The Association for the Study of Reproductive Biology (ASEBIR) Interest Group in Embryology (in Spanish 'Grupo de Interés de Embriología') reviewed key morphokinetic parameters to assess the contribution of time-lapse technology (TLT) to the ASEBIR grading system. Embryo grading based on morphological characteristics is the most widely used method in human assisted reproduction laboratories. The introduction and implementation of TLT has provided a large amount of information that can be used as a complementary tool for morphological embryo evaluation and selection. As part of IVF treatments, embryologists grade embryos to decide which embryos to transfer or freeze. At the present, the embryo grading system developed by ASEBIR does not consider dynamic events observed through TLT. Laboratories that are using TLT consider those parameters as complementary data for embryo selection. The aim of this review was to evaluate review time-specific morphological changes during embryo development that are not included in the ASEBIR scoring system, and to consider them as candidates to add to the scoring system.

The arrival, occupation, and disappearance of Neanderthals in the Cantabrian region is the subject of a long-running debate that continues to this day. Knowledge of the evolution of Neanderthal societies since the end of the Middle Pleistocene in the north of the Iberian Peninsula is greatly impacted by the scarcity of a good chronological framework. This absence of good data creates difficulties in evaluating the cultural adaptations of these populations to environmental changes and their historical dynamics. The Amalda III cave, surveyed in 1983-84, contains a sequence of occupations ranging from the end of MIS5 (Levallois with Mousterian points and bifaces) to the beginning of MIS3 (Vasconian). It is possible to observe substantial changes in the environmental conditions and cultural responses of Neanderthal groups that inhabited the cave. Here we present the first results of the Amalda III sequence, which is currently being excavated by an interdisciplinary team. Our objective is to test, enrich and refine the regional environmental and Neanderthal cultural framework and the transformations that took place between the MIS5 and the MIS3. These new data are compared with the information available from several Middle Paleolithic sites in the region, advancing our understanding of the behavioural adaptations of Neanderthals to different ecological and socio-cultural situations between ca. 100 and 45 kyr BP in the Eastern Cantabrian region. Elegimos a Michael Jackson y su impacto en la cultura pop, ya que pensamos que sin él, diferentes ámbitos de la actualidad serían muy distintos, especialmente en la música, los videoclips y la moda. Nuestros objetivos eran: 1. Demostrar que Michael Jackson ha tenido un impacto significativo en la música, las técnicas vocales y de grabación, y que su influencia sigue vigente. 2. Mostrar cómo Michael Jackson revolucionó el mundo de los videoclips y los espectáculos, inspirándose en el cine y las técnicas cinematográficas. 3. Enseñar que Michael Jackson ha tenido un impacto directo en el mundo de la moda. 4. Evidenciar que el contenido de ficción y el contenido informativo en el formato de podcast son óptimos para informar de forma veraz y atractiva. Para realizar este trabajo, llevamos a cabo una investigación exhaustiva sobre técnicas vocales y de grabación, vimos mucho material de Michael y música actual para poder comparar, analizamos todos los videoclips, vimos documentales, estudiamos informes y noticias y leímos libros. Como conclusión, pudimos demostrar que Michael Jackson ha tenido un impacto directo en todos los ámbitos mencionados.

In statistics, samples are drawn from a population in a data-generating process (DGP). Standard errors measure the uncertainty in estimates of population parameters. In science, evidence is generated to test hypotheses in an evidence-generating process (EGP). We claim that EGP variation across researchers adds uncertainty—nonstandard errors (NSEs). We study NSEs by letting 164 teams test the same hypotheses on the same data. NSEs turn out to be sizable, but smaller for more reproducible or higher rated research. Adding peer-review stages reduces NSEs. We further find that this type of uncertainty is underestimated by participants.

