High pH-SCC introduces great risks to the service safety of X100 pipeline steel. The design of new Nb and RE composite regulated pipeline steel can help to reduce the high pH-SCC. By the addition of Nb and Ce elements into traditional pipeline steel, the toughness of the pipeline steel was enhanced while the sensitivity of high pH-SCC decreased under the action of cathode potential. Mechanism research indicated that the increase of Nb element inhibited the cathodic hydrogen evolution reaction and increased the number of irreversible hydrogen traps in the steel, thus improving the resistance of pipeline steel to high pH-SCC. The addition of Ce element inhibited the anodic dissolution and cathodic hydrogen evolution processes, and reduced the high pH-SCC sensitivity of pipeline steel by changing the solution and precipitation of Nb.

Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET)-based homogeneous immunoassay obviates tedious washing steps and thus is a promising approach for immunoassays. However, a conventional FRET-based homogeneous immunoassay operating in the visible region is not able to overcome the interference of complex biological samples, thus resulting in insufficient detection sensitivity and poor accuracy. Here, we develop a near-infrared (NIR)-to-NIR FRET platform (Ex = 808 nm, Em = 980 nm) that enables background-free high-throughput homogeneous quantification of various biomarkers in complex biological samples. This NIR-to-NIR FRET platform is portable and easy to operate and is mainly composed of a high-performance NIR-to-NIR FRET pair based on lanthanide-doped nanoparticles (LnNPs) and a custom-made microplate reader for readout of NIR luminescence signals. We demonstrate that this NIR-to-NIR FRET platform is versatile and robust, capable of realizing highly sensitive and accurate detection of various critical biomarkers, including small molecules (morphine and 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D), proteins (human chorionic gonadotropin), and viral particles (adenovirus) in unprocessed complex biological samples (urine, whole blood, and feces) within 5–10 min. We expect this NIR-to-NIR FRET platform to provide low-cost healthcare for populations living in resource-limited areas and be widely used in many other fields, such as food safety and environmental monitoring.

In recent years, it is urgent and challenging to fabricate highly sensitive and selective gas sensors for breath analyses. In this work, Sr-doped cubic In2O3/rhombohedral In2O3homojunction nanowires (NWs) are synthesized by one-step electrospun technology. The Sr doping alters the cubic phase of pure In2O3into the rhombohedral phase, which is verified by the high-resolution transmittance electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Raman spectroscopy, and is attributable to the low cohesive energy as calculated by the density functional theory (DFT). As a proof-of-concept of fatty liver biomarker sensing, ethanol sensors are fabricated using the electrospun In2O3NWs. The results show that 8 wt % Sr-doped In2O3shows the highest ethanol sensing performance with a high response of 21–1 ppm, a high selectivity over other interfering gases such as methanol, acetone, formaldehyde, toluene, xylene, and benzene, a high stability measured in 6 weeks, and also a high resistance to high humidity of 80%. The outstanding ethanol sensing performance is attributable to the enhanced ethanol adsorption by Sr doping as calculated by DFT, the stable rhombohedral phase and the preferred (104) facet exposure, and the formed homojunctions favoring the electron transfer. All these results show the effective structural modification of In2O3by Sr doping, and also the great potency of the homojunction Sr-doped In2O3NWs for highly sensitive, selective, and stable breath ethanol sensing.

FeMnAlC low-density steel (LDS) is considered to be a promising material due to its good mechanical properties and light weight, its corrosion resistance, however, needs to be improved. In this paper, the effect of Cr and Ni on the electrochemical and early corrosion behavior of a Fe–25Mn–10Al-1.5C LDS in a 3.5% NaCl solution was studied through microstructure characterization, electrochemical tests and immersion tests. The results showed that Cr and Ni alloying reduced the austenite grain size and promoted the formation of the B2 phase. Adding 2% Cr or Ni to the Fe–25Mn–10Al-1.5C LDS clearly inhibited the electrochemical activity and initial micro galvanic effect between the second phases and the austenite. Moreover, the properties of the corrosion product film were optimized, and the local corrosion process beneath the product film was mitigated. Compared with 2% Cr addition, 2% Ni addition improved the corrosion resistance of the FeMnAlC LDS better from the aspects of electrochemistry, corrosion product film and corrosion mode.

3D hierarchical conductive Sn quantum dots encapsulated in N,S co-doped carbon nanofibers sheathed within rGO scrolls (Sn/NS-CNFs@rGO) were prepared through an electrospinning process.Flexible Sn/NS-CNFs@rGO electrode exhibits superior long-term cycling stability and high-rate capability in sodium-ion batteries.
