller, inductor current is sensed and fed into the controller through a high sampling frequency analog to digital converter (ADC). As the switching frequency of the converter becomes higher, the need for an even higher sampling frequency ADC also goes up, which is a distinct disadvantage in terms of the overall cost. This paper discusses a simple current estimation technique that avoids use of any expensive current sensor and high sampling frequency ADCs. The paper shows that in a buck converter, inductor current can be estimated by tracking the width of the switch node voltage. Implementation and limitations of the proposed current estimation scheme are discussed in detail. The proposed method is validated using a 3.3 V–15 A SBC prototype and results show the estimation technique is accurate within 5% with a converter switching frequency of 800 kHz. In order to prove the effectiveness of the technique in feedback regulation, the current estimation technique is used to implement average current mode and hysteretic current mode control on a SBC. To prove the effectiveness of the proposed current estimation scheme, it is used in closed-loop control of the SBC to verify the dynamic responses, such as start-up transient, step change in load, and reference. This paper is concerned with the consensus problem of general linear dynamic multiagent systems with stochastic sampling. In this paper, the sampling intervals randomly switch between two different values. The communication topology between agents is fixed and directed. Full- and reduced-order observers are designed based on neighbor agents’ relative output information. The algorithms to construct such observers are also provided. By using the estimated states of the agents, the observer-based consensus protocol with stochastic sampling are presented. Sufficient conditions to ensure consensus in mean square are derived by using Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, simulations are given to examine the effectiveness of the proposed methods. This paper is concerned with the event-triggered finite-time control problem for networked switched linear systems by using an asynchronous switching scheme. Not only the problem of finite-time boundedness, but also the problem of input-output finite-time stability is considered in this paper. Compared with the existing event-triggered results of the switched systems, a new type of event-triggered condition is proposed. Sufficient conditions are established to guarantee the event-based asynchronous closed-loop systems are both finite-time bounded and input-output finite-time stable. A set of event-triggered finite-time bounded and input-output finite-time stabilizing controllers are designed under the asynchronous control scheme. It is revealed that the triggered thresholds determine the number of sampling points transmitted to the controller, and the smaller triggered parameters indicate the less-sampled data needed to be transmitted to the controller under the event-triggered scheme. Superjunction MOSFETs in cascode configuration with low-voltage silicon MOSFETs are evaluated in this paper. The proposed structure combines the good switching performance provided by the cascode configuration with the benefits of the silicon technology such as its robustness, maturity, and low cost. This paper aims to explain and to demonstrate the reduction of switching losses of superjunction MOSFETs in cascode configuration with respect to their standalone counterparts (directly driven). A detailed simulation analysis of power loss contributions is carried out under hard-switching operation. Moreover, experimental evidence is provided using a boost converter (100–400 V) operating in continuous conduction mode for different switching frequencies (100–400 kHz) and output power levels (180–500 W). This paper proposes a unified framework to design sliding-mode control for stabilization of delayed memristive neural networks (DMNNs) with external disturbances. Under the presented framework, finite-time stabilization, and fixed-time stabilization of the controlled DMNNs can be, respectively, obtained by choosing different values for a specific control parameter. It is proved that the system responses can be made reaching the designed sliding-mode surface in finite and fixed time, and then stay on it. Moreover, it also illustrates that the inevitable external disturbances can be rejected by the designed sliding-mode control. This paper considers the problems on the mean square exponential synchronization and the almost surely exponential synchronization for neutral stochastic dynamical delay networks with Markovian switching via the single pinning impulsive control. By using a unified approach incorporating the concept of average impulsive interval and Lyapunov function, and the Borel–Cantelli lemma, two criteria on the mean square exponential stability and the almost surely exponential stability for impulsive neutral stochastic delay systems with Markovian switching are derived. It is shown that the impulsive control with a suitable impulsive strength can stochastically stabilize the underlying systems. With the symmetry and irreducibility of the switching topologies, and the obtained stochastic stability criteria, sufficient conditions are derived to determine the mean square exponential synchronization of the underlaying networks via the single pinning impulsive controller, which are given with algebraic inequalities and ${\mathcal {M}}$ -matrix. This paper is concerned with the consensus issue for a class of multiagent systems with Markovian switching topology under aperiodic sampled data measurements. By constructing a novel piecewise stochastic Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, some novel conditions with less conservative are established