Psychopathic traits in childhood have been revealed as potential identifiers of risk, being predictive of later forms of behavioral maladjustment. Yet, it is still under debate how psychopathic traits in children should be best conceptualized and which are the core dimensions for construct definition and prediction. The present study aims to examine the structure of psychopathic traits in childhood, and its predictive value, by using a combination of traditional factor analysis and more recent network-based methods. Data on psychopathic traits, as measured by the Child Problematic Traits Inventory (CPTI), were collected in a large sample of children (n = 2454; 48.2% girls), aged 3 to 6 at the onset of the study (Mage = 4.26; SD = 0.91), who were followed-up one and two years later using parent- and teacher-reports. Results showed that psychopathic traits measured via CPTI are best conceptualized as five latent factors encompassing grandiosity, deceitfulness, callousness, impulsivity and need of stimulation, a result that converged across informants and time. Callousness and grandiosity emerged as central traits using network analysis of parent-reports, while deceitfulness was most central using teacher-reports. Finally, callousness, impulsivity and deceitfulness emerged as the best predictors of concurrent, prospective and stable conduct problems. These results provide a refined structure of psychopathic traits in children that better accounts for the core elements of the construct. OBJECTIVE: To better describe and treat children with conduct problems (CP), grandiose-manipulative and daring-impulsive traits are proposed for subtyping CP, instead of using only a callous-unemotional specifier. However, the acclaimed benefits of having multiple specifiers for CP remain largely untested and therefore highly speculative. To fill this gap, this study tested longitudinal relations between these 3 specifiers and developmental outcomes in childhood and adolescence, independent of early childhood CP. METHOD: Longitudinal data from 2 community studies were used. Teacher ratings were used to measure CP and the specifiers in 3- to 5-year-olds from Sweden (n = 2,064) and Spain (n = 2,055). Developmental outcomes were assessed by multiple informants (ie, teachers, parents, and children) 1 to 8 years later. RESULTS: Early childhood CP were predictive of all outcomes. Callous-unemotional traits predicted low levels of social competence and prosocial behavior, independent of CP (and age, gender, and socioeconomic status). Grandiose-manipulative and daring-impulsive traits were predictive of aggression and violent delinquency, respectively, independent of CP, but also of higher levels of prosocial behavior or social competence. CONCLUSION: The 3 specifiers are predictive of different outcomes, independent of CP, which is thought to form the basis for developing specifiers for CP. Findings tentatively challenge the centrality of callous-unemotional traits for subtyping CP, but it is premature to conclude that grandiose-manipulative and daring-impulsive specifiers are needed in future revisions of DSM and ICD. Conduct problems (CP) in childhood and adolescence have a significant impact on the individual, family, and community. To improve treatment for CP, there is a need to improve the understanding of the developmental pathways leading to CP in boys and girls. Prior research has linked the child's fearlessness and callous-unemotional (CU) traits, as well as experiences of parental warmth and punitive parenting, to CP. However, few studies have tested the interplay of these factors in contributing to future CP development. The present study aimed to test the InterFear model, which suggests that fearlessness in early childhood leads to CP through an indirect pathway involving low positive parenting, high negative/punitive parenting, and callous-unemotional (CU) traits. The sample included 2467 Spanish children (48.1% girls; Mage = 4.25; SD = 0.91), followed up across a five-year period. Besides a direct association between fearlessness in early childhood and future CP, the results found an indirect pathway whereby fearlessness reduces positive parenting and increases punitive parenting, which contributes to the development of CU traits and sets the stage for CP in later childhood. The specific indirect effect from fearlessness to CP via CU traits accounted for most of the variance, suggesting the existence of a temperamental pathway independent of parental variables. Further, two additional indirect pathways, exclusive of fearlessness, were identified, which started with low parental warmth and positive parenting, leading to CP via CU traits. These findings support the InterFear model, demonstrating multiple pathways to CP with the involvement of fearlessness, parenting practices, and CU traits. Los riesgos psicosociales y, en particular el estrés laboral, se configuran en la actualidad como uno de los riesgos en aumento y más difíciles de abordar en materia de seguridad y salud en el trabajo. La gravedad de sus consecuencias tanto para la salud de las personas como para las organizaciones, sumado al hecho de que nunca se haya llevado a cabo, en la organización objeto de estudio, una evaluación de riesgos psicosociales, fundamentan el presente trabajo. Bajo esta premisa, se ha llevado a cabo una evaluación inicial de riesgos psicosociales a las formadoras y formadores de un centro docente dedicado a la formación profesional tomando como referencia el modelo de demanda-controlapoyo de Karasek. El método de evaluación psicosocial utilizado ha sido el elaborado por el Instituto Nacional de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo; FPSICO. Con una participación de un total de 18 trabajadores. Tras la aplicación del cuestionario se ha podido determinar que el factor de riesgo con mayor prevalencia entre las formadoras y formadoras del centro privado de formación evaluado es la carga de trabajo (CT), seguido de las demandas psicológicas (DP) y la participación/supervisión (PS). Los resultados apoyan el marco teórico del modelo demanda-controlapoyo, prediciendo una situación de sobrecarga, con las consecuencias asociadas a la misma. Por ello se elaboró una planificación simplificada de la actividad preventiva para reducir el grado de riesgo., Psychosocial risks and, in particular, work stress, are currently one of the increasing and most difficult risks to address in terms of health and safety at work. The seriousness of its consequences both for the health of people and for organizations, added to the fact that an evaluation of psychosocial risks has never been carried out in the organization under study, underlies this work. Under this premise, an initial evaluation of psychosocial risks has been carried out on the trainers of a teaching center dedicated to vocational training, taking Karasek's demand-control-support model as a reference. The psychosocial evaluation method used was that developed by the National Institute of Safety and Health at Work; FPSICO. With the participation of a total of 18 workers. After applying the questionnaire, it was determined that the risk factor with the highest prevalence among the trainers of the private training center evaluated is workload, psychological demands and participation/supervisión. The results support the theoretical framework of the demand-control-support model, predicting an overload situation, with the consequences associated with it. For this reason, a simplified planning of preventive activity was developed to reduce the degree of risk.

