We study the functional equation y(x) = xA(y(x)) satisfied by the generating functions in the schema of simple varieties of trees. The radii of convergence r, R of y, A respectively satisfy y(r) <= R. In the subcritical case (y(r) < R), y_n behaves asymptotically as C·r^(-n)·n^(-3/2). In the critical case (y(r)=R), we approach the problem of determining the asymptotics of a_n when the information of y(x) is well known. To that end, we give sufficient conditions that ensure that A(z) can be extended to a delta domain around its dominant singularity R, which is needed to be able to apply the transfer theorem when determining the asymptotics. We do a similar analysis for the equation y(x) = x+ B(y(x)), which appears in the additive schema of simple varieties of trees. The general framework we propose includes the three examples of extension to a delta domain of the functions A(z) and B(z) encountered in the literature so far.

La pequeña ciudad navarra de Corella, alberga en sus calles más de una veintena de edificios barrocos incluyendo palacios, parroquias y conventos. La arquitectura que inunda sus calles da testimonio del que un día fue uno de los núcleos urbanos más pujantes dentro del territorio navarro, donde un gran número de nobles y comerciantes catapultaron su desarrollo durante los siglos XVII y XVIII. Se ubica al sur de Navarra, en la Merindad de Tudela, a orillas del río Ebro y donde históricamente se ha producido un estrecho contacto con los antiguos reinos de Castilla y Aragón. La situación geográfica, social y climática lejos del ámbito de influencia de la capital, Pamplona, propició un desarrollo artístico en paralelo de la Merindad de Tudela, hecho que se acentuó en Corella debido a la concentración de riqueza y poder de sus pobladores. Corella es hogar de peculiares fachadas de entre tres y cuatro alturas coronadas en ocasiones por áticos o galerías, que cuentan con un dinámico juego de luces y sombras gracias a sus relieves en ladrillo. Estos edificios albergan impresionantes escudos, que junto con una rejería muy trabajada y marcadas portadas de piedra dan lugar a suntuosas residencias. Todas estas características convierten el paseo por la ciudad en un teatro barroco al aire libre, cuyas fachadas de una curiosa identidad se encuentran hoy en día en peligro de desaparecer.

Three-dimensional (3D) motion capture systems have been used to identify athletes in high risk of injury, but due to their cost, lack of portability and qualified technicians, an alternative is needed, such as two-dimensional (2D) systems. The purpose of this study was to examine the criterion-related validity of three measures of frontal plane knee alignment (Frontal plane projection angle [FPPA], knee-to-ankle separation ratio [KASR] and knee medial displacement [KMD]) and two sagittal plane measures (hip and knee flexion ranges of motion [ROMs]), recorded simultaneously using a 2D video analysis procedure and a 3D motion analysis system. Twenty-nine male futsal players had frontal and sagittal plane kinematics assessed while performing bilateral drop vertical jumps (DVJ). The criterion-related validity of the frontal and sagittal plane kinematic measures obtained using the 2D video analysis procedure and 3D motion system was determined through the estimation equation, typical error of the estimate (TEEST) and validity correlation (r). Kappa correlations were also calculated to determine the agreement between the 2D and 3D kinematic approaches. The results showed poor validity for the FPPA measure (standardized TEEST = 1.34 [large], r = 0.60) and moderate validity for KASR (standardized TEEST = 0.88 [moderate], r = 0.77), KMD (standardized TEEST = 0.53 [small], r = 0.88), hip flexion ROM (standardized TEEST = 0.62 [moderate], r = 0.85) and knee flexion ROM (standardized TEEST = 0.56 [small], r = 0.87) measures. However, only the KMD and knee flexion ROM measures showed high levels of agreement (kappa > 0.7). Therefore, the KMD and knee flexion ROM measures calculated during a bilateral DVJ and using a 2D video analysis procedure might be considered as valid and feasible alternatives to their respective 3D criterion to quantify knee kinematics and to detect futsal players who demonstrated aberrant movement patterns in the frontal and sagittal planes, respectively.

Desde que en febrero de 2004 se celebrara en Paris la reunión de expertos internacionales en conservación y promoción del patrimonio geológico en la que se creó la Red Global de Geoparques, han sido muchos los espacios naturales que se han acogido a esta figura. No obstante, todavía no ha habido un país, territorio o región en el mundo que haya promovido un entorno subterráneo (red de cavidades o conjuntos de cavernas) como Geoparque, aun recogiendo todos las características que define la UNESCO en la Carta de Principios de la Red de Geoparques Europeos: (1) espacios que incluye un patrimonio geológico particular; (2) permiten una estrategia de desarrollo territorial sostenible, (3) promueven el desarrollo regional o local y (4) tienen límites bien definidos y extensión para un importante desarrollo económico. Además, son lugares geológicos de importancia en términos de su valor científico, rareza, valor estético o educativo y también pueden tener un interés arqueológico, ecológico, histórico, cultural o gastronómico. En este trabajo se pretende abrir una reflexión sobre el activo que pueden suponer las cavidades en la Red de Geoparques y desarrollar propuestas con ejemplos que pueden acogerse a esta figura, dotando a UNESCO de un nuevo sistema natural en la Red Global. = In February 2004 the establishment of the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) was created by the committee of international experts on geological heritage at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. El objetivo del presente estudio fue estudiar la presencia y distribución de contaminantes emergentes, tanto en aguas superficiales como en aguas subterráneas de acuíferos de cuatro cuencas del Sur de la Península Ibérica (Cuenca del río Guadalhorce (Málaga), Cuenca de la Laguna de Fuente de Piedra (Málaga), Cuenca del río Guadiaro (Málaga-Cádiz) y el acuífero detrítico de la Vega de Granada (Granada)). Para ello se seleccionaron casi 110 puntos de muestreo (77 subterráneas y 32 superficiales) distribuidas en cuatro cuencas que componen la zona de estudio. Los resultados revelan la presencia de contaminantes emergentes en todas las muestras analizadas. En las aguas superficiales se detectaron 33 contaminantes emergentes diferentes, principalmente fármacos, mientras que en las aguas subterráneas se hallaron 37 contaminantes emergentes diferentes, mayoritariamente plaguicidas.

