Massive higher spin fields are notoriously difficult to introduce interactions when they are described by symmetric (spin)-tensors. An alternative approach is to use chiral description that does not have unphysical longitudinal modes. For low spin fields we show that chiral and symmetric approaches can be related via a family of invertible change of variables (equivalent to parent actions), which should facilitate introduction of consistent interactions in the symmetric approach and help to control parity in the chiral one. We consider some examples of electromagnetic and gravitational interactions and their transmutations when going to the chiral formulation. Chiral higher-spin gravity is a higher-spin extension of both self-dual Yang-Mills and self-dual gravity and is a unique local higher-spin gravity in four dimensions. Its existence implies that there are two closed subsectors in Chern-Simons matter theories. We make first steps in identifying these (anti-)chiral subsectors directly on the CFT side, which should result in a holographically dual pair where both sides are nontrivial, complete, yet exactly soluble. Higher spin gravities do not have a low energy limit where higher-spin fields decouple from gravity. Nevertheless, it is possible to construct fine-tuned exact solutions that activate low-spin fields without sourcing the higher-spin fields. We show that BPST (Belavin-Polyakov-Schwartz-Tyupkin) instanton is an exact solution of Chiral Higher Spin Gravity, i.e. it is also a solution of the holographic dual of Chern-Simons matter theories. This gives an example of a low-spin solution. The instanton sources the opposite helicity spin-one field and a scalar field. We derive an Effective Field Theory that describes the coupling between an instanton and the other two fields, whose action starts with the Chalmers-Siegel action and has certain higher derivative couplings., Comment: 33 pages

We construct a candidate tree-level gravitational Compton amplitude for a rotating Kerr black hole, for any quantum spin s 1/4 0, 1/2, 1, ..., infinity, from which we extract the corresponding classical amplitude to all orders in the spin vector S'`. We use multiple insights from massive higher-spin quantum field theory, such as massive gauge invariance and improved behavior in the massless limit. A chiral-field approach is particularly helpful in ensuring correct degrees of freedom, and for writing down compact off-shell interactions for general spin. The simplicity of the interactions is echoed in the structure of the spin-s Compton amplitude, for which we use homogeneous symmetric polynomials of the spin variables. Where possible, we compare to the general-relativity results in the literature, available up to eighth order in spin.

We propose that the dynamics of Kerr black holes is strongly constrained by the principle of gauge symmetry. We initiate the construction of effective field theories for Kerr black holes of any integer quantum spin s using Stückelberg fields, and show that the known three-point Kerr amplitudes are uniquely predicted using massive higher-spin gauge symmetry. This symmetry is argued to be connected to an enhanced range of validity for the Kerr effective field theories. We consider the closely related root-Kerr electromagnetic solution in parallel, for which the dynamical interactions with photons are also constrained by massive higher-spin gauge symmetry. Direct numerical simulations of thin, straight riblets were conducted to investigate the physical mechanisms involved when the inertial effects within the ribs become important. The main parameter that we assess here is the ribs’ height to spacing ratio (a=h/s). In all cases, ‘k’-type behaviour was observed despite the absence of the pressure drag component. This trend also refers to the destruction of the near-wall cycles and was indicated by the shortening of Reynolds stress structures, mimicking the flows over rough walls. Closely-packed ribs with large h/s have a tendency to generate Kelvin–Helmholtz (KH) like structures at the tips, inducing large pressure fluctuations. Conversely, sparser ribs with low h/s trigger the formation of large mean secondary flows that suppress the pressure fluctuations. We further split the drag contribution of these distinct flow features by decomposing the roughness function into the dispersive and the Reynolds-stress terms. This analysis concludes that the fully-rough (logarithmic) scaling within the drag-increasing regime is transitional, and as the Reynolds number increases, deviates to a more gradual power-law scaling due to the drag increasing mechanism of streamwise aligned secondary motions.