Renal transplantation is the treatment of choice for patients suffering from chronic renal disease, one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Among the biological barriers that may increase the risk of acute renal graft rejection is the presence of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) incompatibilities between donor and recipient. This work presents a comparative study of the influence of HLA incompatibilities on renal transplantation survival in the Andalusian (South of Spain) and United States (US) population. The main objective is to analyse the extent to which results about the influence of different factors on renal graft survival can be generalised to different populations. The Kaplan–Meier estimator and the Cox model have been used to identify and quantify the impact on the survival probability of HLA incompatibilities, both in isolation and in conjunction with other factors associated with the donor and recipient. According to the results obtained, HLA incompatibilities considered in isolation have negligible impact on renal survival in the Andalusian population and a moderate impact in the US population. Grouping by HLA score presents some similarities for both populations, while the sum of all HLA scores (aHLA) only has an impact on the US population. Finally, the graft survival probability of the two populations differs when aHLA is considered in conjunction with blood type. The results suggest that the disparities in the renal graft survival probability between the two populations under study are due not only to biological and transplantation-associated factors, but also to social–health factors and ethnic heterogeneity between populations.

Conduct problems (CP) constitute a major field for child clinical psychology, in terms of not only prevalence, but also developmental, social, and clinical relevance. This study carried out an umbrella review of meta-analyses on the efficacy of treatment/indicated prevention of child CP (mean age range up to 12 years). Following a registered protocol, several databases (i.e., Web of Science, PsycINFO, PROSPERO, and The Cochrane Library) were searched for meta-analyses published from January 2002 to March 2022. Nine meta-analytic publications met the required criteria, and the main characteristics and findings of the studies were systematically described. Weighted effect sizes (ESs) were calculated through RStudio program. Analyses of heterogeneity, publication bias, quality (AMSTAR-2), and credibility were also conducted. Results indicate that parent training has been the most studied intervention, with a weighted ES of d = -0.49 (95% CI -.67 to -.32). The reviewed studies identified several moderators for the efficacy of parent training, including individual (severity of CP), family (financial disadvantage), and intervention (delivery format) characteristics. Results from child-centered play therapy were also analyzed, d = -.34 (95% CI -.40 to -.28), but the reduced number of meta-analyses and the weakness detected by quality assessment suggest the need of cautiously considering the pooled effects. In general, evidence seems to be suggestive of the efficacy of treatment of CP, particularly for parent training. Nevertheless, efficacy seems to be moderate, heterogeneity indexes are high, and quality assessments of meta-analyses are often suboptimal. Este estudio presenta una revisión umbrella de meta-análisis sobre la eficacia del tratamiento/prevención indicada de los PC infantiles (rango de edad media hasta 12 años). Siguiendo un protocolo registrado, se buscaron meta-análisis (enero 2002 a marzo 2022) en Web of Science, PsycINFO, PROSPERO y The Cochrane Library. Nueve meta-análisis cumplieron con los criterios requeridos y sus características y hallazgos fueron descritos sistemáticamente; además, con RStudio se calcularon los tamaños del efecto (TEs) ponderados. Se realizaron análisis de heterogeneidad, sesgo de publicación, calidad (AMSTAR-2) y credibilidad. El entrenamiento parental fue la intervención más estudiada, con un TE medio ponderado de d = -.49 (IC del 95%: -.67 a -.32), y se identificaron diversos moderadores de eficacia, incluyendo características individuales (gravedad de los PC), familiares (desventaja económica) y de intervención (formato de administración). También se analizaron los resultados de la terapia de juego centrada en el niño, d = -.34 (IC del 95%: -.40 a -.28), pero el reducido número de meta-análisis y la debilidad detectada por la evaluación de la calidad sugieren la necesidad de considerar con cautela los efectos agrupados. En general, la evidencia es sugestiva de eficacia del tratamiento de los PC, específicamente del entrenamiento parental. No obstante, la eficacia parece ser moderada, los índices de heterogeneidad elevados y las evaluaciones de calidad de los meta-análisis no suelen ser óptimas. Este estudio sugiere varias vías para reforzar el conocimiento en este campo.

Renal transplantation is the treatment of choice for patients suffering from chronic renal disease, one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Among the biological barriers that may increase the risk of acute renal graft rejection is the presence of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) incompatibilities between donor and recipient. This work presents a comparative study of the influence of HLA incompatibilities on renal transplantation survival in the Andalusian (South of Spain) and United States (US) population. The main objective is to analyse the extent to which results about the influence of different factors on renal graft survival can be generalised to different populations. The Kaplan–Meier estimator and the Cox model have been used to identify and quantify the impact on the survival probability of HLA incompatibilities, both in isolation and in conjunction with other factors associated with the donor and recipient. According to the results obtained, HLA incompatibilities considered in isolation have negligible impact on renal survival in the Andalusian population and a moderate impact in the US population. Grouping by HLA score presents some similarities for both populations, while the sum of all HLA scores (aHLA) only has an impact on the US population. Finally, the graft survival probability of the two populations differs when aHLA is considered in conjunction with blood type. The results suggest that the disparities in the renal graft survival probability between the two populations under study are due not only to biological and transplantation-associated factors, but also to social–health factors and ethnic heterogeneity between populations.

