Rejection consists of a range of behaviors from ignoring another to explicitly excluding someone from an encounter. Currently available experimental tasks have shown that rejection has strong emotional, behavioral, and physical effects, but the tasks have some limitations. We argue that video games can address these limitations and have developed a new experimental task (ScrollQuest) to show the potential of video games as rejection research tools. The primary goal of the present study was to explore the effects of ScrollQuest. We analyzed data from 116 young adults who played both ScrollQuest and the rejection experimental task Cyberball. Playing ScrollQuest had more negative effects on mood, more negative interpretation effects were observed after playing ScrollQuest, and ScrollQuest was perceived as more enjoyable, compared to Cyberball. Our findings suggest that ScrollQuest might be an effective new experimental task to study rejection in a digital environment, but more work is needed to improve ScrollQuest.

Disease activity was assessed using the European League Against Rheumatism Sjögren’s Syndrome Disease Activity Index. We examined these data using independent samples t-tests, Mann–Whitney U test, chi squared analysis, and linear regression.Results: The result for each domain in Short Form 36 health survey was lower in pSS patients than in healthy controls, especially the score in the dimension of role physical function. In the bivariate analysis, age, pain, fatigue, disease activity, disease complication, anxiety/depression, oral disorders, and impaired swallowing correlated with QoL. Also, in the linear regression model, pain, fatigue, disease activity, impaired swallowing, and anxiety/depression remained the main predictors of QoL.Conclusion: pSS patients had a considerably impaired QoL compared to the controls, and pSS could negatively affect the QoL of patients. Measuring QoL should be considered as a vital part of the comprehensive evaluation of the health status of pS

C-reactive protein was also used to measure disease activity in RA patients. The aim was to explore the impact of medication adherence on disease activity in patients with RA.Methods: A systematic search was performed in major electronic databases (PubMed, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, CNKI, VIP and Wan fang) to identify studies reporting medication adherence and disease activity in RA patients. Results were expressed as mean difference (MD) and 95% CI.Results: A total of seven identified studies matched the inclusion criteria, reporting on a total of 1,963 adult RA patients in the analysis. The total score of DAS-28 was significantly lower in adherent patients than in nonadherent subjects (MD =-0.42, 95% CI [-0.80, -0.03], P=0.03). Similarly, a significant difference was observed between medication adherent and nonadherent groups in erythrocyte sedimentation rate (MD =-7.39, 95% CI [-11.69, -3.08], P<0.01) and tender joint count (MD =-1.29, 95% CI [-2.51, -0.06], P=0.04). Interestingly, the results of the meta-analysis showed no significant difference between medication adherent and nonadherent patients in swollen joint count (MD =-0.16, 95% CI [-2.13, 1.80], P=0.87), visual analog scale (MD =1.41, 95% CI [-3.68, 6.50], P=0.59) and C-reactive protein

Rapid development on Australia and China‘s coasts has exacerbated coastal ecosystem degradation and environmental deterioration, which has placed pressure on their coastal zone management. Integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) has been adopted as a promising mechanism to achieve sustainable coastal development. Both Australia and China have an ongoing capability to share their management experience and research outcomes on ICZM. As their research enthusiasm and investments on coasts bear fruit, there is much to learn from each other. This research aimed to explain the contemporary legal and regulatory frameworks for ICZM in Australia and China, to evaluate the effectiveness of the frameworks from coastal stakeholders‘ perspectives and to put forward potential recommendations to improve the frameworks for ICZM. In order to fulfil these research objectives, this research used semi-structured interviews, questionnaire surveys, case inspections, contemporary legal and regulatory documents, academic and government publications and other data collected from fieldwork to achieve research "triangulation". This research analysed valid and verified views of 52 stakeholders from governments, academia, business, non-governmental organisations and the public. Their professional and personal experience in coastal zone management formed the legal and regulatoryframework for ICZM, including legislation and regulations, government administration, judicial performance and public participation. Fieldwork conducted in Australia and China with focus on two intensive coastal developments, the Rose Bay Marina in Sydney, Australia, and the Celebration City Marina in Qingdao, China, provided in-depth understanding into how and why stakeholders evaluated the effectiveness of the legal and regulatory frameworks for ICZM.The comparison between Australia and China facilitated this research to gain a broader insight, a greater awareness and a deeper understanding of coastal management issues
