Researchers from K.N. Toosi University of Technology in Tehran, Iran have developed a numerical model to study drug delivery systems in anti-angiogenic therapy-treated tumors. The model takes into account the behavior of blood flow and interstitial fluid flow, as well as the effects of angiostatin on tumor growth. The study found that anti-angiogenic therapy can improve the quality of drug delivery by reducing drug wash-out in the tumor periphery. The research highlights the importance of microvascular structure and interstitial transport properties in drug delivery.
