We report the case of an acute cerebellitis following COVID-19 in 32-year-old man who presented with a life-threatening critical cerebellar syndrome contrasting with normal paraclinical findings. Despite this fulminant critical presentation, the patient fully recovered in 37 days after early treatment with high-dose steroids and intravenous immunoglobulins. This case highlights the need for clinicians to be aware of acute cerebellitis following COVID-19, despite normal laboratory, imaging and electroencephalography findings and the importance to start appropriate treatment as soon as possible.

In large and stratified lakes, substantial methane stocks are often observed within the metalimnion. The origin of the methane (CH4) accumulated in the metalimnion during stratification, which can sustain significant emissions during convective mixing, is still widely debated. While commonly attributed to the transport of methane produced anaerobically ex situ, recent evidence suggests that oxic in situ methane production could also contribute to metalimnetic methane peaks. Here, we assessed the origin, that is, pelagic CH4production or transport of sublittoral CH4through the interflow, of metalimnetic methane in Lake Geneva, the largest lake in Western Europe. Microbial diversity data do not support the hypothesis of oxic methane production in the metalimnion. In contrast, both spatial and temporal surveys of methane show that maxima occur at depths and sites most affected by the Rhône River inflow. Methane δ13C values point to an anaerobic sublittoral methane source, within a biogeochemical hotspot close to the river delta region, and an efficient transport across several kilometers in a vertically well‐constrained metalimnion. Our current findings emphasize the indirect role of river interflows for the long‐range transport of CH4produced in sediment biogeochemical hotspots, even for large lakes where sublittoral habitats represent a fairly limited fraction of the lake volume.

C’est une chirurgie rare mais impactante, avec des conséquences bio-psycho-sociales importantes. Pour améliorer la qualité de prise en charge, certains pays l’ont centralisé. En France, il n’y a pas de données chirurgicales démographiques récentes. Cette étude fournit une analyse exhaustive des pénectomies partielles et totales réalisées en France de 2019 à 2022.

The aggravation of socio-environmental problems, combined with the projection of high production and consumption patterns, instigates studies related to social innovation as an alternative to new sustainable development standards. More studies are required concerning the flow of social innovation in agriculture and food production worldwide. Therefore, this study presents the insertion of social innovation in food production through a bibliometric analysis of the Web of Scienceand Scopusdatabases. The papers were classified based on the approach - top-down or bottom-up - used for social innovation. Italy appears to be the country with the most significant amount of studies, and all bottom-up cases have developed new social reconfigurations, but not all have improved the quality of life of the local population. Supported by public policies, initiatives that do not reinforce patterns of exclusion have a good chance of being solutions that enable sustainable territorial development.

Power components such as High Electron Mobility Transistors (HEMTs) are used for high power and high frequency applications. These tend to overheat and destroy their packaging and connections to the wire bondings. This paper presents planar micro-thermoelectric sensors ( $\mu $ TESs) developed to measure partial heat flow dissipated by the HEMTs to avoid the HEMTs from reaching critical temperatures. These sensors use the same active materials as well as the same fabrication process as the HEMTs, enabling them to be fabricated simultaneously for a simple integration. The HEMTs’ active layers consist in AlGaN/GaN heterostructures resulting in the formation of a 2D Electron Gas (2DEG) at the interface. Tension factors of 47 mV/(K.mm2) were obtained with these sensors and heat flows of 0.2 W to 7 W were measured.

IRC section 127's tax-favored treatment of employer-funded education assistance to employees was reinstated by the Small Business Job Protection Act of 1996, but limitations placed on the section will have implications for graduate study and tuition waiver programs. Employers and employees will only receive favorable tax treatment for graduate programs begun after June 1996 if the program is job-related. Infertility represents a growing burden worldwide, with one in seven couples presenting difficulties conceiving. Among these, 10–15% of the men have idiopathic infertility that does not correlate with any defect in the classical sperm parameters measured. In the present study, we used a mouse model to investigate the effects of maternal undernutrition on fertility in male progeny. Our results indicate that mothers fed on a low-protein diet during gestation and lactation produce male offspring with normal sperm morphology, concentration, and motility but exhibiting an overall decrease of fertility when they reach adulthood. Particularly, in contrast to control, sperm from these offspring show a remarkable lower capacity to fertilize oocytes when copulation occurs early in the estrus cycle relative to ovulation, due to an altered sperm capacitation. Our data demonstrate for the first time that maternal nutritional stress can have long-term consequences on the reproductive health of male progeny by affecting sperm physiology, especially capacitation, with no observable impact on spermatogenesis and classical quantitative and qualitative sperm parameters. S corporations can terminate their S corporation tax status under IRC section 1361(b) in many ways such as having too many stockholders, creating a second class of stock and joining an affiliated group. However, the IRS may grant permission to regain the status if the termination was inadvertent, outside of the stockholders' control and not motivated by tax avoidance or retroactive tax planning. Normally, a terminated status cannot be regained until after five taxable years, but if a corporation corrects the event in a timely manner and agrees to IRS required adjustments, a waiver may be attained.

Shiflett reported results to support the use of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (M-BTI) scales as surrogates for the assessment of brain dominance. The M-BTI scales were compared to the Left and Right Dominance Scales of the Human Information Processing Survey (HIP-S). The current research employing the same instruments with 554 college students, both confirmed Shiflett's findings and yielded results contrary to those of the Shiflett study. Specifically the association between M-BTI Intuition and both HIP-S Right and Left scales was in the opposite direction, with more intuitive types being more Right and less Left dominant in the current study. Shiflett also reported a reverse finding to those obtained with regard to the M-BTI Perception scale. In the current study, perceptive types were found to be more Right and less Left dominant. Finally, Shiflett reported that sex moderated the relationships among many of the HIP-S and M-BTI variables. The current study only found one significant difference between males and females among the correlations for these variables.