such that the consensus is achieved in the mean square sense. In contrast to some previous publications, the sample period is no longer fixed and the transition probability matrix of Markovian switching topology is uncertain. This issue which is of practical and theoretical significance is further investigated when the sampled data controller of each agent is suffered from distinct time-varying input delay. Quite different with the related studies, a maximally allowable input delay upper bound is replaced by the permissible input delay interval. Furthermore, the corresponding consensus is elegantly obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Event-triggered control (ETC) is becoming increasingly popular in load frequency control (LFC) operation in power systems. So far, the existing literature has primarily focused on load disturbance rejection in face of communication delay without considering much on networked-induced measurement disturbances and messages sent. In this paper, we study the LFC operation as a problem of networked control system and propose, for the first time, an ETC based switching approach for frequency regulation. We derive delay-dependent conditions to obtain the lower bound on inter-event time during event-trigger mechanism which assures the robust stability under networked induced time-varying delays and measurement disturbance and reduction in the amount of sent measurements. This paper investigates a stabilization problem for linear systems subject to saturation and time-varying delays in the control input, where the delay takes both large and small values in an alternating manner. Based on the delay values, the considered system is described by a switched system including a stabilizable subsystem and an unstabilizable subsystem. By using Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional method, a time-dependent switching rule orchestrating the proposed controllers is established to guarantee the regional stabilization of the closed-loop system. To obtain a domain of attraction as large as possible, an optimization problem is formulated in the form of linear matrix inequalities. In this paper, we study a frequency-modulated continuous-wave based radio-frequency identification system, which is composed of a reader with single transmitter and multiple receiving antennas as well as multiple active backscatter tags. In particular, our contribution is twofold in this paper. First, we construct a general architecture for achieving the functionality of wireless positioning based on the principle of the switched injection-locked oscillator (SILO). Unlike the previous SILO-based schemes, some limitations on the pulsed waveform generated by the tags are overcome. In addition, only one reader set up with multiple receiving antennas is used to precisely localize tags based on the delay and direction-of-arrival estimates. Second, the developed algorithms make use of a shift invariant property among the baseband signal snapshots of intra- and/or intermodulation intervals, i.e., snapshots in one modulation period and/or sets of snapshots in multiple modulation periods. A new joint singular value decomposition based ESPRIT algorithm is developed for determining the number of multiple active tags and their positions by implementing the matrix reconstruction and stacking techniques. The proposed method has its basic foundation on the processing of received data with global fusion scheme. In this way, this method can improve the performance of parameter estimates in terms of accuracy and resolution without suffering from the pair matching problem. Digital current controllers have the key impact on the performance of grid-side converters and ac drives. The voltage disturbances are commonly suppressed by enhancing the controller with an inner active resistance feedback. In cases where the switching noise and parasitic oscillations introduce sampling errors, conventional sampling is replaced by the oversampling-based error-free feedback acquisition which derives the average of the measured currents over the past switching period. The time delay introduced into the feedback path creates difficulties in designing the current controller with the active resistance. In this paper, we introduce a novel structure of the current controller, which includes the error-free sampling and the active resistance feedback. Devised structure improves the disturbance rejection by extending the range of permissible values of the active resistance. Controller structure is based on the internal model principles, and it maintains the input step response unaffected. Scan-based tests that maintain close-to-functional operation conditions are important for avoiding overtesting of delay faults while achieving the fault coverage required for avoiding test escapes. For a measurable proximity to functional operation conditions, partially functional broadside tests have a known Hamming distance between their scan-in states and reachable states. Another parameter that is important for the discussion of overtesting is the switching activity. This paper suggests a combined metric, where a reduced switching activity is taken as a safety margin that allows a higher Hamming distance between the scan-in state and a reachable state. The metric is defined such that a value of 100% or lower is preferred. This paper proposes a guaranteed cost control method for uncertain networked control systems with a hybrid communication scheme. First, a hybrid communication scheme including time-triggered control and periodic event-triggered control (ETC) is presented for the system under consideration. The major features of the proposed scheme include three aspects: 1) instead of a fixed switching process, the switching between two triggering methods is