La conducta agresiva emerge durante la infancia temprana como algo meramente evolutivo, pero esta etapa también constituye el escenario en el que pueden detectarse signos del potencial despliegue de conductas persistentes caracterizadas por la agresión, durante momentos posteriores del desarrollo. Con el fin de que este tipo de comportamientos no lleguen a estabilizarse y para evitar las consecuencias de su persistencia, se han tratado de identificar variables predictoras de los mismos en aras de abordarlos con un objetivo preventivo. En el presente estudio se investiga el valor predictivo de la empatía sobre la agresión en una muestra de 1882 niños de preescolar (Medad=4.24; DT=0.92; 48,9% niñas), siguiendo un diseño longitudinal que consta de dos momentos de recogida de datos (T1 y T2) realizados en el periodo de un año y adoptando una perspectiva de género en el análisis e interpretación de los resultados. Particularmente, se contempla la multidimensionalidad de ambos constructos para estudiar si la empatía cognitiva y/o afectiva constituyen predictores significativos de las funciones proactiva y/o reactiva del comportamiento agresivo. Se han llevado a cabo análisis de regresión jerárquica resultantes en modelos predictivos que difieren según el género, ya que en niños se ha identificado que la empatía cognitiva predice significativamente la agresión reactiva (T2) y proactiva (T2), mientras que en niñas únicamente se ha identificado la empatía afectiva como predictor significativo de la agresión reactiva (T2). Adicionalmente, se exponen las implicaciones prácticas de los resultados y sugerencias de cara a futuras investigaciones, Aggressive behavior emerges during early childhood as something merely evolutionary, although this stage also constitutes a scene in which signs of the potential unfolding, later in development, of persistent behaviors characterized by aggression. Aiming that these types of conducts do not become estable and in order to avoid the consequences of their persistence, attempts to identify variables to predict them have been made with a preventive purpose. The present study investigates the predictive value of empathy on aggression in a sample of 1882 preschoolers (Mage=4.24; SD= 0.92; 48,9% girls), following a longitudinal design that consists of two data collection waves (T1 and T2) over a one-year period and adopting a gender approach in the analysis and interpretation of results. Conduct problems (CP) constitute a major field for child clinical psychology, in terms of not only prevalence, but also developmental, social, and clinical relevance. This study carried out an umbrella review of meta-analyses on the efficacy of treatment/indicated prevention of child CP (mean age range up to 12 years). Following a registered protocol, several databases (i.e., Web of Science, PsycINFO, PROSPERO, and The Cochrane Library) were searched for meta-analyses published from January 2002 to March 2022. Nine meta-analytic publications met the required criteria, and the main characteristics and findings of the studies were systematically described. Weighted effect sizes (ESs) were calculated through RStudio program. Analyses of heterogeneity, publication bias, quality (AMSTAR-2), and credibility were also conducted. Results indicate that parent training has been the most studied intervention, with a weighted ES of d = -0.49 (95% CI -.67 to -.32). The reviewed studies identified several moderators for the efficacy of parent training, including individual (severity of CP), family (financial disadvantage), and intervention (delivery format) characteristics. Results from child-centered play therapy were also analyzed, d = -.34 (95% CI -.40 to -.28), but the reduced number of meta-analyses and the weakness detected by quality assessment suggest the need of cautiously considering the pooled effects. In general, evidence seems to be suggestive of the efficacy of treatment of CP, particularly for parent training. Nevertheless, efficacy seems to be moderate, heterogeneity indexes are high, and quality assessments of meta-analyses are often suboptimal. Background In humans, muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) is highly aggressive and associated with a poor prognosis. With a high mutation load and large number of altered genes, strategies to delineate key driver events are necessary. Dogs and cats develop urothelial carcinoma (UC) with histological and clinical similarities to human MIBC. Cattle that graze on bracken fern also develop UC, associated with exposure to the carcinogen ptaquiloside. These species may represent relevant animal models of spontaneous and carcinogen-induced UC that can provide insight into human MIBC. Results Whole-exome sequencing of domestic canine (n = 87) and feline (n = 23) UC, and comparative analysis with human MIBC reveals a lower mutation rate in animal cases and the absence of APOBEC mutational signatures. A convergence of driver genes (ARID1A, KDM6A, TP53, FAT1, and NRAS) is discovered, along with common focally amplified and deleted genes involved in regulation of the cell cycle and chromatin remodelling. We identify mismatch repair deficiency in a subset of canine and feline UCs with biallelic inactivation of MSH2. Bovine UC (n = 8) is distinctly different; we identify novel mutational signatures which are recapitulated in vitro in human urinary bladder UC cells treated with bracken fern extracts or purified ptaquiloside. Conclusion Canine and feline urinary bladder UC represent relevant models of MIBC in humans, and cross-species analysis can identify evolutionarily conserved driver genes. We characterize mutational signatures in bovine UC associated with bracken fern and ptaquiloside exposure, a human-linked cancer exposure. Our work demonstrates the relevance of cross-species comparative analysis in understanding both human and animal UC.