Chiral higher spin gravity is defined in terms of a strong homotopy algebra of pre-Calabi-Yau type (noncommutative Poisson structure). All structure maps are given by the integrals over the configuration space of concave polygons and the first two maps are related to the (Shoikhet-Tsygan-)Kontsevich Formality. We propose a covariant technique to excavate physical bosonic string states by entire trajectories rather than individually. The approach is based on Howe duality: the string's spacetime Lorentz algebra commutes with a certain inductive limit of $sp(\bullet)$, with the Virasoro constraints forming a subalgebra of the Howe dual algebra $sp(\bullet)$. There are then infinitely many simple trajectories of states, which are lowest-weight representations of $sp(\bullet)$ and hence of the Virasoro algebra. Deeper trajectories are recurrences of the simple ones and can be probed by suitable trajectory-shifting operators built out of the Howe dual algebra generators. Motivated by the generation of action principles from off-shell dualisation, we present a general class of free, topological theories in three dimensional Minkowski spacetime that exhibit higher-spin gauge invariance. In the spin-two case, we recover a dual reformulation of the triplet system already known, while the higher-spin systems that we obtain seem to be new. They are associated with wild quivers. We study in which situations these exotic (or strange) higher-spin models can be extended to dS${}_3$ and AdS${}_3$ backgrounds, revealing that the flat limit of such models, when they exist, admits a one-parameter freedom. We develop massive higher-spin theory as a framework for describing dynamics of rotating compact objects, such as Kerr black holes. In this paper, we explore gauge interactions up to quartic order and corresponding Compton amplitudes of higher-spin massive objects coupled to electromagnetism and Yang-Mills theory. Their classical counterparts are known as root-Kerr gauge-theory solutions, whose amplitudes are closely related to those of Kerr black holes. We use three distinct approaches: (i) massive higher-spin gauge symmetry to introduce cubic interactions for all spins and the quartic interactions up to spin 3, which is implemented both off shell and via Ward identities; (ii) a chiral higher-spin approach to construct quartic Lagrangians with correct degrees of freedom to all spins; (iii) on-shell functional patterns before and after taking the classical limit to constrain the Compton amplitudes. As final results, we arrive at simple local formulae for the candidate root-Kerr Compton amplitudes both in the quantum regime and classical limit, to all orders in spin. Scattering of two Kerr Black Holes emitting gravitational waves can be captured by an effective theory of a massive higher-spin field interacting with the gravitational field. While other compact objects should activate a multitude of non-minimal interactions it is the black holes that should be captured by the simplest minimal interaction. Implementing massive higher-spin symmetry via a string-inspired BRST approach we construct an action that reproduces the correct cubic amplitude of Arkani-Hamed--Huang--Huang. Airfoil–turbulence interaction noise is a known source of environmental disturbance and acoustic performance loss in aeroacoustics and hydroacoustics. This noise can be predicted using semi-analytical models that require input measurements of the incoming turbulent flow parameters. However, the turbulence parameters are inherently difficult to measure accurately. These parameters, which include the turbulence kinetic energy and its dissipation rate, have a stochastic nature. This study aims to investigate how small variations in the measurements of turbulence parameters affect the uncertainty of the predicted airfoil–turbulence interaction noise. This is achieved by applying polynomial chaos expansion (PCE) to the semi-analytical model of Amiet’s theory for airfoil-interaction noise. The validity of the deterministic and stochastic simulations is ensured by comparisons against available experimental data from the literature, and Monte Carlo simulations, respectively. Uncertainty quantification is then performed using a stochastic collocation technique, where the aerodynamic noise is evaluated at specific collocation points to estimate the coefficients required for PCE. Both the individual and combined effects of varying the uncertain input turbulence parameters are simulated to quantify the uncertainty of the output aerodynamic noise. The insights gained from the results suggest it is important to incorporate the stochastic behavior of the incoming turbulent flow in operational models for airfoil–turbulence interaction noise predictions.

