Density-based clustering algorithms are known for their ability to detect irregular clusters, but they have limitations when it comes to dealing with clusters of varying densities. In this paper, we propose a new clustering algorithm called granule fusion density-based clustering with evidential reasoning (GFDC). The approach introduces the concept of sparse degree, which measures both the local density and global density of samples. The sparse degree of samples reflects the stability of samples. Moreover, a core-granule is composed of the neighborhood granule of a sample, of which the sparse degree is minimum in its neighborhood. Then, the core-granules are generated based on the sparse degree and are insensitive to clusters with varying densities. The core samples, which consist of samples in core-granules, are used to form initial clusters through fusion strategies. Additionally, an assignment method is developed from Dempster-Shafer theory to assign border samples and identify outliers. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of GFDC on extensive synthetic and real-world datasets. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most malignant tumors with a poor prognosis. The long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) has been found to have great potential as a prognostic biomarker or therapeutic target for cancer patients. However, the prognostic value and tumor immune infiltration of lncRNAs in HCC has yet to be fully elucidated. To identify prognostic biomarkers of lncRNA in HCC by integrated bioinformatics analysis and explore their functions and relationship with tumor immune infiltration. The prognostic risk assessment model for HCC was constructed by comprehensively using univariate/multivariate Cox regression analysis, Kaplan–Meier survival analysis, and the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression analysis. Subsequently, the accuracy, independence, and sensitivity of our model were evaluated, and a nomogram for individual prediction in the clinic was constructed. Tumor immune microenvironment (TIME), immune checkpoints, and human leukocyte antigen alleles were compared in high- and low-risk patients. Finally, the functions of our lncRNA signature were examined using Gene Ontology, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment analysis, and gene set enrichment analysis. A 6-lncRNA panel of HCC consisting of RHPN1-AS1, LINC01224, CTD-2510F5.4, RP1-228H13.5, LINC01011, and RP11-324I22.4 was eventually identified, and show good performance in predicting the survivals of patients with HCC and distinguishing the immunomodulation of TIME of high- and low-risk patients. Functional analysis also suggested that this 6-lncRNA panel may play an essential role in promoting tumor progression and immune regulation of TIME. In this study, 6 potential lncRNAs were identified as the prognostic biomarkers in HCC, and the regulatory mechanisms involved in HCC were initially explored.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a cardiovascular disease characterized by atherosclerosis, angiogenesis, thrombogenesis, inflammation, etc. Xintong granule (XTG) is considered a practical therapeutic strategy in China for CAD. Although its therapeutic role in CAD has been reported, the molecular mechanisms of XTG in CAD have not yet been explored.A network pharmacology approach including drug-likeness (DL) evaluation, oral bioavailability (OB) prediction, protein-protein interaction (PPI) network construction and analysis, and Gene Ontology term and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analyses was used to predict the active ingredients, potential targets, and molecular mechanisms of XTG associated with the treatment of CAD. Molecular docking analysis was performed to investigate the interactions between the active compounds and the underlying targets.Fifty-one active ingredients of XTG and 294 CAD-related targets were screened for analysis. Gene Ontology enrichment analysis showed that the therapeutic targets of XTG in CAD are mainly involved in blood circulation and vascular regulation. KEGG pathway analysis indicated that XTG intervenes in CAD mainly through the regulation of fluid shear stress and atherosclerosis, the AGE-RAGE signaling pathway in diabetic complications, and the relaxin signaling pathway. Molecular docking analysis showed that each key active ingredient (quercetin, luteolin, kaempferol, stigmasterol, resveratrol, fisetin, gamma-sitosterol, and beta-sitosterol) of XTG can bind to the core targets of CAD (AKT1, JUN, RELA, MAPK8, NFKB1, EDN1, and NOS3).The present study revealed the CAD treatment-related active ingredients, underlying targets, and potential molecular mechanisms of XTG acting by regulating fluid shear stress and atherosclerosis, AGE-RAGE signaling pathway in diabetic complications, and relaxin signaling pathway.

Abstract This paper describes a new species Eudinostigma longusWu etChen, collected from Hubei Province. The new species is characterized distinctly by the following features: rather long antenna, with 24 segments, notaulix distinct anteriorly, oval midpit deep, propodeum with a longitudinal medial carina and forked carina, areola absent, length of robust hind femur 3. 6 times its width, and length of petiole 1. 7 times its width. Type species is deposited in Beneficial Insects Laboratory, Fujian Agricultural University, Fuzhou, Fujian Province.

We discuss the potential pros and cons of using importation biological control against the soybean aphid, Aphis glycines Matsumura (Homoptera: Aphididae). Importation of exotic organisms for biological control is never completely risk-free, but the potential negative impacts of not achieving biological control of invasive pests may exceed the risks associated with a biological control introduction. The potential benefits of biological control include reduced insecticide use and a reduced ability of the invasive pest to impact native flora and fauna, and we outline what the scope of these benefits may be for the soybean aphid. The benefits are only accrued, however, if biological control is successful, so the likelihood of successful biological must also be assessed. Accordingly, we outline some issues relevant to predicting the success of importation biological control of the soybean aphid. We also outline the potential risks to nontarget organisms that would be associated with importation biological control of the soybean aphid. Currently, two parasitoid species, Aphelinus albipodus Hayat and Fatima (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) and Lipolexis gracilis Förster (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) have been imported from Asia and have passed through quarantine. We briefly review the biology and host range of these two species. A different strain of A. albipodus that was released against the Russian wheat aphid, Diuraphis noxia (Mordvilko) (Homoptera: Aphididae), in the early 1990s was also found to attack the soybean aphid in the laboratory and has been redistributed from Wyoming to Minnesota and Wisconsin in field releases against the soybean aphid. We discuss our rationale for going forward with this redistribution.

Since the discovery of the soybean aphid, Aphis glycines Matsumura, in North America in the summer of 2000, a great deal of interest has developed in the biology, ecology, and control of this insect in its native range of eastern Asia. Although there is a wealth of literature on A. glycines that could help guide the efforts of North American entomologists, much of it is written in Chinese. Here, we review the Chinese-language literature on the biology, ecology, natural enemies, and control of the soybean aphid in China.