In the present work we will carry out an exhaustive analysis of the joint custody re-gime in the Spanish legal system. To do this, we will begin by introducing how this model came to appear in our country, as well as its evolution up to the present. Evolution that will be followed by numerous reforms, in addition to important rulings such as the dec-laration of unconstitutionality by the regime. Finally, and gradually approaching reality, we will project the most important sentences on joint custody, addressing various ap-proaches to it., En el presente estudio realizaremos un análisis exhaustivo del régimen de custodia compartida en el sistema español. Para ello comenzaremos introduciendo cómo llego a aparecer este modelo en nuestro país, así como la evolución hasta la actualidad. Evolución que se verá procedida por numerosas reformas, además de importantes sentencias como la declaración de inconstitucionalidad de parte del régimen. Finalmente, y acercándonos de forma paulatina a la realidad, proyectaremos las más importantes sentencias sobre la custodia compartida abordando diversos enfoques sobre el mismo.

Central to these discussions has been the identification of new techno-cultural complexes that overlap with the period of Neandertal demise in Europe. One such complex is the Châtelperronian, which extends from the Paris Basin to the Northern Iberian Peninsula between 43,760–39,220 BP. In this study we present the first open-air Châtelperronian site in the Northern Iberian Peninsula, Aranbaltza II. The technological features of its stone tool assemblage show no links with previous Middle Paleolithic technology in the region, and chronological modeling reveals a gap between the latest Middle Paleolithic and the Châtelperronian in this area. Mobile genetic elements control their life cycles by the expression of amaster repressor, whose function must be disabled to allow the spread of these elements in nature. Here,we describe an unprecedented repression-derepression mechanism involved in the transfer of Staphylococcus aureus pathogenicity islands (SaPIs). Contrary to the classical phage and SaPI repressors, which are dimers, the SaPI1 repressor StlSaPI1 presents a unique tetrameric conformation never seen before. Importantly, not just one but two tetramers are required for SaPI1 repression, which increases the novelty of the system. To derepress SaPI1, the phage-encoded protein Sri binds to and induces a conformational change in the DNA binding domains of StlSaPI1, preventing the binding of the repressor to its cognate StlSaPI1 sites. Finally, our findings demonstrate that this system is not exclusive to SaPI1 but widespread in nature. Overall, our results characterize a novel repression-induction system involved in the transfer of MGE-encoded virulence factors in nature.

Ante la creciente importancia de la tecnología y los medios de comunicación en la sociedad, la alfabetización mediática constituye uno de los principales retos del panorama educativo. Esta investigación pretende explorar las iniciativas mediáticas llevadas a cabo en la etapa de Educación Secundaria en la provincia de Málaga. Mediante dos muestreos no probabilísticos se seleccionaron un total de 506 estudiantes y 18 docentes —ambos conjuntos pertenecientes a 15 institutos públicos—. Al primer grupo se le distribuyó un cuestionario, mientras que el segundo fue sometido a una entrevista. El perfil del profesorado se aprecia predominantemente femenino de edad joven y media, con formación mediática y tecnológica adquirida de manera autodidacta. Los resultados reflejan el protagonismo de los recursos audiovisuales y la notable atención a las dimensiones del lenguaje y la tecnología, si bien influyen respectivamente las variables curso y sexo. La utilización de los medios —en menor medida, en esta investigación también se presta atención a las TIC—reportan una serie de beneficios al docente y al alumnado, tales como aumento de la motivación, la empatía o la adquisición de competencias clave. Estas herramientas suponen un instrumento eficaz para fomentar el aprendizaje significativo y optimizar la acción educativa, aunque las carencias formativas del profesorado en materia de educomunicación y TIC y la escasez de programas formativos permiten dilucidar que la alfabetización mediática en Secundaria está aún en fase embrionaria, Given the growing importance of technology and the media in society, media literacy is one of the main challenges in the world of education. This research aims to explore the media initiatives carried out at the Secondary Education in the province of Malaga. A total of 506 students and 18 teachers were selected —from 15 public secondary schools— by means of two non-probability samplings. The first group was given a questionnaire, while the second was subjected to an interview. The profile of the teaching staff is predominantly female of young or middle age, with a knowledge of media and technology acquired through self-tuition. The results reflect the prominence of audiovisual resources and the notable attention to areas related to language and technology, although the variables year and gender influence respectively. The use of media and —this research also pays attention to ICT— brings a series of benefits to teachers and students, such as increased motivation, empathy or the acquisition of key skills. These tools are an effective instrument to promote meaningful learning and optimize education, although deficiencies in teacher training in the field of educommunication and ICT and the lack of training programmes make it clear that media literacy in secondary education is still in its embryonic phase.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a recipient's obesity on posttransplant complications and patient and graft survival. A single-institution, retrospective study was performed on obese renal transplant recipients (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m, n = 102) from January 2010 to December 2018, matched with non-obese recipients (BMI < 30 kg/m, n = 204). For comparison, for every obese patient we selected 2 nonobese patients with a similar age, sex, and period of transplantation. The comparative analysis included patient and graft survival as primary outcomes and graft function and postoperative complications as a secondary outcome. Recipient demographics were comparable in both groups except for diabetic nephropathy in obese patients (P = .0006). Obesity was strongly related to a poorer patient survival (risk ratio [RR] = 2.83 confidence interval [CI] 95% 1.14-7.04; P = .020) but there was no observed difference in graft survival (P = .6). While early graft function was inferior in the obese population (RR = 2.41; CI 95% 1.53-3.79; P = .00016), during late follow-up, no statistically significant differences were observed between both groups (P = .36). Obese recipients had a significantly higher risk of delayed graft function (RR = 1.93; CI 95% (1.19-3.1), P = .0077), heart infarction (RR = 7; CI 95% 1.68-29.26; P = .0042), wound infections (RR = 8; CI 95% 1.96-32.87; P = .0015), diabetes aggravation (RR = 3.13; CI 95% 1.29-7.6; P = .011), and surgical revision for eventration (RR = 8; CI 95% 1.22-52.82; P = .026) when compared with nonobese recipients. Despite the inferior early kidney graft function in obese recipients, there was no difference observed at the long-term follow-up. However, recipient obesity demonstrated a negative effect on patient survival and postoperative complications.

