A two-dimensional threefold interpenetrated uranium-organic framework (UOF) has been synthesized by the solvothermal method with a highly luminescent response of various molecules. The structure of the compound is characterized by the single-crystal X-ray diffraction, [C27H17O11U] [C2H6N]·DMF·2H2O·(UTCPB), with a six-coordinated uranyl cation, further proved by the IR, TG and others tests. To explore the functional properties, photoluminescent, dye adsorption, and metal detecting properties have been also studied and discussed initially. The results showed that the compound exhibited some features in dye adsorption (RhB) and Ru3+detection.

The endophytic fungus Guignardia mangiferae isolated from Ilex cornuta leaves was shown to produce a family of meroterpenes with toll-like receptor 3 regulating activity (1-9), of which 1-3 possessed new structures. The absolute stereochemistry of 1-3 was assigned through a combination of nuclear magnetic resonance experiments, chemical derivation, CD spectra, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses (CuKα). The precursor labeled cultivation suggests that these meroterpenes are most likely assembled through terpenoid-shikimate pathways. Moreover, meroterpenes 1-3, 5-7, and 9 selectively upregulate, but 4 and 8 downregulate the toll-like receptor 3 expression in mouse dendritic cells at 10.0 µM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This report describes the assignment of the nature and number of solvent molecules in the refinement of several solvated crystal structures without a prior knowledge of the solvent system used for crystallization for the cases when the solvent molecule cannot be properly modeled.
