High-speed signal transmission channels composed of high-speed connector and printed circuit boards (PCBs) are widely used in electronic systems, and its electromagnetic characteristics directly affect the signal integrity of entire transmission link. In the present work, the influence of the states of the conductors distributed around the tested channel in high-speed connector on electromagnetic measurement was investigated from the perspectives of both theoretical model and experimental testing. When the states of the adjacent conductors are different, corresponding electromagnetic field models for the tested high-speed channel were developed respectively based on their size and material parameters. In addition, distributed parameter circuit models for the different states were also developed to analyze the influence mechanism. The results obtained from electromagnetic field models are in good agreement with those obtained from circuit models. The theoretical model analysis was validated through experimental testing. The states of the adjacent conductors in the connector are recommended during high-speed channel testing. The results of this investigation provide theoretical support for accurate measurement of electromagnetic characteristics for high-speed channels.