The IoMT paradigm is at the forefront of this technological revolution underlying the development of communication infrastructures connecting smart medical devices, healthcare information systems and services. The IEEE 2413 standard, a promising general architectural framework for the design and implementation of IoT systems, has recently been announced. This standard proposes a general description for different types of domains, including healthcare, but it does not contain an extension developed for the IoMT systems domain. This paper presents a first approach to adapt the IEEE 2413 standard to the design of IoMT systems from a security perspective, considering the most relevant aspects of the standard for the construction of this type of systems. The application to an IoMT system for monitoring patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is presented as a use case.

Ante la creciente importancia de la tecnología y los medios de comunicación en la sociedad, la alfabetización mediática constituye uno de los principales retos del panorama educativo. Esta investigación pretende explorar las iniciativas mediáticas llevadas a cabo en la etapa de Educación Secundaria en la provincia de Málaga. Mediante dos muestreos no probabilísticos se seleccionaron un total de 506 estudiantes y 18 docentes —ambos conjuntos pertenecientes a 15 institutos públicos—. Al primer grupo se le distribuyó un cuestionario, mientras que el segundo fue sometido a una entrevista. El perfil del profesorado se aprecia predominantemente femenino de edad joven y media, con formación mediática y tecnológica adquirida de manera autodidacta. Healthcare information systems are evolving from traditional centralised architectures towards highly-mobile distributed environments within the connected health context. The IoMT paradigm is at the forefront of this technological revolution underlying the development of communication infrastructures connecting smart medical devices, healthcare information systems and services. The IEEE 2413 standard, a promising general architectural framework for the design and implementation of IoT systems, has recently been announced. This standard proposes a general description for different types of domains, including healthcare, but it does not contain an extension developed for the IoMT systems domain. This paper presents a first approach to adapt the IEEE 2413 standard to the design of IoMT systems from a security perspective, considering the most relevant aspects of the standard for the construction of this type of systems. The application to an IoMT system for monitoring patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is presented as a use case.

Os problemas de conduta perturbadora son frecuentes durante os anos preescolares. Sen embargo, no caso dalgúns nenos/as, tales condutas poden estar sinalando o comezo dunha traxectoria potencialmente persistente e nociva. Un desafío importante no estudo destas dificultades temperás é a heteroxeneidade na súa presentación, orixe e curso evolutivo, que contribúe a frustrar, polo menos parcialmente, os avances na prevención e intervención destes problemas. Nesta tese, propuxémonos profundizar na análise da heteroxeneidade etiolóxica e fenotípica dos problemas de conduta perturbadora de inicio temperán, empregando datos lonxitudinais dunha ampla mostra comunitaria de preescolares (Proxecto ELISA, N= 2467, 48.1% nenas, media de idade= 4.25 anos, DT=.91). As preguntas de investigación formuláronse tendo en conta os modelos teóricos dispoñíbeis e a evidencia empírica previa. A nivel conceptual, apoiámonos en aproximacións estruturais á psicopatoloxía, de corte empírico, así como na teoría e investigación sobre temperamento. A nivel metodolóxico, empregáronse modelos de variables latentes (e.g., análises con ecuacións estruturais) para contrastar as nosas hipóteses.