stochastic satisfying Bernoulli distribution; 2) the condition of ETC utilizes a more recently transmission data packet, which results in reducing the transmission frequency of sampled data than some existing ones; and 3) Zeno phenomenon can be excluded since the minimum interevent time is implicity denoted by the sampling period. Second, the closed-loop system subject to the hybrid communication scheme and network-induced delay is modeled as an uncertain stochastic system with an interval time-varying delay. Two theorems are presented for the robustly mean-square stability and guaranteed cost controller design of the derived system. Then, a minimization problem is proposed to optimize the upper bound of cost function, in which the trigger parameters and feedback gain can be designed simultaneously. This paper presents a two-stage three-phase solar photovoltaic (PV) system, which is controlled through a novel enhanced second order generalized integrator (ESOGI) based control technique. The proposed ESOGI is used for fundamental component extraction from nonlinear load current and distorted grid voltages. This integrator effectively and simultaneously manages to address the DC offset, inter-harmonic and integrator delay problems of the traditional SOGI. In addition, this control technique provides power factor correction, harmonic elimination, and load balancing functionalities. The ESOGI controller is used to generate reference grid currents for controlling the voltage source converter (VSC), interfacing the PV panel with the grid. Extensive experimental results on a developed prototype in the laboratory, depict that the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the grid injected currents and voltages are found well under IEEE-519 standard. This paper considers the problem of asynchronous ${H}_{{\infty }}$ control for networked Markovian jump systems subject to probabilistic packet dropouts and communication delays in the measurement channel. A new dynamic output-feedback-based asynchronous controller is proposed wherein the dynamic output-feedback controller modes need not synchronize with the system modes. By utilizing results from stochastic Lyapunov–Krasovskii stability theory, sufficient conditions in terms of matrix inequalities are derived such that the closed-loop networked Markovian jump system is stochastically stable and achieves the prescribed ${H}_{{\infty }}$ performance. Using the Schur complement technique and under the assumption that the input matrix is full rank, the sufficient condition is reduced to a linear matrix inequality and the dynamic output-feedback-based asynchronous controller is synthesized. This paper investigates a problem of stability analysis for a class of nonlinear systems with a time-varying delay taking both large and small values in an alternating manner. This problem is a delay-dependent stability analysis one but it shares some features with delay-independent ones. Hence, traditional stability analysis techniques for systems with delay are not applicable. By building upon our previous works, we first introduce the concept of delay-hybrid-dependent stability, which characterizes the delays described above. The considered system is first represented as a system with a switched delay. Then by using switching techniques and Lyapunov–Krasovskii functionals (LKFs), a new stability criterion is developed. In this paper, the stability problem of delayed neural networks is investigated by adopting some switching methods. First, the delay interval is divided into many smaller variable intervals, and when the smaller variable interval is regarded as a mode of the delay, delayed neural networks are modeled as switched systems. Then, by using some switching methods, less conservative stability criteria are derived to ensure the stability of delayed neural networks. The time delay caused by the digital computation and the update of the duty cycle tend to worsen the dynamic performance of digitally controlled power converters. This paper proposes a real-time calculation method for single-phase cascaded H-bridge (CHB) inverters with the phase-shifted carrier pulsewidth modulation (PSC-PWM) to eliminate the time delay caused by the digital computation in the control loop without the loss of duty cycle. In the approach, a sampling method for the PSC-PWM applied in a single-phase CHB inverter is introduced, which samples the current and voltage at points of the intersection for triangular carriers of legs in all adjacent H-bridge cells. The sampling method is used alternately with the conventional regular sampling method by following a selection rule in order to avoid the loss of duty cycle. Experimental results verify that the proposed method effectively improves the transient performance of the current control loop and suppresses the effect of the distortion of the grid voltage on the line current. In this paper, a distributed resource allocation problem is investigated based on a continuous-time algorithm in the presence of time-varying communication delays. The considered delays are allowed to take both “large” and “small” delay values in an alternating manner. The “small” delays refer to a class of delays that guarantee the exponential convergence to the optimal solution; otherwise, they are called “large” delays. The existence of “large” delays may affect the behavior of the optimal allocation solution, and the existing algorithms with delays may not be applicable to this kind of “large” delays. To address “large” delay cases, a switched algorithm is first proposed based on switching techniques, and then, such an algorithm is modeled as switched delay systems. Second, by adopting the Lyapunov functional theory, the upper bound of delays is first derived to guarantee the exponential convergence to the