La détection du CaP a été révolutionnée par l’IRMmp et les biopsies prostatiques (BP) ciblées. Les BP systématisées sont un sujet débattu. Les critères secondaires anatomopathologiques des BP comme l’engainement péri-nerveux (EPN), déjà controversés, ont encore perdu de l’importance. L’objectif était d’évaluer l’impact de l’EPN sur BP ciblées et systématisées hors cible sur les résultats opératoires et notamment sur le risque d’extension extra-capsulaire (EEC).

Le nombre de sujets âgés en attente d’une transplantation rénale (TR) augmente significativement chaque année. À notre connaissance, les données sur les complications chirurgicales postopératoires (CPO) chez les patients âgés transplantés rénaux demeurent peu nombreuses. L’objectif de cette étude était de décrire les CPO chez les sujets âgés ayant eu une TR et de les comparer avec celles des patients plus jeunes.

The export of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) from catchments is considered as an important energy flux through streams and a major connection between terrestrial and aquatic systems. However, the impact that predicted hydrological changes due to glacier retreat and reduction in snow cover changes will have on DOC export from high‐mountain streams remains unclear. In this study, we measured daily runoff and DOC yield during 1 year in Alpine streams draining catchments with different levels of glacier coverage. DOC yield showed a varied response to runoff across the catchments and varied seasonally as a function of the degree of glaciation and vegetation cover. Using space‐for‐time substitution, our results indicate that the controls on DOC yield from Alpine catchments change from chemostasis to transport limitation as glaciers shrink. Mountain glaciers are shrinking owing to climate change. Despite this unprecedented environmental change, the consequences for downstream biogeochemistry are poorly understood at present. We measured every 10 min during 1 year the concentration of dissolved organic carbon and discharge in 12 high‐alpine streams under various influences of shrinking glaciers. Our data suggest that the drivers of the export of dissolved organic carbon from the catchments shift from chemostasis to hydrological transport limitation as glaciers shrink. This finding is critical to better understand the carbon balance at catchment scale in the future of mountains without glaciers. The aim of this study is to distinguish genuine cosmic voids, found in a galaxy catalog by the void finder ZOBOV–VIDE, from under-dense regions in a Poisson distribution of objects. For this purpose, we perform two multivariate analyses using the following physical void characteristics: volume, redshift, density contrast, minimum density, contrast significance and number of member galaxies of the void. The multivariate analyses are trained on a catalog of voids obtained from a random Poisson distribution of points, used as background, and a catalog of voids identified in a mock galaxy catalog, used as signal. The classifications are then applied to voids extracted from the Data Release 12 sample of Luminous Red Galaxies in the redshift range 0.45 ≤z ≤0.7 from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (SDSS BOSS DR12 CMASS). Our results show that the resulting void catalog is nearly free of contamination by Poisson noise. We also study the effect of tracer sparsity and bias on the classification efficiencies.

Il est actuellement recommandé de traiter les calculs ne pouvant être extraits directement en urétéroscopie souple en utilisant un laser. Le laser Holmium : YAG (Ho : YAG) était le laser de référence mais depuis quelques années le Thulium fibré (TFL) s’est démocratisé et commence à s’imposer avec l’avantage d’un traitement plus rapide. L’objectif de notre étude était de comparer la vitesse de pulvérisation du TFL et de l’Ho : YAG en pratique courante.

La détection du cancer de prostate (CaP) a été révolutionnée par l’avènement de l’imagerie par rayonnance magnétique (IRM) multiparamétrique et des biopsies prostatiques ciblées. Certains auteurs prônent alors l’abandon des biopsies randomisées. Les critères secondaires anatomopathologiques comme l’engainement péri-nerveux (EPN), déjà controversés, ont encore perdu de l’importance. L’objectif était d’évaluer l’impact de l’EPN sur biopsies avec fusion échographie-IRM, sur les résultats opératoires et notamment sur le risque d’extension extra-capsulaire (EEC), pour le CaP de risque faible ou intermédiaire. Les dossiers des patients ayant eu des biopsies avec fusion Échographie-IRM, puis une prostatectomie Totale ont été étudiés, de manière monocentrique et rétrospective sur six ans. Les patients étaient classés en deux groupes selon la présence ou non d’EPN sur les biopsies. Le critère de jugement principal était l’association entre l’EPN sur BP et l’EEC sur pièce de prostatectomie. 187 patients ont été inclus, 93 présentaient un EPN sur les biopsies. Il n’y avait pas de différence significative sur les caractéristiques de base des deux groupes. Avec 42 % de maladie extra-prostatique (pT3), l’EPN était associé à une augmentation du risque d’EEC en analyse univariée et multivariée. La présence de l’EPN sur les biopsies randomisées uniquement semblait même mieux prédire le risque d’EEC en analyse univariée. À l’ère de l’IRM et des biopsies ciblées, l’étude des caractéristiques anatomopathologiques secondaires des biopsies, comme l’EPN, semble garder un intérêt pour mieux prédire le stade tumoral sur prostatectomie, afin de proposer aux patients une prise en charge adaptée.
