Techniques for dimensionality reduction have attracted much attention in computer vision and pattern recognition. However, for the supervised or unsupervised case, the methods combining regression analysis and spectral graph analysis do not consider the global structure of the subspace; For semi‐supervised case, how to use the unlabeled samples more effectively is still an open problem. In this paper, we propose the methods by Low‐rank regression analysis (LRRA) to deal with these problems. For supervised or unsupervised dimensionality reduction, combining spectral graph analysis and LRRA can make a global constraint on the subspace. For semi‐supervised dimensionality reduction, the proposed method incorporating LRRA can exploit the unlabeled samples more effectively. The experimental results show the effectiveness of our methods.

Purpose: Asphalt mixture is widely used in road engineering, and its performance research is particularly important. But the study of asphalt mixture performance needs a lot of tests, such as bending test, splitting test and so on. It also needs a lot of time and material resources. The purpose of this paper is to obtain test results through finite element numerical simulation, and show that this saves a lot of manpower and material resources. Design/methodology/approach: The mechanical parameters of the material are obtained through uniaxial compression tests. The true stress and plastic strain are calculated according to nominal stress and nominal strain. A constitutive model is established. Then a finite element model of asphalt mixture is established. The numerical simulation and performance study of asphalt mixture bending test is carried out. At the same time, according to the above method, the asphalt mixture is subjected to freeze-thaw cycles and ultraviolet aging, and the mechanical parameters are obtained by a uniaxial compression test. A numerical model is established to simulate the bending characteristics of asphalt mixture after freeze-thaw cycles and ultraviolet aging. Findings: A uniaxial compression test of the asphalt mixture is conducted to obtain nominal stress and nominal strain. The true stress and plastic strain are calculated and the elastic modulus is established with Poisson’s ratio as the elastic part, and the true stress and plastic strain as the plastic part. The model is constructed, the finite element model is established and the bending test is numerically simulated. The verified trend is consistent, and the method is feasible. According to the above method, the concrete is subjected to freeze-thaw cycle and ultraviolet aging, and the finite element model is established by using uniaxial compression test to obtain parameters. The bending test is simulated and the verification method is feasible. With the increase of the number of freeze-thaw cycles and the increase of UV aging time, the maximum bending strain of SBS modified asphalt mixture and matrix asphalt mixture is decreased .The low-temperature performance of SBS modified asphalt mixture is better than that of matrix asphalt mixture. Originality/value: A method of simulating asphalt mixture test by finite element method numerical simulation is established. By using this method, the performance of asphalt mixture is studied, which saves a lot of manpower and material resources. At the same time, this method can be used to study the characteristics of asphalt mixture under complex conditions.

Much of semiarid western North America is salt affected, and using turfgrasses in salty areas can be challenging. Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.) is relatively susceptible to salt stress, showing reduced growth, osmotic and ionic stress, and eventual death at moderate or high salt concentrations. Considerable variation exists for salt tolerance among kentucky bluegrass germplasm, but gaining consistency among studies and entries has been a challenge. In this study, two novel kentucky bluegrass accessions recently reported as salt tolerant (PI 371768 and PI 440603) and two cultivars commonly used as references (Baron and Midnight) were compared for their turf quality (TQ), stomatal conductance (gs), leaf water potential (ψLEAF), electrolyte leakage (EL), and accumulation of inorganic ions under salt stress. TQ, ψLEAF, and EL were highly correlated with each other while only moderately correlated with gs. The tolerant accessions showed higher ψ LEAF and lower EL than the cultivars Midnight and Baron at increasing salt concentrations and over 28 days of treatment. The accumulation of sodium (Na) and calcium (Ca) in the leaves was highly correlated and did not vary significantly among the four entries. Genes involved in ion transport across membranes, and in antioxidant activities, were significantly induced on salt stress in the tolerant accessions relative to the susceptible. These data indicate the ability of tolerant accessions to ameliorate oxidative stress and prevent EL, and confirmed the tolerance of germplasm previously reported on while indicating mechanisms by which they tolerate the salt stress. The article deals with the specifics and national-cultural identity of the functioning of punctuation marks in texts in Russian and Chinese languages. An overview and comparative analysis of the functioning of punctuation marks at the end of a sentence in texts of various stylistic trends described in the linguistic literature of China and Russia, were made. Due to the change of the leading paradigm in linguistics, a language speaking personality (in this case a foreign student creating texts in the Russian language) becomes the centre of research. Success in learning a foreign language (in this case Russian) is largely due to the knowledge and account of the features of the mother tongue. The selection of the tested material is determined by the fact that the mother tongue of students from the Asia-Pacific region (from China in particular) greatly influences their punctuation marks in texts. This determines the need to study the punctuation rules and regulations of the native (in this case Chinese) language. The description of punctuation marks made in students’ texts (on the example of punctuation mark function at the end of a sentence) in the foreign (Russian) language significantly complements and enriches the picture of punctuation functioning in the Russian language and the languages of the Asia-Pacific region. The article describes and analyzes the texts of various stylistic trends created by TPU students; it also contains conclusions concerning the specificity of punctuation marks functioning at the end of a sentence.

The involvement of unfolded protein response (UPR) activation in tumor survival and resistance to chemotherapies suggests a new anticancer strategy targeting UPR pathway. Arctigenin, a natural product, has been recently identified for its antitumor activity with selective toxicity against cancer cells under glucose starvation with unknown mechanism. Here we found that arctigenin specifically blocks the transcriptional induction of two potential anticancer targets, namely glucose-regulated protein-78 (GRP78) and its analog GRP94, under glucose deprivation, but not by tunicamycin. The activation of other UPR pathways, e.g., XBP-1 and ATF4, by glucose deprivation was also suppressed by arctigenin. A further transgene experiment showed that ectopic expression of GRP78 at least partially rescued arctigenin/glucose starvation-mediated cell growth inhibition, suggesting the causal role of UPR suppression in arctigenin-mediated cytotoxicity under glucose starvation. These observations bring a new insight into the mechanism of action of arctigenin and may lead to the design of new anticancer therapeutics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ultrafine powders of Fe3O4have been synthesized in different ways: hydrothermal air oxidation crystallization, high-temperature roasting decomposition, and supercritical fluid drying methods. These powders are characterized by atomic force microscopy and the results show that ultrafine Fe3O4powders prepared in different ways exhibit different microstructures and different morphologies on the micrometer scale.