optimal solution under “small” delays, and then, a delay-dependent sufficient condition is obtained to ensure exponential convergence of the proposed algorithm based on some restrictions on “large” delays. Digital peak current mode (DPCM) control is widely used for dc–dc converters operating in continuous current mode. However, current tracking delay (CTD) in the system is normally neglected in the modeling stage, which leads to poor compensator design and degraded performance. This paper investigates CTD effect in boost converter with different DPCM controls. Based on dynamic relationship between the reference current and actual inductor current, the CTD transfer functions are derived, which improves the accuracy of small signal model. Since CTD degrades the phase margin of the system, equivalent migration of right half plane zero is proposed to model CTD effect. This method is very simple and straightforward, which facilitates the compensator design. Furthermore, two novel DPCM control strategies with minimized CTD are proposed, and they are based on duty cycle restriction and duty cycle extension, respectively. Both controls greatly reduce the CTD effect and improve the response speed. Besides, the duty cycle extension benefits from an extended pulsewidth modulation (ExPWM). This optimizes the calculation algorithm and speed, while improving the time margin for digital calculations. Combined with the proposed models and controls, the CTD effect is greatly reduced. Droop control is broadly used in dc power distribution systems, e.g., dc microgrids. Implementing droop control for switch mode power supplies requires the measurement of average current. Synchronous sampling is used in digital control systems to obtain the average of a triangular inductor waveform. However, the dead time, semiconductor turn-on and turn-off delays, and signal conditioning delays shift the sensed waveform and change the effective duty cycle, resulting in a misalignment and measurement error from the average value. This paper proposes a duty cycle weighted averaging method based on double sampling. By sampling twice per switching period and averaging the results using duty cycle as the weighting factor, the error due to waveform misalignment is theoretically eliminated. The result always equals the average value of the triangle. This method does not rely on the knowledge of circuit delays, making it easy to implement and robust to parameter variations. Simulations and experimental measurements validate the superior performance compared with conventional single and double sampling methods. In this paper, systematic characterization and the corresponding suppression strategies of dynamic OFF-state leakage current (${I}_{ \mathrm{\scriptscriptstyle OFF}}$) in Schottky-type p-GaN gate high-electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs) are presented based on fast pulsed ${I}$ – ${V}$ measurement and consecutive switching measurement. It is found that the high ${I}_{ \mathrm{\scriptscriptstyle OFF}}$ under dynamic pulse mode without hole injection is a result of the reduced voltage blocking capabilities (both lateral and vertical) with weaker trapping effect in the buffer, and the dynamic ${I}_{ \mathrm{\scriptscriptstyle OFF}}$ induced by ON-state hole injection is caused by further increased lateral conductivity through the buffer from source to drain. The corresponding behaviors under continuous waveforms with different switching conditions are analyzed to identify effective approaches for the suppression of dynamic ${I}_{ \mathrm{\scriptscriptstyle OFF}}$ in practical switching operations. A higher temperature is shown to be beneficial to the reduction of the dynamic ${I}_{ \mathrm{\scriptscriptstyle OFF}}$ induced by ON-state hole injection. To completely eliminate the dynamic ${I}_{ \mathrm{\scriptscriptstyle OFF}}$ caused by ON-state hole injection and minimize the OFF-state power consumption in practical power switching applications, a sufficiently large negative OFF-state gate bias (e.g., ${V}_{\text {GS}, \mathrm{\scriptscriptstyle OFF}}\le -{3}$ V) is recommended in the gate driver turn-off voltage design for the Schottky-type p-GaN gate HEMTs. Video content delivery over Internet is receiving increasing attention from both industry and academia, especially for the multiview video contents, as it is the basis to support various applications, such as 3-D video, virtual reality, free view video, and so on. To cope with the dynamic nature of Internet throughput, dynamic adaptive streaming over HTTP (DASH) has been introduced to control the video streaming based on the network conditions. In this paper, we design a streaming framework to improve the user experience of the multiview video streaming over DASH, considering the user behavior of the viewpoint navigation during the streaming process. To eliminate the view switching delay, a multiple view navigation rule is introduced to pre-fetch the possible switching viewpoints. An optimal bitrate allocation scheme is proposed for the introduced rule, allowing the clients to maximize the video quality. Moreover, we found the video quality and the playback starvation probability are conflicting factors, while both are essential for the user’s quality of experience (QoE). To tackle this issue, a QoE optimization solution is designed to maximize the overall performance in the proposed framework. Product availability is a critical aspect of customer service for retailers and manufacturers. When product is out of stock (OOS), both retailers and manufacturers may suffer depending on the demand-side characteristics, such as whether consumers are more loyal to the store or the brand. While both retailers and manufacturers contribute to OOS situations, the supply-side characteristics, such as whether