Transient Bartter syndrome related to pathogenic variants of MAGED2is the most recently described antenatal Bartter syndrome. Despite its transient nature, it is the most severe form of Bartter syndrome in the perinatal period. Our aim was to describe 14 new cases and to try to explain the incomplete penetrance in women.

Cracks and defects in construction materials can cause an increase in their moisture permeability, and accentuate their degradation. In order to accurately assess the durability and the overall performance of building facades, one must dispose of a reliable method for the identification of the damage state of such materials. The present work aims at developing a methodology for the detection and monitoring of damage and fractures in building materials. Digital image correlation and acoustic emission monitoring were simultaneously performed during tensile loading tests of fibre-reinforced mortar samples. The optical technique was found able to reveal all ranges of cracks, from microscopic to macroscopic, and an image-processing procedure was conducted as to quantify their evolution in the course of the degradation of the samples. It was also found that the acoustic activity could be related to the optical measurements in terms of damage quantification and localisation.

Abstract: In this contribution, a single-node multi-GPU thermal lattice Boltzmann solver is presented. We implement a simplified version of the hybrid model developed by Lallemand and Luo in 2003, which combines multiple-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann for the fluid flow with a finite-difference method for temperature. The program is based on the TheLMA framework which was developed for that purpose. The chosen implementation and optimisation strategies are described, both for inter-GPU communication and for coupling with the thermal component of the model. Abstract: In this paper, we consider the implementation of a thermal flow solver based on the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) for graphics processing units (GPUs). We first describe the hybrid thermal LBM model implemented, and give a concise review of the CUDA technology. The specific issues that arise with LBM on GPUs are outlined. We propose an approach for efficient handling of the thermal part. Performance is close to optimum and is significantly better than the one of comparable CPU solvers. We validate our code by simulating the differentially heated cubic cavity (DHC). The computed results for steady flow patterns are in good agreement with previously published ones. Finally, we use our solver to study the phenomenology of transitional flows in the DHC. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