Tipo de estudio: Revisión sistemática. Justificación: La columna vertebral es el lugar de asentamiento más frecuente de las metástasis óseas. Debido al incremento de la esperanza de vida de los pacientes oncológicos, el tratamiento del dolor y las diferentes comorbilidades asociadas a la afectación raquídea del tumor se han convertido en una prioridad en su manejo. La vertebroplastia y la cifoplastia son técnicas quirúrgicas mínimamente invasivas que reducen el dolor y mejoran la calidad de vida de estos pacientes con bajo riesgo de complicaciones y una breve recuperación. Sin embargo, existe escasa evidencia científica de cuál es la técnica de elección para la enfermedad tumoral de la columna vertebral. Objetivo: El objetivo de esta revisión es valorar cuál de los procedimientos quirúrgicos existentes en la actualidad (vertebroplastia vs cifoplastia) representa la mejor opción en el manejo del dolor asociado a patología vertebral tumoral (metástasis óseas, mieloma múltiple,…), basándose en la evidencia existente en la literatura. Métodos: Se llevó a cabo una revisión sistemática exploratoria o de alcance (scoping review) sobre la evidencia científica generada en relación con la pregunta del estudio (pregunta PICO). Mediante descriptores estandarizados y texto libre se elaboró una estrategia de búsqueda primaria que incluyó las bases de datos Embase, PubMed y Cochrane. De forma adicional se realizó una búsqueda manual inversa de citas bibliográficas. La revisión de datos y análisis de los resultados se llevó a cabo por dos revisores de forma independiente a través de las plantillas de lectura crítica del programa FLC 3.0 con exposición narrativa de los resultados según los criterios de evaluación del Instituto Joana Briggs (JBI) y diagrama de flujo PRISMA. Resultados: De una selección de 438 artículos iniciales, fueron finalmente elegibles 8 estudios que cumplían criterios para su revisión (7 estudios de cohortes retrospectivos y 1 prospectivo). With the increase in life expectancy of cancer patients, the treatment of pain and the different associated comorbidities has become a priority in its management. Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty are minimally invasive surgical techniques that reduce pain and improve the quality of life of these patients with a low risk of complications and a short recovery. However, little evidence has been produced on which technique is best for fractures caused by bone metastatic disease. Objective: The objective of this review is to evaluate which surgical procedure represents a better option in the management of pain associated with pathological fractures due to bone metastases in the spine, vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty, based on the evidence in the literature. Methods: An exploratory or scoping systematic review of the scientific evidence in relation to the study question (PICO question) was carried out. Using standardized descriptors and free text, a primary search strategy was developed that included the Embase, PubMed, and Cochrane databases. Additionally, a reverse manual search of bibliographic citations was performed. The review of data and analysis of the results was carried out by two reviewers independently through the critical reading templates of the FLC 3.0 program with a narrative presentation of the results according to the evaluation criteria of the Joana Briggs Institute (JBI) and diagram of PRISM flow. The present study aims to further examine the four-factor model of psychopathy in adolescence with a new alternate model for the assessment of psychopathic traits and conduct disorder (CD): The Proposed Specifiers for Conduct Disorder-Short version (PSCD-SV). Data were collected in a sample of 414 adolescents (49.2% females) aged 12–15 at the first assessment who were then followed-up 2 years later. Results supported the usefulness of the PSCD-SV to assess the broader construct of psychopathy showing good psychometric properties, including adequate reliability and validity, while accounting for all its dimensions. In addition, the study showed close associations between psychopathic traits and adolescent behavioral, emotional and psychosocial maladjustment. Finally, the findings elucidated the PSCD’s connection to parental support and psychological control, and reinforced the potential role of parenting practices as predictors that can act as mechanisms of change in the development of psychopathy. Background: The critical patient has been a challenge in the ICU due to the high rate of morbidity, mortality and complications. Nutritional therapy is important because its adequate administration has been associated with good clinical results. General objective: To observe the nutritional therapy administered to critical patients in the Intensive Care Unit of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, Cuenca, 2021. Methodology: A retrospective, observational-descriptive study was carried out using the Excel database created from the digital medical records of 13 patients from the HVCM ICU, collected using forms. The results were worked in Excel, through distribution of frequencies and percentages, measures of central tendency (mean) and dispersion (standard deviation); presented in tables and graphs. Results: Resting energy expenditure (REE) measured by indirect calorimetry (CI) (1728 ± 231 kcal/day) and estimated by the thumb formula (1718 ± 323 kcal/day) were apparently similar. Calories actually administered were 999 ± 305 kcal/day, representing 84% of the mean caloric goal (1118 ± 263 kcal/day) and 57.81% of the REE measured by CI. Conclusion: Nutritional therapy in critical patients of ICU from HVCM does not seem to vary if IC or thumb formula is used. Since the IC is considered the international gold standard in these patients, it should be used whenever it is available. However, more related studies are required in Ecuador.

