Vibration control as applied to large space structures is the subject or this study. A number of computational issues have to be resolved before integrating the disciplines of optimal structural design and modern control theory. Control of free-free structures and the effects of model order reduction are the two issues addressed in this paper. Results are presented for a two dimensional truss structure.

Abstract: A survey was made of the types of renal allotopia in children, based on 5250 urographic examinations. The X-ray anatomy of allotopic kidney and the clinical symptoms of the conditions were discussed. The diagnostic value of individual X-ray techniques was critically appraised and the merits of renal angiography were stressed in terms of both diagnostics and the selection of appropriate surgical procedure. The inadequate terminology of allotopically displaced kidney was discussed.

A survey was conducted among veterinary practitioners in the UK and the USA in 2012/2013. Thematic analysis was used to identify underlying reasons behind answers to questions about the importance of communication skills and the desire to participate in postgraduate communication skills training. Lack of training among more experienced veterinary surgeons, incomplete preparation of younger practitioners and differences in ability to communicate all contribute to gaps in communication competency. Barriers to participating in further communication training include time, cost and doubts in the ability of training to provide value. To help enhance communication ability, communication skills should be assessed in veterinary school applicants, and communication skills training should be more thoroughly integrated into veterinary curricula. Continuing education/professional development in communication should be part of all postgraduate education and should be targeted to learning style preferences and communication needs and challenges through an entire career in practice.

The present observations were undertaken to establish the response of infants to the chronic alkali loading for the interpretation of the abnormalities in the maintenance of acid-base homeostasis in renal tubular alkalosis.Twelve normal infants aged 3-12 months were studied before and during 5 days of NaHCO3administration, 157,0 mM/1,73 m2/day. The blood acid-base parameters during alkalization showed the mild compensated metabolic alkalosis. Fractional Na reabsorption/TNa/FNa/providing the indirect evaluation of the degree of ECF volum expansion remained unchanged during the alkali loading period. Urinary pH values increased to 7,278 ± 0,202 concomitantly with the increase of the mean fractional HCO3-excretion FEHCO3-. The changes of the means of fractional HCO3-reabsorption from the control values ? THCO3-/? FHCO3-were 95,1% in the first day and decreased to 69,9 and 65,2% in the 3th and 5th loading day resp. The renal excretion of H+in both forms as TA and NH4+decreased during alkali loading from the mean control value of 119,5±21,9 to 56,8±12,5 uM/Ccr.100. The renal acid-base parameters interacted with the urinary excretion of the citric acid cycle intermediate a-ketoglutarate. Ua&GV varied inversely with the UH+V. The index of the mean values of aKGV/UH+V rosed from 0,39 ± 0,12 in control to 2,80 ± 0,25% in alkali loading period.The presented results showed the measure of the normal efficiency with which the kidney protected the organism against accumulation of excess base during chronic NaHCO3administration in infants.

Serum calcium and renal excretion of calcium were measured in 29 normal infants on artificial feeding aged 3-12 months. They were studied before and during 5 days of ammonium chloride /15 infants/ or sodium bicarbonate administration /14 infants/. During the acid load the serum calcium increased and was followed on the 3rd day with significant elevation of the renal calcium excretion as well of calcium clearance. After sodium bicarbonate load in infants serum calcium did not differ from the control values, while the, renal calcium excretion and calcium clearance significantly decreased. The evidence presented is consistent with the observation of the close relationship between the acid-base homeostasis and the renal excretion of calcium.

In 15 normal infants on artificial feeding, aged 3-12 months, the renal excretion of inorganic phosphate /P/ and sodium /Na/ has been measured before and during 5 days of ammonium chloride administration. During acid load in infants the urinary P to creatinine ratio /UPV/UCrV/ and P to creatinine clearance ratio /CP/CCr/ increased and showed significant correlation with the accompanied increase of urinary in to creatinine ratio /UNa/UCrV/ and Na to creatinine clearance ratio /CNa/CCr/ respectively. The renal excretion of P varied independently on blood pCO2or urinary pH. In contrast, there was the close negative correlation between these acid-base parameters and the renal excretion of Na. The finding of interdependence of renal excretion of P and Na in infants during ammonium chloride load is compatible with the view that this effect could be mediated electrostatically and may be at least partly controlled by the action of parthormone.
