Metformin and the sulfonylureas are common initial antidiabetic agents; the former has demonstrated anti-TB action in in vitro and animal studies. The comparative effect of metformin vs the sulfonylureas on TB risk in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remains unclear.

Statins are widely used to lower cholesterol levels and cardiovascular risk. Further, studies have shown that statins may decrease the risks of infectious diseases and infection-related mortality; however, the association between statin use and active TB disease remains unclear.

Matched case-control data have a structure that is similar to longitudinal data with correlated outcomes, except for a retrospective sampling scheme. In conditional logistic regression analysis, sets that are incomplete due to missing covariates and sets with identical values of the covariates do not contribute to the estimation; both situations may cause a loss in efficiency. These problems are more severe when sample sizes are small. We evaluated retrospective models for longitudinal data as alternatives in analyzing matched case-control data.

In this paper, we propose an approach to support QoS for multimedia applications in ad hoc wireless network. An ad hoc network is a collection of mobile stations forming a temporary network without the aid of any centralized coordinator and is different from cellular networks which require fixed base stations interconnected by a wired backbone. It is useful for some special situations, such as battlefield communications and disaster recovery. The approach we provide uses CSMA/CA medium access protocol and additional reservation and control mechanisms to guarantee quality of service in ad hoc network system. The reason we choose CSMA protocol instead of other MAC protocols is that it is used in most of currently wireless LAN productions. Via QoS routing information and reservation scheme, network resources are dynamically allocated to individual multimedia application connections.