Multiple factors have been proposed to explain the disappearance of Neandertals between ca. 50 and 40 kyr BP. Central to these discussions has been the identification of new techno-cultural complexes that overlap with the period of Neandertal demise in Europe. One such complex is the Chatelperronian, which extends from the Paris Basin to the Northern Iberian Peninsula between 43,760-39,220 BP. In this study we present the first open-air Chatelperronian site in the Northern Iberian Peninsula, Aranbaltza II. The technological features of its stone tool assemblage show no links with previous Middle Paleolithic technology in the region, and chronological modeling reveals a gap between the latest Middle Paleolithic and the Chatelperronian in this area. We interpret this as evidence of local Neandertal extinction and replacement by other Neandertal groups coming from southern France, illustrating how local extinction episodes could have played a role in the process of disappearance of Neandertals.

Dvoskin et al. (2022) offered a cautionary comment on an article published in the Journal of Personality Disorders (López-Romero et al., 2021). This comment was focused on the scientific and policy grounds of our study, and cautioned against the use of the "putative psychopathic personality" label for applied purposes. While we agree with most of their concerns and cautions, we aim to provide additional clarification on the raised concerns, noting that the purpose of our study is purely exploratory, and that its findings are not intended for applied purposes. We do expect that our study and this commentary will further clarify the importance of examining psychopathic personality from a developmental perspective, opening new ways of discussion regarding how to best conceptualize and study a construct that, while waiting for additional longitudinal research, has been shown as relevant in identifying a group of children and adolescents at increased risk for maladjustment.

This study aimed to test the predictive and incremental value of psychopathic trait dimensions in early childhood. To this end, a callous-unemotional (CU)-based approach was compared to the multidimensional psychopathic personality approach in predicting future and stable conduct problems (CP) and aggression, whilst controlling for well-established risk factors for child CP. Prospective longitudinal data were collected from a community sample of 2247 children (48.6% girls) aged three to six (Mage = 4.25; SD = 0.91) at the initial assessment. Participants were followed annually for two years, with information provided by parents. Children were assigned to six mutually exclusive groups based on their baseline levels of psychopathic traits and conduct problems. Results showed that, after accounting for sociodemographic variables, temperamental features (e.g., fearlessness), and ADHD symptoms, children scoring high in all psychopathic traits and high in CP were at increased risk to display future and stable CP, reactive and proactive aggression, followed by the group of children high in CU traits and CP. Mobile genetic elements control their life cycles by the expression of a master repressor, whose function must be disabled to allow the spread of these elements in nature. Here, we describe an unprecedented repression-derepression mechanism involved in the transfer of Staphylococcus aureus pathogenicity islands (SaPIs). Contrary to the classical phage and SaPI repressors, which are dimers, the SaPI1 repressor StlSaPI1 presents a unique tetrameric conformation never seen before. Importantly, not just one but two tetramers are required for SaPI1 repression, which increases the novelty of the system. To derepress SaPI1, the phage-encoded protein Sri binds to and induces a conformational change in the DNA binding domains of StlSaPI1, preventing the binding of the repressor to its cognate StlSaPI1 sites. Finally, our findings demonstrate that this system is not exclusive to SaPI1 but widespread in nature. Overall, our results characterize a novel repression-induction system involved in the transfer of MGE-encoded virulence factors in nature.

Globally, the treatment of domestic wastewater is focused on the removal of organic matter and nutrients. Conventional Activated Sludge (CAS) and its variations are some of the most commonly applied technologies. Aerobic Granular Sludge (AGS) is an alternative to CAS that has shown similar removal efficiencies for wastewater treatment. The quality of secondary effluents from CAS and AGS systems typically meets physicochemical discharge limits. However, these technologies do not sufficiently remove microorganisms, which may be pathogenic to humans, animals, or crops. Therefore, post-treatment disinfection is required to inactivate or destroy pathogens at municipal water resources recovery facilities (WRRFs) and meet microbial safety standards for the effluent to the discharge receiving water body or water reuse. Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection employed as a tertiary treatment to remove microorganisms is currently being implemented around the world. The small footprint compared with large chlorination contact tanks and the absence of disinfection by-products (DBPs) are some of the advantages of UV disinfection systems. However, its performance for post-treatment of AGS had not been documented. Therefore, the aim of this research was to investigate the application of UV-light-emitting diodes (UVC-LED) for AGS effluent disinfection and compare it with the efficacy for CAS effluent. Both UVC-LED and AGS have recently emerged as outstanding emerging alternatives for water treatment. The results of this research provide valuable information from the perspective of public health, wastewater reclamation, and disinfection. This six-month research provided a unique opportunity to study the application of UVC-LED disinfection at wavelengths 255 nm LED, 265 nm LED, and 280 nm LED on full-scale AGS effluent and compared it with its application in a full-scale CAS effluent. El Real Decreto 244/2019, de 5 de abril, por el que se regulan las condiciones administrativas, técnicas y económicas del autoconsumo de energía eléctrica en el se establecen dos tipos de instalaciones de autoconsumo sin excedentes y con excedentes, en este segundo caso acogida a compensación o no acogida a compensación.
