Background: With the implementation of the 11th edition of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) and the publication of the metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) nomenclature in 2020, it is important to establish consensus for the coding of MAFLD in ICD-11. This will inform subsequent revisions of ICD-11. Methods: Using the Qualtrics XM and WJX platforms, questionnaires were sent online to MAFLD-ICD-11 coding collaborators, authors of papers, and relevant association members. Results: A total of 890 international experts in various fields from 61 countries responded to the survey. We also achieved full coverage of provincial-level administrative regions in China. 77.1% of respondents agreed that MAFLD should be represented in ICD-11 by updating NAFLD, with no significant regional differences (77.3% in Asia and 76.6% in non-Asia, p = 0.819). Over 80% of respondents agreed or somewhat agreed with the need to assign specific codes for progressive stages of MAFLD (i.e. steatohepatitis) (92.2%), MAFLD combined with comorbidities (84.1%), or MAFLD subtypes (i.e., lean, overweight/obese, and diabetic) (86.1%). Conclusions: This global survey by a collaborative panel of clinical, coding, health management and policy experts, indicates agreement that MAFLD should be coded in ICD-11. The data serves as a foundation for corresponding adjustments in the ICD-11 revision.

Several aspects affect the beauty of this area, including sagging, cellulite, contour irregularity, and volume reduction. This makes treatment of the area more challenging. Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), which may be injected into the buttocks, stimulates local neocollagenesis, provides volume replacement, increases the strength and elasticity of the dermis, and thickens the underlying superficial fascia. However, no protocol for buttocks beautification tailors the dilution and deep application of CaHA filler simultaneously according to clinical assessments and personal priorities regarding contour, sagging, and cellulite.Purpose: To report the results of a minimally invasive protocol using different dilutions of CaHA (Buttocks Beautification 3D) in the buttocks with application in different planes. Nevertheless, there has been no real-life therapeutic series with botulinum toxin for aesthetic treatment of the face in which the subjects were systematically followed to assess its long-term benefit.Purpose: To assess the performance and length of the treatment of glabellar and forehead lines with IncobotulinumtoxinA in a real-life setting.Patients and Methods: We enrolled 20 adults with indications for the treatment of upper facial dynamic lines (glabella and forehead) with botulinum toxin. We tested whether oxidized linoleic acid metabolites (OXLAM) are associated with pediatric metabolic syndrome (MetS) and a proatherogenic lipoprotein profile in 122 obese adolescents. Furthermore, we examined whether genetic and metagenomic factors can modulate plasma OXLAM concentrations by genotyping the fatty acid desaturase 1/2 (FADS) gene and by characterizing the gut microbiota. Subjects with MetS (n = 50) showed higher concentrations of 9- and 13-oxo-octadecadienoic acid (9- and 13-oxo-ODE) than subjects without MetS (n = 72). Both metabolites were associated with an adverse lipoprotein profile that was characterized by elevated very small-dense low-density lipoprotein (p < 0.005) and large very low-density lipoprotein particles (p = 0.01). Plasma 9- and 13-oxo-ODE were higher in subjects carrying the haplotype AA of the FADS gene cluster (p = 0.030 and p = 0.048, respectively). Furthermore, the reduced gut bacterial load was associated with higher 9-oxo-ODE concentrations (p = 0.035). This is the first study showing that high plasma OXLAM concentrations are associated with MetS and suggesting that the leading factors for high plasma concentrations of OXLAM might be the genetic background and the composition of the gut microbiota. In conclusion, high concentrations of 9- and 13-oxo-ODE, which may be the result of a genetic predisposition and a reduced gut bacterial load, are associated with MetS and with a proatherogenic lipoprotein profile in obese adolescents.

To date, the “multiple-hit” hypothesis is largely recognized as an explanation of NAFLD pathogenesis and progression. Obesity and features of the metabolic syndrome have been closely linked to NAFLD development. Due to the increased prevalence of obesity worldwide, NAFLD has reached epidemic proportions over time. Given its unfavorable cardiometabolic burden (such as cardiovascular and metabolic consequences), it represents a worrying phenomenon needing a more comprehensive and successful management. Laboratory tests and classical imaging techniques play a pivotal role in NAFLD diagnosis, but novel noninvasive alternative methods to diagnose and monitor NAFLD have been investigated. Currently, lifestyle modifications remain the mainstay treatment, although its efficacy is poor because of the lack of compliance. Pediatric research is focusing on multiple alternative treatments targeting the main pathogenic factors such as insulin-resistance, dyslipidemia, gut-liver axis and microbiota, oxidative stress, and proinflammatory pathways. Results from these studies are promising but larger validation is needed. Innovative therapeutic approaches might add an important piece in the complex knowledge of pediatric NAFLD. The digital photography represents not only an immediate medium for data communication, but also an effective instrument for surveying and monitoring the architectural buildings. In this context, 2D images allow to acquire multi-scale geometrical and material data in a few time. This peculiarity makes this technique very suitable for the survey of cracks distribution in emergency condition, for example immediately after an earthquake. Referring to this specific application, the article suggests a process of 2D images acquisition, data management and representation for surveying crack distribution inside an historical building in Ferrara, Palazzo Renata di Francia, seriously damaged by the seismic events happened in May 2012.
