Objective To analyze the geographic variation in characteristics and treatment processes of patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in coastal, island, and inland regions.Methods We conducted a retrospective, cross-sectional analysis of data from patients with AIS in southeastern China. We collected demographic and clinical information, including the time from stroke onset to treatment for those receiving reperfusion therapy, using a time-tracking table.Results Among 8069 patients with AIS, 26.6% received reperfusion therapy, with a higher proportion undergoing endovascular therapy in maritime hospitals than in inland hospitals (14.2% vs. 6.7%). Maritime hospitals had a higher prevalence of atrial fibrillation (15.1% vs. 11.9%) and cardioembolism (17.2% vs. 13.6%) than inland hospitals. Patients in maritime hospitals had shorter in-hospital processing times than those in inland hospitals (39 vs. 46 minutes). Island hospitals showed different patterns, with a shorter time from stroke onset to emergency room arrival (80 vs. 120 minutes) but a longer in-hospital process time (51 vs. 36 minutes), than coastline hospitals.Conclusions Our study suggests geographic variation in AIS characteristics and treatment processes across southeastern China, emphasizing the need for region-specific strategies. These findings are essential for tailoring public health policies and guidelines to improve stroke outcomes in various regions.

Maternal embryo leucine zipper kinase (MELK) is a serine/threonine kinase and is highly expressed in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). This study aimed to develop a 18F-radiolabeled tracer based on the structure of a small-molecule MELK inhibitor OTSSP167 and evaluate its application for PET imaging of MELK expression in TNBC. OTSSP167 was modified with ethylene glycol to adjust its pharmacokinetics and was then radiolabeled with 18F to obtain [18F]F-ET-OTSSP167 at a labeling yield of 7.14 ± 2.19% and a molar activity of 16.23 ± 1.13 MBq/nmol. In vitrobinding assays showed differentiated binding affinities of [18F]F-ET-OTSSP167 in different breast cancer cell lines, with high uptake in MDA-MB-231 (mild MELK expression) and low uptake in MCF-7 (negative MELK expression). PET imaging revealed that MDA-MB-231 tumors could be clearly delineated in vivo, while low tracer uptake was observed in MCF-7 tumors. These findings were confirmed by ex vivobiodistribution studies and were consistent with the immunohistochemistry and tissue staining results. Tracer accumulation in MDA-MB-231 tumors was significantly inhibited by excess amounts of OTSSP167, indicating high specificity of the tracer. In summary, [18F]F-ET-OTSSP167, an easily-prepared probe, can be used to visualize MELK positive tumors, demonstrating its promising clinical potential in selecting patients for MELK inhibitor therapy.

Stretchability and compressibility are essential features for next-generation flexible energy storage devices. Most previous studies on stretchable and compressible energy storage devices have focused on supercapacitors, whereas the intrinsically stretchable and compressible batteries are rarely reported for the lack of a stretchable and compressible high-performance electrolyte as well as highly conductive flexible electrodes. Here, a new type of intrinsically stretchable and compressible battery is fabricated for the first time, by employing a sodium polyacrylate (PANa) hydrogel as electrolyte, and nickel cobalt hydroxide and zinc nanosheets deposited on Au@CNT papers as electrodes. The newly developed battery can be intrinsically stretched up to 400% strain (capacity enhanced) and compressed to 50% strain (capacity well retained). After being stretched for 500 cycles and compressed for 1500 cycles, the battery is able to deliver 87% and 97% of its initial capacity, respectively.

Zn-based aqueous rechargeable batteries are promising in portable electronics because of their high voltage, low cost, etc. However, most conventional aqueous electrolytes are liable to freeze at low temperature and are incompatible with high ion concentrations, which hinders their application. Herein, we developed a sodium polyacrylate hydrogel (PANa) to superabsorb highly concentrated ions. Unprecedentedly, the hydrogel electrolyte can be stretched over ten times at −50 °C without any freezing. Therefore, the fabricated rechargeable NiCo//Zn battery worked well in a wide-temperature-range (−20 to 50 °C). This work creates many opportunities for the development and practical application of aqueous batteries.

