- Abstract
This is the URL to the finding aid for RG 190.01 - School of Health Sciences Records. This collection features documents related to the history of the School of Health Sciences and associated programs at Springfield College. Since the school's founding focus on humanics and its continuing dedication to physical health through sports, the program slowly evolved from several health science courses in the 50s to the creation of the Health Science/General Studies program in the 2000s. Through these documents, one can roughly map the journey to the training of healthcare professionals today. The materials in the collection include reports, correspondence, memos, memorabilia, photographs, pamphlets, manuals, and publications. There is some realia, such as a Braille typewriter that was used to teach Blindness and Visual Studies. In addition there is information on the college's simulation lab, general School newsletters, proceeding from regional training institutes, field manuals for internships and working off campus, and some program and accreditation materials from the Rehabilitation Studies Program (1995) and the Rehab Counseling and Services Graduate Program (2008).
