Aerosolised Ad5-nCoV is the first approved mucosal respiratory COVID-19 vaccine to be used as a booster after the primary immunisation with COVID-19 vaccines. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of aerosolised Ad5-nCoV, intramuscular Ad5-nCoV, or inactivated COVID-19 vaccine CoronaVac given as the second booster.

Due to waning immunity and protection against infection with SARS-CoV-2, a third dose of a homologous or heterologous COVID-19 vaccine has been proposed by health agencies for individuals who were previously primed with two doses of an inactivated COVID-19 vaccine.

A medical nanoplatform with small size, low cost, biocompatibility, good biodegradability, and, in particular, multifunctionality has attracted much attention in the exploration of novel therapeutic methodologies. As an emerging material of self-assembled porous structure, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have high expectations because of their special properties compared to traditional porous materials. Therefore, integration of MOFs and functional materials is leading to the creation of new multifunctional composites/hybrids. Photothermal therapy (PTT), using near-IR (NIR) laser-absorbing nanomaterials as PTT agents, has shown encouraging therapeutic effects to photothermally ablate tumors. However, the most of widely used PTT agents are inorganic materials and nonbiodegradable. Herein, uniform polypyrrole (PPy) nanoparticles (NPs) with good biodegradability were synthesized by a microemulsion method. The PPy NPs were further coated with the mesoporous iron-based MOF structure MIL-100 by interaction between PPy NPs and MIL-100 precursors at room temperature. As a multifunctional nanoplatform, an anticancer drug could easily be loaded into the mesopores of the MIL-100 shell. The PPy core, as an organic photothermal agent, is able to photothermally ablate cancer cells and improve the efficacy of chemotherapy under NIR irradiation. The composites showed an outstanding in vivo synergistic anticancer capacity. Our work could encourage further study in the construction of a synergetic system using MOFs and organic PTT agents.

By analyzing the structural thermal load mechanism of boiler drum, several temperature field models were analyzed and compared; thermal stress calculation method and its impact on the overall stress field were studied. Finally, according to the domestic and several foreign fatigue life assessment standards, the fatigue life prediction modes of boiler drum were discussed. Based on fatigue curve interpolation and the Miner fatigue linear accumulated damage theory of safety guidelines, the life loss results of initiating low-cycle fatigue crack can be calculated. Both ASME code and GB/T9222-2008 standard are suitable to fatigue life assessment for boiler drum, due to the reasonable basis and reliable results.

A vaccine for enterovirus 71 (EV71) is needed to address the high burden of disease associated with infection. We assessed the efficacy, safety, immunogenicity, antibody persistence, and immunological correlates of an inactivated alum-adjuvant EV71 vaccine.

Enterovirus 71 (EV71) outbreaks are a socioeconomic burden, especially in the western Pacific region. Results of phase 1 clinical trials suggest an EV71 vaccine has a clinically acceptable safety profile and immunogenicity. We aimed to assess the best possible dose and formulation, immunogenicity, and safety profile of this EV71 vaccine in healthy Chinese children.

Enterovirus 71 (EV71) is highly contagious and can cause severe complications. A safe and effective vaccine is needed. We assessed the reactogenicity and immunogenicity of an inactivated, alum-adjuvanted EV71 vaccine in this study.

Finding a uniform method to evaluate plant-available potassium (K) in a variety of soils has been a challenge. In this study, the sodium tetraphenylboron (NaBPh4) method was modified and compared with the conventional ammonium acetate (NH4OAc) method to evaluate K availability to perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenneL.) in soils with different K fertilities. The amount of K extracted using NaBPh4was influenced by extraction time and concentrations of NaCl and NaBPh4. Without NaCl, the NaBPh4method with low concentrations of NaBPh4(0.001 and 0.003 mol L−1) could only extract soluble and exchangeable soil K, equivalent to three sequential extractions using the NH4OAc method, whereas the NaBPh4method with a high NaBPh4concentration (0.2 mol L−1) could extract all the NH4OAc-extractable K and some easily released nonexchangeable K (NEK) in soils. Easily released NEK contributed significantly to K uptake by ryegrass. Soil K availability estimated using the 60-min (r2= 0.83-0.92) and 120-min (r2= 0.84-0.94) modified NaBPh4methods correlated well to the K removed by one to eight crops of ryegrass. The 60-min modified NaBPh4method without NaCl (0.2 mol L−1NaBPh4+ 0.01 mol L−1EDTA) was suitable for evaluating K availability to plants in a variety of soils, whereas the NH4OAc method was only suitable for evaluating K availability in soils of the same type or with similar K-buffering capacities, but not in soils with variable K buffer capacities or in which the NEK contribution to plant K uptake varied.

Four-thousand women aged 18–40 underwent an early induced abortion at hospitals and family planning clinics in six counties in Sichuan province, China, between 1 July 1990 and 30 June 1991. The subjects were followed-up three times, on days 15, 90 and 180 after the operation. Information was obtained about their age, parity, contraceptive use, social behaviors, and gynecological and psychological characteristics before and after the abortion. The results indicate that induced abortion is safe when provided by medically trained personnel in health facilities such as hospitals or clinics. Depressive symptomatology was assessed by the CES-D and SCL-90 scales. The depressive symptoms declined over time. A substantial proportion of the abortions were to unmarried women or resulted from non-use of contraception or contraceptive failure, implying that the incidence o f unintended pregnancies and induced abortions could be reduced by more effective and accessible contraception.

Introduction:Extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL) is an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma,which is relatively more common in Asia and Latin America.Radiation therapy(RT) is widely administered for patients with localized nasal disease. However, local and systemic failures are observed frequently in patients who receive RT alone.Therefore, chemotherapy is needed in combination with RT to reduce the risk of recurrence. The patients with newly diagnosed stage III/IV ENKTL were rare and their prognosis was poorer.Chemotherapy was the major therapeutic tool for them.However,the optimal chemotherapy regimen for this disease has not been fully defined. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to prospectively evaluate efficacy and safety of GEP Regimen (Gemcitabine, Etopie and Pegaspargase ) in patients with newly diagnosed ENKTL(ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT02705508).