Yarn batteries are promising candidates in portable, flexible and wearable electronics due to its tiny volume, good flexibility and maximum compatibility with textile. However, the-state-of-the-art yarn battery using aqueous electrolyte cannot fulfill the requirement of working normally in extreme weather conditions, such as harsh winters and searing summers. In this research, a quasi-solid-state iongel electrolyte with a high ionic conductivity of 0.016 S cm−1was synthesized by polymerizing 1-vinyl-3-ethylimidazolium dicyanamide ([Veim][DCA]) and N, N′-methylenebisacrylamide (NNMBA) in zinc acetate (Zn(CH3COO)2) dissolved 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium dicyanamide ([Emim][DCA]). A flexible zinc//manganese-dioxide (Zn//MnO2) yarn battery based on this iongel delivers high volumetric capacity of 2.4 mAh cm−3and length/areal/volumetric energy density of 0.0075 mWh cm−1/0.03 mWh cm−2/2.0 mWh cm−3at 0 °C, all of which are higher than values of many previously reported devices at room temperature so far. Moreover, compared with these at 0 °C, the volumetric capacity and length/areal/volumetric energy density of the battery get 1.4- and 1.4-fold enhancement when temperature rises to 25 °C, and 1.9- and 2.1-fold enhancement at 60 °C, respectively. This research indicates that our yarn battery is suitable for harsh winters and searing summers, laying a solid foundation for the universal application of wearable electronics.

A 2.4 V high-voltage flexible aqueous ZIB was fabricated, and superiors performances were achieved: extremely flat charging/discharging voltage plateaus (1.9/1.8 V), the smallest plateau voltage gap of 0.1 V, high energy density of 120 Wh kg-1, high power density of 3700 W kg-1, and excellent rate capability of 25 C.The battery posed application potential in wearable electronics with extreme safety against tough destructions including hammering, sewing, punching, and soaking.

Highly flexible direct ethanol fuel cells (DEFC) are a promising next frontier of energy conversion devices that will change the pattern of current flexible electronics. However, the major difficulties such as ethanol-crossover-induced catalyst poisoning and harsh conditions, limit the development of such devices. Here, we report for the first time a flexible drop-and-play DEFC that addresses all these difficulties via using a highly active oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) electrocatalyst which cannot be poisoned by ethanol, together with a superior alkali-compatible and ion-conductive hydrogel electrolyte. The fabricated flexible DEFC shows high performances of 21.48 mW cm−2power density and 1.41 mWh cm−2energy density at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. Moreover, it possesses excellent flexibility and unique drop-and-play function, easily powering an electronic clock and a smart phone. Such high-performance flexible DEFC with drop-and-play function opens up many new opportunities for next-generation flexible electronics.

Achieving high voltage and safety simultaneously in energy storage devices can greatly advance the development of flexible and wearable electronics. Thus, flexible aqueous asymmetric lithium‐ion supercapacitors with a high voltage attract the interest of many researchers. Herein, a new flexible aqueous asymmetric lithium‐ion supercapacitor with a high voltage and superior safety is fabricated using manganese oxide and iron hydroxide, which are electrodeposited on carbon cloths as electrodes and a super‐concentrated gel polymer as the electrolyte. Impressively, the flexible asymmetric lithium‐ion supercapacitor delivers a high voltage of 3.2 V, which is a high value in aqueous asymmetric supercapacitors. Moreover, the asymmetric supercapacitor exhibits a specific capacitance of 227.6 F g−1, a maximum energy density of 49.3 Wh kg−1, and a maximum power density of 11.5 kW kg−1, together with a capacitance retention of 82% after 1000 cycles at a current density of 2 A g−1. Importantly, the supercapacitor can keep good electrochemical performance under extremely harsh conditions, such as compressing, hammering, punching, and tailoring, which demonstrates superior safety. An aqueous lithium‐ion asymmetric supercapacitor with a high voltage, good flexibility, and superior safety is fabricated using manganese oxide and iron hydroxide as electrodes and a super‐concentrated gel polymer as the electrolyte. The single supercapacitor exhibits a high voltage of 3.2 V and keeps good electrochemical performance under severe conditions, including hammering, loading, punching, and tailoring.