the retailer or manufacturer is responsible for in-store fulfillment [i.e., traditional versus direct store delivery (DSD) distribution], may impact OOS performance. DSD involves the manufacturer bypassing the retailer's distribution center and delivering product directly to the retailer's individual stores. This paper considers demand- and supply-side issues simultaneously to determine the implications of stockouts for both retailers and manufacturers using an agent-based simulation. Effective identification of the load torque is one of the key aspects in improving the performance of servo drive systems against load disturbances. Sliding mode variable structure control has become a popular method in the development of a load torque identification (LTID) algorithm due to its parameter insensitivity and easy realization features. However, existing LTID sliding mode observers (SMO) with conventional structure have the disadvantages of high-frequency chattering and poor estimation accuracy, which limit its application in high-performance servo systems. In this paper, the mathematical model of the conventional LTID-SMO is deduced and analyzed. A new LTID-SMO is proposed by replacing the sign function with a saturation function and an additional feedback loop in the load torque observer. The effectiveness of the proposed observer is verified by various experiments. The results show that compared to conventional load torque observer, the proposed observer can identify the load torque with higher accuracy and faster response in different operational conditions. Transmissions across asynchronous communication channels are subject to delay injection attacks, which can cause an arbitrary number of skews. That is, such attacks can cause an arbitrary number of transmitted signals to arrive after the first signal of the next transmission has arrived. The (common) assumption that despite the delays, all signals from the $i$ th transmission arrive at the decoder before any signal from the (i+2){\text{nd}} transmission arrives is called a no switch assumption. This paper presents a self-synchronizing, zero-latency, zero-error coding scheme that requires no acknowledge and can decode transmissions distorted by an arbitrary number of skews that obey this no switch assumption. The rate associated with the coding scheme provides a lower bound of 0.6942 for the (zero-error) capacity of such a channel. It is further shown that zero-error channel capacity of the channel is upper bounded by 0.7248. Aimed at the problem that the auxiliary commutation circuit (ACC) of auxiliary resonant commutated pole (ARCP) inverters has a high loss in commutation processes, this paper presents a novel modulation strategy with shunt dead time based on a double ARCP (DARCP) inverter. In comparison with the original modulation strategy, this modulation strategy cannot only achieve soft switching for all switches, but also avoid the superposition of resonance current and load current at commutation moments in double ACCs (DACCs) and make the maximum current through DACCs approximately equal to load current in commutation processes. So, the circulating current loss in DACCs and the current stress of auxiliary switches can be effectively reduced. According to the equivalent circuits in different operation modes under the novel modulation strategy, this paper analyzes the operation principle, soft-switching implementation condition, and optimal parameter design procedure of the DARCP inverter. Finally, a 10-kW–16-kHz DARCP inverter prototype with insulated gate bipolar transistor-based switches is built. Model predictive control (MPC) has been widely advocated as a design strategy for many aspects of industrial electronics. The methodology has been strongly promoted by some researchers but has also attracted criticism from others. In this context, the purpose of this paper is twofold. First, we show that many existing and popular control strategies, including finite set MPC and linear controllers [proportional integral, proportional resonant (PR)], can be viewed as special cases of MPC. Second, we show that the predictive control framework allows one to embellish these classical control architectures with novel features and to design new and advanced control architectures to address various challenges posed by power electronics applications. The findings of the paper are supported by a practical example of designing of a novel form of PR controller with superior tracking performance and delay compensation, confirmed via simulation and experiments. We describe a state-of-the-art channel sounder to support channel-model development for mobile millimeter-wave (mm-wave) communications. The system can measure the complex amplitude, delay, and angle of arrival of the multipath components of indoor and outdoor channels. Specifically, a custom multiplexer (MUX) records the channel impulse response across a 16-element receive (RX) antenna array in 65.5~\mu \texts , while the channel is static. The delay resolution of the system is 1 ns and, because the elements are oriented in a 3-D space, both azimuth and elevation angles can be extracted. The robust link budget, comprising high-gain directional RX antennas, enables indoor link measurement beyond 150 m in line-of-sight and 20 m in non-line-of-sight conditions. The RX array is mounted on a location-aware robot, which is battery operated. Combined with the speed of the MUX, untethered acquisition of mobile-channel data is possible. To the best of our knowledge, this paper contributes the first sounder that is capable of mobile measurements at mm-wave frequencies. The hardware implementation of a functional 83.5-GHz system is described in this paper, and some illustrative results, including small-scale statistics and Doppler, are presented.
