Mesozoic granitoids in Peninsular Malaysia provide crucial information on the temporal–spatial relationship between the Tethyan and Palaeo-Pacific domains. This paper presents new ages and geochemical data for newly identified Jurassic–Cretaceous granites and meta-granites from East Malaya. These granitoids can be divided into three groups. Group 1 consists of high-K calc-alkaline granites and granodiorites (171–162 Ma) with variable εNd(t) values of −7.4–+0.5, zircon εHf(t) values of −7.4–+8.6, and high initial ratios for 206Pb/204Pb (20.04–20.65), 207Pb/204Pb (15.73–15.79) and 208Pb/204Pb (39.80–40.20). The melting of metasedimentary rocks with a juvenile mafic component formed Group 1 samples. Group 2 granite porphyries (c. 131 Ma) with A-type affinities and Group 3 granitic gneisses (c. 130 Ma) with I-type affinities share similar εNd(t) values (−7.2 to −5.5), zircon εHf(t) values (−10.1–+6.5), and initial ratios for 206Pb/204Pb (18.81–19.02), 207Pb/204Pb (15.71–15.77) and 208Pb/204Pb (38.95–39.59). Although Group 2 and 3 samples were derived from an 'ancient' meta-mafic source region, Group 2 shows evidence for the involvement of a juvenile mafic component. All these granitoids are akin to the Permian–Triassic igneous rocks in East Malaya. The Jurassic–Cretaceous igneous rocks in Eastern Peninsular Malaysia were formed during multiple stages of continental rifting in response to Palaeo-Pacific slab rollback pulses rather than by Tethyan evolutionary processes. The article discusses the benefits and challenges of physical therapy (PT) group sessions. Topics covered include the differences between group sessions or classes and group therapy during a PT practitioner visit, the situations where each of them can be most effective, and the availability of free virtual classes and patient outreach. Social workers face unique challenges in working with families, young people and children in rural and remote communities. Simultaneously, workers juggle dual relationships, personal boundaries and high visibility. Social work practise in rural Australia also faces high staff turnover, burnout and difficulties with recruitment, retention and available professional supervision. A lack of professional supervision has been identified as directly contributing to decreased worker retention in rural and remote areas. This paper reports on emerging themes from a qualitative research study on peer supervision in virtual teams in rural and remote Australia. Data collection consisted of pre- and post-trial individual interviews, monthly group supervision sessions, online evaluations and focus groups. A key conclusion from the study is that peer group supervision worked in supporting rural and remote workers to perform their everyday professional roles. The ease and access afforded by the use of simple technology was noteworthy. Whilst the research was conducted with social workers in rural and remote areas, the use of peer group supervision could be applicable for other professionals who work with families and communities in rural and remote Australia. The article discusses the importance of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) initiatives in the field of clinical and translational science. Translational science involves turning laboratory and clinical findings into interventions that improve public and individual health. The Association for Clinical and Translational Science supports the Clinical and Translational Science Awards program, which recognizes medical institutions that demonstrate expertise in translational science and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The article also highlights the eight principles of translational science, including prioritizing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. The Association has created special interest groups to address each principle, including the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Special Interest Group. This group aims to advance JEDI in clinical and translational science by conducting working groups, providing training sessions, and facilitating safe spaces for discussion among members. Affinity groups have also been created to foster collaboration and support among diverse populations. Suicide bereavement support groups are a valuable source of help for people coping with a suicide and it is important to understand how they are beneficial, as well as ways in which they may be unhelpful or even detrimental. A constructivist grounded theory approach was implemented and17 family members bereaved by suicide were interviewed, along with seven participants in a focus group. The findings highlighted the difficulties for participants to adjust to the suicide, which motivated them to meet others in a peer suicide bereavement group who had shared a similar experience. This helped them to normalise their grief experiences and share ways of coping with the death. Some participants encountered practical challenges of accessing groups, found other ways of coping or described their needs as unmet. It is recommended that health services proactively provide bereaved families with timely and ongoing information on support available, including peer support groups, to minimise negative health outcomes. This article reviews the nature of post-disaster peer support groups and highlights their role in addressing collective grief and trauma following mass fatality incidents. With reference to best practice guidelines for responding to collective trauma events the article highlights the functions of peer support in promoting social support, connectedness and self/community efficacy. Different types of UK-based peer support group are described – from independent user-based action groups to facilitated talking groups as part of wider community support networks. The establishment and delivery of the Manchester Attack Support Group Programme (following the 2017 Manchester Arena terror attack) is discussed as a contemporary example of a network of facilitated talking groups. It complements the participation of bereaved people and survivors in other independent and self-determined peer-based activities such as the Manchester Survivors Choir and terrorism-related campaigns. A significant proportion of secondary school pupils in the UK have experienced the death of someone close. Bereavement in childhood can have a significant and long lasting impact. The aim of this study was to explore how pupils aged between 12 and 18 understand major loss, death and dying, whom they talk to and the support they access at these times, and their awareness of the range of support available to them. A total of 31 pupils, 108 parents and 37 staff from a large Scottish secondary school took part and data was collected using online questionnaires. A high proportion of pupils had experience of major loss or bereavement and showed significant awareness of their feelings and responses to these. It appears that young people primarily seek support from family and friends, but the role of peers is less well recognised by parents and teachers.
