La spinta liberista impressa dai cambiamenti degli anni ’90 ha coinvolto sotto diversi aspetti la società italiana, modificando anche lo sport e i modelli di gestione delle strutture sportive, sorti nelle città italiane per ospitare le partite della World Cup. Il capitolo considera i Mondiali “ITALIA’90” una sorta di spartiacque anche per i processi politici che prepararono e gestirono l’evento, e che definirono le caratteristiche degli stadi. Dai rivolgimenti istituzionali successivi – in particolare “Tangentopoli” – derivarono cambiamenti importanti nella gestione delle strutture sportive in Italia e delle politiche per lo sviluppo delle città. Il capitolo individua il modello emergente di stadio che si affermò a partire dalla fine degli anni ’90 e offre un bilancio critico delle trasformazioni avvenute negli ultimi due decenni e del passaggio al nuovo modello di politica urbana.

The presence of great, collective actors endowed with the capacity for cultural aggregation, action, and elaboration gave substance to the ideologies and grand narratives that characterized early modernity, the political categories born out of the French Revolution, and the social fractures upon which hinged the political dialectics between the 19th and 20th centuries. The great theoretical-political schools that developed the concepts of social and emancipation criticism in the 19th and 20th centuries are inseparable from the history of the workers' movement, its social representation, and its political organization. Contemporary movements focus on either specificity or generality. The Anti-Globalization and Pacifist movements at the start of the 21st century have been defined as ethical movements that advance universalizing demands based on the criteria of justice without demanding anything specific to the protestors involved.

Background: The gastrointestinal tissue plays an important role in the pathogenesis of HIV/SIV infection and serves as a viral reservoir in infected individuals under antiretroviral therapy (ART). However, the effect of ART administration in the very early stage of infection on HIV/SIV replication and pathogenesis in gastrointestinal tissue has not been fully studied. In this current study, rhesus monkeys infected with SIV were treated with ART starting at day 7 post-infection. The effect of early ART on SIV replication and infection-related pathogenic changes in mucosal tissues of the infected monkeys was examined. Methods. Nuclear acids were extracted from snap frozen ileum and colon tissues and mesentery lymph nodes from SIV infected monkeys with or without ART. SIV RNA and DNA loads as well as levels of CD3, CD4 and cytokine mRNA were measured by PCR and RT PCR from the isolated nuclear acids. Tissue sections were stained by immuno-fluorescence labeled antibodies for CD3 and CD4. Results: Without ART treatment, these monkeys underwent a mild SIV infection with low viral loads and slightly decreased CD4§ssup§+§esup§ T cell counts in peripheral blood. In ART treated monkeys, SIV RNA loads were undetectable in blood with normal CD4§ssup§+§esup§ T cell counts, however, SIV RNA and DNA were detected in the intestinal tissues and mesentery lymph nodes although the levels were lower than those in untreated monkeys. The levels of CD3 and CD4 positive cells in the tissues were similar between the infected untreated monkeys and infected ART treated monkeys based on RT-PCR and immune-fluorescence staining of the tissue sections. Furthermore, compatible levels of IL-6, TNF-a, IL-1b and MyD88 mRNAs were detected in most of intestinal tissues and mesentery lymph nodes of infected ART treated and infected untreated monkeys. The essay discusses the fecundity of the theoretical core of Gramsci Prison Notebooks in front of the developments of «democratic» dialectic. A parallel is drawn between the categories adopted by Gramsci in order to define collective action, on the one hand, and the contemporary forms of political mobilization, on the other hand. The latter appear to be characterized by a lack of universalistic references, and focused on the pragmatism of immediate action, in the field of an overall cut between social and political action. Furthermore, it is pointed out a return in the contemporary scenery of the political problems faced in the Notebooks: the crisis of political parties, the transformism, the crisis of the authority of the institution, a spreading apoliticism. These fenomena are read through the Gramscian discussion of the phases of transition, characterized by the crisis of the symbolical forms and by a regressive process affecting modern politics.
