Forty mungbean genotypes were evaluated for fourteen quantitative traits, planted in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. Mahalanobis' generalised distance D2 was used to assess the character data and Principal Component Analysis for estimating genetic diversity and identification of superior mungbean genotypes. Following Tocher's technique, the 40 genotypes were divided into 7 clusters in accordance with their genetic distance. Among them four clusters were polygenotypic and three were monogenotypic. The genotypes of cluster IV and VII showed highest (40.51) inter cluster distance followed by cluster III and VII (39.04). Cluster V has been discovered to have the largest intra-cluster distance. In order to increase the genetic diversity of Vigna radiata, genotypes from these clusters may be crossed. Based on Principal Component Analysis results, 5 PCs explained 75.87% of the variation among the 14 parameters and had eigen values greater than unit. Only six genotypes—TJM-37, TJM-134, TJM-140, TJM-235, Shikha, and PM-1632—contained with favourable yield and quality associated PCs, and had outstanding remark for yield traits—out of all genotypes contributing their existence in more than one PC with high PC score. These lines may be used in hybridization programmes to transmit desirable features, such as high yield and high quality, to recipient mungbean genotypes, resulting in the creation of promising cultivars.

Regular inventorization and monitoring of biodiversity is paramount for its conservation and sustainable utilization. Gaya district of the Bihar is endowed with rich biodiversity. For proper understanding of plant diversity, quantitative status of the vegetation is essentially required. The aim of the study was to assess different forest sites of the Gaya district of Bihar in India for their plant diversity. Study was carried out in these randomly selected eleven forest sites (Site I to Site XI). A total of 174 species belonging to 150 genera and58 families(48 Dicotyledons, 7 monocotyledons and 3 pteridophytes) were reported from all eleven study sites. Five largest families in the area were Poaceae (22 spp.), Fabaceae (14 spp.), Asteraceae (11 spp.), Rubiaceae (9 spp.) and Acanthaceae (7 spp). Different diversity attributes such as Important Value Index (IVI ), Species richness, Shannon Wiener index, Concentration of dominance and Evenness for tree, shrub and herb layers were estimated. For different sites highest IVI values for tree, shrubby and herbaceous layers were reported.Shannon wiener Index values for tree, shrubby and herbaceous layer of Nagobar site were estimated3.376, 1.986 and 2.350 respectively. Tree diversity was highest at Nagobar site whereas shrub and herb diversity was also reasonably better than most of the sites. Hence, it was revealed from the study that Nagobar site was most diverse site in the Gaya district. Study will be immense use for officials of forest department, researcher, students etc. for carrying out conservation and management work. Similar kind of study should be carried out in different forest sites of the country to get capture the status of the plant diversity for conservation and sustainable utilization.

In present study, an attempt has been made to evaluate the effect of natural gums on the release profile of drug from matrix system for once daily sustained release tablets formulations. Aceclofenac NSAIDs was used as a model drug to evaluate it release characteristics from different matrices. Matrix tablets of Aceclofenac were prepared by direct compression process using natural gums (xanthan gum and karaya gum) in different ratios drug: gum ratios of FX, FK and FXK (FX and FK in 1:1 ratios). The tablets were evaluated for physical characteristic like hardness, weight variation, friability, swelling index and drug content, in-vitro release of drug was performed in Phosphate buffer pH 7.4 for 24 hours. All the physical characteristic of fabricated tablet was within acceptable limits. The release of Aceclofenac from a gelatinous swollen mass, which controls the diffusion of drug molecules through the polymeric materials in to aqueous medium. The FXK matrices show prices controlled release than FX and FK matrices because of burst effect and fast release in case of FX and FK matrices respectively and there was no chemical interaction between drug and polymers in FXK formulation as confirmed by FTIR studies. The release mechanism was explained with zero order, first order, higuchi and korsmeyer equations via swelling and non fickian diffusion mechanism. The FXK matrices leads to more prices result than FX and FK alone by utilisation of synergistic interaction between two biopolymers and uniformity in the hydration layer in dissolution media.
