This paper aims to contribute to the debate on People with Disabilities and their interface with the professional activities of social workers in this segment today. The methodology used is linked to the critical-dialectical perspective based on a bibliographical and documentary research on the subject through the systematization of the main aspects of this debate to deepen the reflections and actions in the field of Social Work. Thus, it is presented here the journey of People with Disabilities in Brazil, the biomedical and social models on disability, the typification of disabilities that underlie professional actions, the legislation on the rights of these people and their relationship with public policies. In conclusion, this debate is urgent to consolide a more inclusive and democratic society., Este artigo objetiva contribuir com o debate sobre as Pessoas com Deficiência e sua interface com a ação profissional de assistentes sociais junto a esse segmento na atualidade. A metodologia utilizada se vincula à perspectiva crítico-dialética a partir de uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental acerca do tema mediante a sistematização dos principais aspectos desse debate para adensar as reflexões e ações no campo do Serviço Social. Assim, são tratados o percurso das Pessoas com Deficiência no Brasil, os modelos biomédico e social sobre a deficiência, a tipificação das deficiências que embasam as ações profissionais, a legislação sobre os direitos dessas pessoas e sua relação com as políticas públicas. Conclui-se que este debate é premente na concretização de uma sociedade mais inclusiva e democrática.

Purpose: Awareness of human rights are significant in the safety of the citizen of a country. While the government has set up detailed rights for people with disabilities, due to the lack of awareness many people with disabilities in Pakistan are not able to access educational, vocational or employment facilities. The purpose of this study was to evaluate people with disabilities’ awareness of their rights as citizens of Pakistan. Methodology: The study was quantitative in nature. To collect and evaluate data, the researcher designed a questionnaire of twenty-four statements. The variance was calculated to evaluate awareness based on the age, gender, employment status and disability of the participants. Findings: Major findings of the study revealed that participants of age twenty-seven and above and who were employed, were aware of most of the mentioned rights, while participants who were below age twenty-seven or students, were unaware or partially aware of most of the mentioned rights. Implications: Seminars and webinars should be conducted to the awareness of the rights of people with different abilities in educational institutions for people with disabilities, for parents of children with disabilities as well as for the common public so, that people with different abilities feel included and safe in society.

This study aims to analyze the implementation of state responsibilities in fulfilling the rights of persons with disabilities in the field of employment in Indonesia and the supporting and inhibiting factors of the state in fulfilling the rights of persons with disabilities in the field of employment. The method used in this research is normative legal research, with legal studies using legal systematics, research that will synchronize regulations, and make comparisons with applicable laws and use legal history. The study results found that the state fulfills the rights of persons with disabilities in the field of employment by providing protection and fulfillment of the rights of persons with disabilities. Supporting factors for social movements in voicing the fulfillment of the rights of persons with disabilities, which are accommodated by the Indonesian Association of Persons with Disabilities, are supporting factors for the fulfillment of facilities for persons with disabilities in public spaces. The inhibiting factor is that the fulfillment of the rights of people with other disabilities is still lacking; it is proven that facilities for people with disabilities often make the facilities that have been built at several points ineffective and ineffective. The concept of state responsibility in fulfilling the rights of persons with disabilities in the field of employment in Indonesia to obtain work and a decent living for humanity is a constitutional right guaranteed in the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.

In April 2016, legislation was enacted to ban unjust discrimination against people with disabilities, with the aim of creating a society where all citizens, regardless of disabilities, will be able to coexist without prejudice while respecting each other’s personalities and individuality. This legislation has resulted in demands for specific measures to be taken to prohibit unfair discriminatory treatment and the non-provision of “reasonable ac-commodation” for such individuals. Enacted by the various Boards of Education, the special selection examination for candidates with disabili-ties applying for teaching positions only processes an extremely small number of both applicants and new hires. It cannot be said that sufficient consideration has been given to establishing adequate candidacy qualifi-cations for such examinations or for the actual implementation of the examination. This study firstly compares the legislative situation regarding the rights of people with disabilities and the hiring trends of teachers with disabilities appointed by Boards of Education. Furthermore, the study traces changes in the legislative system, while pinpointing issues encountered by the various Boards of Education when hiring teaching staff with disabilities. In addition, with advancements being made in the rights of people with disabilities, the study also attempts to discuss methods that will address individual issues, to further promote the hiring of teaching staff with disabilities in the future.