In many of the alpine watersheds of Sierra Nevada (Southern Spain) exists an ancient network of dug canals that collect, transport and facilitate the recharge the snowmelt in the underlying aquifer during the spring season. This practice, known as careos, in the lower part of the watersheds supply drinking water as spring discharge during the dry season. To study how this managed recharge technique modifies the natural response of these basins this work focuses on characterizing the hydrological behavior of one of the sites, the Berchules watershed. The mechanisms for mineralization of groundwater are based on geochemical processes such as evapo-concentration in the soil layer and silicate mineral weathering due to dissolved CO2 originated from both soil biogenic processes and the atmosphere. Groundwater presents a main hydrogeochemical calcium‑magnesium-bicarbonate type facies, which is associated to groundwater flowing through the upper weathered silicates and quickly drained through springs located in the uplands and in the intermediate altitude catchment zone. Additionally, in the lower part of the basin some springs discharge mineralized groundwater with a sodium–calcium–bicarbonate composition associated to regional groundwater flow. In natural conditions, this hydrogeological system behaves as a sloping aquifer, occurring recharge between 1400 and 2500 m a.s.l. The springs discharge groundwater with an isotopic content and temperature in coherence with the local rainfall isotopic and thermal atmospheric altitudinal lines. Nevertheless, once the careo recharge begins the affected springs reveal the fingerprint of the concentrated recharge system by blurring the fingerprint of both the isotopic and thermal altitudinal dependence in the springs discharge. This validates the previous conceptual model and supports average recharge values of 141 ± 140 mm/yr and total average water resources of 181 ± 111 mm/yr which include a 40% increase in the study period due to

En el presente trabajo se estima el tiempo de tránsito del agua subterránea que descarga por los manantiales principales del Macizo del Port del Comte. Para ello se utilizan dos métodos diferentes: (1) la aproximación clásica que estudia cómo se amortigua en el agua de descarga la amplitud de la variación estacional del contenido isotópico de la recarga, y (2) la modelación numérica de los procesos de flujo y transporte con modelos agregados. El método clásico sobreestima los tiempos de tránsito con un factor de proporcionalidad de 1,9. Los tiempos de tránsito estimados mediante modelación numérica varían entre 1,7 y 2,9 años.

Some researchers have proposed the groundwater protection zone (GPZ) method as a methodological framework for defining safeguard zones of groundwater bodies. Its goal is to protect the quality of water intended for human consumption and to facilitate a common implementation of this method in all European Union member states. One of the criteria used to establish GPZs is to define contributing catchment areas (CCAs). This methodology has been applied to the Sierra de Cañete, a region comprising a carbonate aquifer in the province of Malaga, Spain. The tools used to define CCAs are hydro-chemical and isotopic characterizations, namely water isotopes (i.e., 2H, 18O and tritium) and the isotopes of dissolved sulfates (i.e., 34S and 18O). Traditionally, the Sierra de Cañete aquifer has been divided into six sectors. Hydro-chemical and isotopic characterization differentiated between two large areas in the carbonate aquifer. The southern part presents younger water that is the result of faster recharge and that shows a high level of karstification, while the northern area has a slower flow, and recharge is produced over several years. In addition, the northern part is hydraulically connected to an alluvial aquifer (i.e., Llanos de Almargen) that borders the Sierra de Cañete to the north. This aquifer has high levels of pollution due to agricultural and livestock activities carried out in the Llanos de Almargen area. This pollution is transmitted to the carbonate aquifer when groundwater depletion occurs. Therefore, the Sierra de Cañete GPZ needs to be extended to include the Llanos de Almargen aquifer.