There exists a unique class of local Higher Spin Gravities with propagating massless fields in $4d$ - Chiral Higher Spin Gravity. Originally, it was formulated in the light-cone gauge. We construct a covariant form of this theory as a Free Differential Algebra up to NLO, i.e. at the level of equations of motion. There exists a natural $L_\infty$-algebra or $Q$-manifold that can be associated to any (gauge) field theory. Perturbatively, it can be obtained by reducing the $L_\infty$-algebra behind the jet space BV-BRST formulation to its minimal model. We explicitly construct the minimal models of self-dual Yang-Mills and self-dual gravity theories, which also represents their equations of motion as Free Differential Algebras. We discuss a new class of strong homotopy algebras constructed via inner deformations. Such deformations have a number of remarkable properties. In the simplest case, every one-parameter family of associative algebras leads to an $L_\infty$-algebra that can be used to construct a classical integrable model. Another application of this class of $L_\infty$-algebras is related with the three-dimensional bosonization duality in Chern--Simons vector models, where it implements the idea of the slightly-broken higher spin symmetry. One large class of associative algebras originates from Deformation Quantization of Poisson Manifolds. Applications to the $3d$-bosonization duality require, however, an extension to deformation quantization of Poisson Orbifolds, which is an open problem. Using the Schwinger-Keldysh-formalism, reformulated in arXiv:2108.01695 as an effective field theory in Euclidean anti-de Sitter, we evaluate the one-loop cosmological four-point function of a conformally coupled interacting scalar field in de Sitter. Recasting the Witten cosmological correlator as flat space Feynman integrals, we evaluate the one-loop cosmological four-point functions in de Sitter space in terms of single-valued multiple polylogarithms. From it we derive anomalous dimensions and OPE coefficients of the dual conformal field theory at space-like, future infinity. We describe a systematic approach for the evaluation of Witten diagrams for multi-loop scattering amplitudes of a conformally coupled scalar $\phi^4$-theory in Euclidean AdS$_4$, by recasting the Witten diagrams as flat space Feynman integrals. We derive closed form expressions for the anomalous dimensions for all double-trace operators up to the second order in the coupling constant. Time and frequency domain numerical models are developed to investigate the acoustic performance of metascreen-based coatings for maritime applications. The coating designs are composed of periodic air-filled cavities embedded in a soft elastic medium, which is attached to a hard backing and submerged in water. Numerical results for an acoustic coating with cylindrical cavities are favourably compared with analytical and experimental results from the literature. Frequencies associated with peak sound absorption as a function of the geometric parameters of the cavities and material properties of the host medium are predicted. Variation in the cavity dimensions that modifies the cylindrical-shaped cavities to flat disks or thin needles is modelled. Results reveal that high sound absorption occurs when either the diameter or length of the cavities is reduced. Physical mechanisms governing sound absorption for the various cavity designs are described.

In the context of a shortage of labor and objective patterns of the development of means of production in a number of sectors of agriculture, farmers are increasingly using robotics. Despite the presence of significant positive economic effects, the robotization of agriculture in Russia is carried out at a slow pace and is very uneven. This suggests that the robotization of agriculture is influenced by the socio-economic characteristics and characteristics of the regions. The methods are based on a systematic approach to research and an algebraic approach to modelling, which, in our opinion, is a system of several components. To build models, data on the introduction of robotics in Russian agriculture for 2006–2020 and the socio-economic characteristics of the regions during the period of the most intensive introduction of robots (2013–2017) were used. As a conclusion, it can be noted that the robotization of agriculture in the Russian Federation is at the implementation stage, which is confirmed by a significant spread in the correlation coefficient of robotization indicators and various socio-economic characteristics of the regions, including the share of organizations using the Internet, availability of road infrastructure, the share of the rural population in the regions and a number of other indicators. It is shown that, at this stage of the robotization of agriculture, the most important are the models of the management process, while the priority is the subjective component of decision-making about the introduction of robotics, both at the micro level and at the regional level. We have proposed models that reflect various aspects of the robotization process and three mathematical models for the implementation of the strategy are built, which form a model-triad. Three theorems on the existence of an optimal realization of the strategy are proved. © 2022 by the authors.

Controlling thermal transport is important for a range of devices and technologies, from phase change memories to next-generation electronics. This is especially true in nano-scale devices where thermal transport is altered by the influence of surfaces and changes in dimensionality. In superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors, the thermal boundary conductance between the nanowire and the substrate it is fabricated on influences all of the performance metrics that make these detectors attractive for applications. This includes the maximum count rate, latency, jitter, and quantum efficiency. Despite its importance, the study of thermal boundary conductance in superconducting nanowire devices has not been done systematically, primarily due to the lack of a straightforward characterization method. Here, we show that simple electrical measurements can be used to estimate the thermal boundary conductance between nanowires and substrates and that these measurements agree with acoustic mismatch theory across a variety of substrates. Numerical simulations allow us to refine our understanding, however, open questions remain. This work should enable thermal engineering in superconducting nanowire electronics and cryogenic detectors for improved device performance. [Abstract copyright: © 2022. The Author(s).]

