Abstract

The article offers information on acute suppurative thyroiditis (AST), a rare inflammatory complication in patients with hematological malignancy. It is said that the infection spreads to the thyroid from a distant site through the bloodstream or the lymphatics. It is cited that the treatment includes the administration of parenteral antibiotics, drainage and excision.