The final publication is available at Springer via http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s12665-015-4956-8, A screening survey of 81 pharmaceuticals was carried out at a wastewater facility and in a detrital aquifer (Barcelona, Spain), where treated wastewater (TWW) was injected through wells to build up a hydraulic barrier against seawater intrusion. The monitored data correspond to the 2007–2010 period. The TWW was tertiary treated with additional treatment consisting of ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis and UV disinfection. During the monitoring period groundwater monitoring was carried out in wells located within a 1-km radius distance from the injection wells. During monitoring period 20 new pharmaceuticals were detected in the aquifer media and 11 compounds were found with concentration above 0.1 µg l-1 (selected threshold) in both TWW and wells. After 1 year of TWW injection change of redox conditions, a decrease of Cl- concentration and presence of 11 pharmaceuticals (4-AAA, 4-FAA, carbamazepine, ciprofloxacin, diazepam, diclofenac, hydrochlorothiazide, mepivacaine, sulfamethoxazole, sulfamethazine and sulfapyridine) was observed in the monitoring wells. After the studied period the sodium-chloride aquifer water type evolved to a bicarbonate-sulphate facies. Decrease of the pharmaceuticals concentration in groundwater appears to be driven by the dilution process and hydraulic characteristics of the aquifer media, with the attenuation or degradation process much less important., Peer Reviewed, Postprint (author's final draft)

During 2015 more than 70 springs related to the peridotite outcrops of the Ronda mountainous massif, South Spain, have been identified. The field work included “in situ” measurements of physical-chemical parameters (T, EC, pH), and water sampling for major components and stable isotopes of water and DIC. The hydrogeochemical study allowed us to characterize different flow systems: (1) springs with very low to medium electrical conductivities (200-700 µS/cm) and pH below 9.0, and (2) springs with EC above 700 µS/cm and pH above 9.0. The first group of springs are supposed to be linked with surface and subsurface flows. The hydrogeochemical reactions that determine their composition are characterized by the low solubility of minerals, atmospheric CO2 (open system) and active serpentinization reactions that supplies hundreds of ppm of Mg2+. All of them are waters of HCO3-Mg or HCO3-Mg-Na type. The second group of springs drains water with EC above 700 µS/cm and pH over 9. In general, these springs are associated to deep flows connected to regional faults or major tectonic features. Deeper flow enhances water-rock interaction and time of contact, so this system evolves towards a closed system to O2 and CO2. All these waters are old or older than the first group and show reducing features and are of Na-Cl or OH-Ca type

Actualmente existe un creciente interés por los contaminantes emergentes, en especial por los productos farmacéuticos y de cuidado personal (PPCPs). Son contaminantes que han pasado inadvertidos a lo largo de los años debido a sus bajas concentraciones pero que presentan efectos perjudiciales para la salud y el medio ambiente. Estos compuestos, en su mayoría no regulados en la legislación, han sido hallados en aguas superficiales, subterráneas, sedimentos e incluso en aguas de abastecimiento. In this paper, we study the impact of selection methods in the context of on-line on-board distributed evolutionary algorithms. We propose a variant of the mEDEA algorithm in which we add a selection operator, and we apply it in a taskdriven scenario. We evaluate four selection methods that induce different intensity of selection pressure in a multi-robot navigation with obstacle avoidance task and a collective foraging task. Experiments show that a small intensity of selection pressure is sufficient to rapidly obtain good performances on the tasks at hand. We introduce different measures to compare the selection methods, and show that the higher the selection pressure, the better the performances obtained, especially for the more challenging food foraging task.

En el proyecto que me fue asignado, análisis económico de las fusiones de empresas, el objetivo fundamental ha sido el estudio de las fusiones o concentraciones horizontales. Se ha realizado un estudio de la definición del mercado relevante, un modelo simple de oligopolio de Cournot y las posibles ganancias de eficiencia derivadas de las fusiones o concentraciones horizontales. Además, se ha estudiado la política de competencia de la UE así como la Autoridad encargada de la regulación de las fusiones o concentraciones. Y por último, el caso práctico de Antena3 y LaSexta en el que se aprecian los efectos económicos generados por la fusión y los efectos surgidos por la Ley 7/2010.

Our methodology can also be applied to different economic settings: health economics, monopoly regulation, labour contracts, limited liabilities and environmental regulation.

The objective of this study was to analyze trunk and shoulder muscle activation and lumbar spine kinematics of backward and forward phases during both isolated medicine-ball side throws, and medicine-ball side catch and throw sequences. Thirteen recreationally trained men performed three isolated medicine-ball side throws with 1 min rest between repetitions, and three medicine-ball side catch and throw sequences. Surface electromyography signals were collected bilaterally in seven trunk muscles and in the right side for anterior deltoid and pectoralis major. Spine kinematics were measured using an electromagnetic tracking instrument. The results showed that left external oblique and right anterior deltoid activations reached peak levels above 100% MVC during the forward phase highlighting their important role during side medicine-ball throwing. When both exercises were compared, the amplitude of the lumbar motion and the muscle activation in the backward phase were higher during the medicine-ball side catch and throw than in the medicine-ball side throw. According to these results, the medicine-ball side catch and throw is a high demanding plyometric exercise, which seems more appropriate for high performance throwing and striking athletes than for recreationally trained individuals. Suggestions to reduce back injury risk were provided.

Estas notas sobre competencia imperfecta están dedicadas al estudio de estructuras de mercado caracterizadas por la existencia de poder de mercado. Se estudia en primer lugar el monopolio, dedicando una atención especial a los diferentes tipos de discriminación de precios.