Conformal Higher Spin Gravity is a higher spin extension of Weyl gravity and is a family of local higher spin theories, which was put forward by Segal and Tseytlin. We propose a manifestly covariant and coordinate-independent action for these theories. The result is based on an interplay between higher spin symmetries and deformation quantization: a locally equivalent but manifestly background-independent reformulation, known as the parent system, of the off-shell multiplet of conformal higher spin fields (Fradkin-Tseytlin fields) can be interpreted in terms of Fedosov deformation quantization of the underlying cotangent bundle. This brings into the game the invariant quantum trace, induced by the Feigin-Felder-Shoikhet cocycle of Weyl algebra, which extends Segal's action into a gauge invariant and globally well-defined action functional on the space of configurations of the parent system. We lift the recently proposed theories of higher-spin self-dual Yang-Mills (SDYM) and gravity (SDGR) to the twistor space. We find that the most natural room for the twistor formulation of these theories is not in the projective, but in the full twistor space, which is the total space of the spinor bundle over the 4-dimensional manifold. In the case of higher-spin extension of the SDYM we prove an analogue of the Ward theorem, and show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between the solutions of the field equations and holomorphic vector bundles over the twistor space. In the case of the higher-spin extension of SDGR we show show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between solutions of the field equations and Ehresmann connections on the twistor space whose horizontal distributions are Poisson, and whose curvature is decomposable. Recently, a unique class of local Higher Spin Gravities with propagating massless fields in $4d$ - Chiral Higher Spin Gravity - was given a covariant formulation both in flat and $(A)dS_4$ spacetimes at the level of equations of motion. We unfold the corresponding homological perturbation theory as to explicitly obtain all interaction vertices. The vertices reveal a remarkable simplicity after an appropriate change of variables. We investigate the swampland distance conjecture in higher-spin gravity. To this end, we study multicritical generalizations of large-$N$ vector models, bosonic and fermionic, and we compute the quantum information distance along selected renormalization-group trajectories toward the higher-spin limit. In striking contrast to the expected exponential decay of higher-spin masses or anomalous dimensions, we find that infinite-distance limits in these models lead to a power-like decay. This suggests that stringy exponential decays are characteristic of matrix-like gauge theories, rather than vector models. Chiral Higher Spin Gravity is the minimal extension of the graviton with propagating massless higher spin fields. It admits any value of the cosmological constant, including zero. We propose a new, chiral description for massive higher-spin particles in four spacetime dimensions, which facilitates the introduction of consistent interactions. As proof of concept, we formulate three theories, in which higher-spin matter is coupled to electrodynamics, non-Abelian gauge theory or gravity. The theories are chiral and have simple Lagrangians, resulting in Feynman rules analogous to those of massive scalars. Starting from these Feynman rules, we derive tree-level scattering amplitudes with two higher-spin matter particles and any number of positive-helicity photons, gluons or gravitons. The amplitudes reproduce the arbitrary-multiplicity results that were obtained via on-shell recursion in a parity-conserving setting, and which chiral and non-chiral theories thus have in common. Helicity is a useful concept both for $AdS_4$ and CFT${}_3$ studies. We work out the complete $AdS_4/CFT_3$ dictionary for spinning fields/operators in the spinor-helicity base that allows one to scalarize any $n$-point contact vertex. $AdS_4$-vertices encode correlation functions of conserved currents, stress-tensor and, more generally, higher spin currents in a simple way. We work out the dictionary for Yang-Mills- and gravity-type theories with higher derivative corrections as well as some higher spin examples and exemplify the relation to the three-dimensional bosonization duality. The paper offers one of the ways to solve the problem in question considering the philological and aesthetic impact on the language thinking of the individual in order to form a harmoniously developed linguistic personality. In this case, the linguo-aesthetic parameters of texts are inexhaustible material for innovative research. Linguistic aesthetics is an integral part of national culture, in particular, linguistic culture. In the collective consciousness of speakers of the national language, the aesthetic aspect of the text generates a linguo-aesthetic image of the world peculiar to each linguistic community. The article considers some aspects of aesthetic communication and the literary image of the world with regard to the discursive factors of artistic texts. The working hypothesis is that the linguo-aesthetics of the French language have a high degree of linguocultural activity in the modern French national discourse and, accordingly, in the linguistic image of the world. The study discusses some aspects of sports communication and linguistic worldview with due regard to national and cultural parameters. In particular, the authors of the article study sport phraseological units with coloronim-components in Russian and French. They describe various components of sports worldview in two linguistic cultures, whose key element is the linguistic personality of a common native speaker. Empirical data are analyzed and interpreted on the basis of the linguo-semiotic approach, i.e., within the framework of a discourse statement and at the level of the nominative fund of Russian and French. Sports terms are considered at the level of general linguistic and ethno-cultural dominants of national jargons. The hypothesis is that the structure of any discourse is based on the use of professional and jargon (in particular sports) terms. Their semantics correlates with the linguistic self-identification of each nation., O estudo discute alguns aspectos da comunicação esportiva e da visão de mundo linguística levando em conta os parâmetros nacionais e culturais. Predictions of the vibroacoustic response of a point-force excited baffled thin rectangular plate immersed in a heavy fluid and near a free surface are presented using an analytical model. The equations of motion are solved by Fourier analysis, where the eigenfunctions of plate vibration form the basis of spatial expansion for fluid loading. Vibroacoustic indicators, including the plate velocity, acoustic pressure, and acoustic power, are predicted using the analytical approach and verification is performed by comparison with finite element simulations. The results have shown that variations in the height of the free surface can have a significant effect on these indicators. From the vibration response, added mass effect due to heavy fluid loading is altered and further investigated with the explicit evaluation of an added mass ratio for different free surface heights for the first five plate modes. For a given height of a free surface, standing waves can form between the free surface and baffled plate at specific excitation frequencies and slightly alters the acoustic pressure spectra. This condition also presents an effect on the acoustic power, where the first standing wave frequency dictates the efficient sound radiation to the far field.

Oleg Chukhontsev is one of the most outstanding modern Russian poets. In his creativity, there was only one period when he almost did not create from late 1980 to the second half of the 1990s. As the author states, everything has died, both his former poetics (personal meaning) and his former country (general meaning). The poet has lost the gift of speech because he ceased to feel an organic connection with his native land since it was “seriously ill and was almost at death”. We explore a class of CFT's with higher spin currents and charges. Away from the free or $N=\infty$ limit the non-conservation of currents is governed by operators built out of the currents themselves, which deforms the algebra of charges by, and together with, its action on the currents. This structure is encoded in a certain $A_\infty/L_\infty$-algebra. Under quite general assumptions we construct invariants of the deformed higher spin symmetry, which are candidate correlation functions. In particular, we show that there is a finite number of independent structures at the $n$-point level. The invariants are found to have a form reminiscent of a one-loop exact theory. We construct a new covariant action for "flat" self-dual gravity in four spacetime dimensions. The action has just one term, but when expanded around an appropriate background gives rise to a kinetic term and a cubic interaction. Upon imposing the light-cone gauge, the action reproduces the expected chiral interaction of Siegel. The new action is in many ways analogous to the known covariant action for self-dual Yang-Mills theory. There is also a sense in which the new self-dual gravity action exhibits the double copy of self-dual Yang-Mills structure., Comment: 18 pages

Higher Spin Gravities are scarce, but covariant actions for them are even scarcer. We construct covariant actions for contractions of Chiral Higher Spin Gravity that represent higher spin extensions of self-dual Yang-Mills and self-dual Gravity theories. The actions give examples of complete higher spin theories both in flat and (anti)-de Sitter spaces that feature gauge and gravitational interactions. The actions are based on a new description of higher spin fields, whose origin can be traced to early works on twistor theory. The new description simplifies the structure of interactions. In particular, we find a covariant form of the minimal gravitational interaction for higher spin fields both in flat and anti-de Sitter space, which resolves some of the puzzles in the literature., Comment: 28 pages+refs

As a step towards quantization of Higher Spin Gravities we construct the presymplectic AKSZ sigma-model for $4d$ Higher Spin Gravity which is AdS/CFT dual of Chern-Simons vector models. It is shown that the presymplectic structure leads to the correct quantum commutator of higher spin fields and to the correct algebra of the global higher spin symmetry currents. Foreign (especially English) language learning has witnessed growing popularity in Russia over the last decades due to the enormous change in economic, political, legal, and cultural domains in the current period. The increasing need for good English speaking and writing skills put forward a demand for the accurate use of lexical items and grammatical structures by those who study English as a foreign language (EFL). Lexical and grammatical accuracy acquires a crucial importance in reasoning and argumentation. A slapdash word or syntactic construction in the argument structure may submit the listener to a conclusion, which is completely different from what the speaker implied. Such issues may be particularly frustrating in academic, legal, business, medical, and other types of institutional discourse. The rules of Aristotelian logic, underlying the good majority of reasoning structures, are generic. Therefore, it is a certain difference between the two languages, native (Russian) and foreign (English), that makes Russian students of English misinterprete logical chains and use irrelevant lexical items and grammatical constructions.
