Introduction The purpose of this study was to translate and cross-culturally adapt the original Sensory Profile 2 questionnaires to Persian and access the psychometric properties of the adapted questionnaires.Method The translation and cultural adaptation of the original questionnaires were carried out under the published guidelines. Furthermore, we employed the multiple methods to establish the validity and reliability of the Sensory Profile 2 questionnaires. We calculated the content validity, internal consistency, and test–retest, along with the standard error of measurement. The study included 1272 children, between 0 and 14 years old, without any disabilities. They were selected from child developmental centers and elementary and middle schools of Tehran, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran.Results The item-level content validity index and the scale-level were satisfactory for all the items, quadrant, section, and factor of the Sensory Profile 2. The values of alpha for all questionnaires were ranged from 0.67 to 0.91. Furthermore, the test–retest reliability values for all questionnaires ranged from 0.72 to 0.95.Conclusions The Sensory Profile 2-Persian version can considered as a valid and reliable tool for utilization in Persian-speaking children between 0 and 14 years old.

In Asia, which has a rapidly aging population, dementia is the most prominent disease. This article presents an application of Latent Growth Mixture Model (LGMM) to identify classes of individual Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and other dementias Years Lived with Disability (YLD) rates for Asian and North African countries based on the unobserved heterogeneity. The AD and other dementias YLD data for both sexes and age-standardized groups reported by the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study database during 1990–2015 for 55 Asian and North African countries were analyzed via LGMM. Findings of LGMMs identified four classes of YLD trajectories. Among the specified classes, a class was related to a single country (Turkey) with the highest starting point in 1990 (intercept of 218.52 per 100,000) and upward trend. Another class with increasing trend (a slope of 2.66 per 100,000) consisted of India, China, Singapore, Japan, and Egypt. Other countries in Asia and North Africa (Classes 3 and 4) had a downward trend of YLD rates. The upward trend for some parts of Asia and North Africa might be attributed to appropriate therapeutic strategies, higher levels of awareness, related medical cares, and increase in life expectancy in these countries.

Background: Body dissatisfaction has been known as an important public health concern that can influence the physical and psycho-social health of adolescents. Hence, health professionals need a valid and reliable tool to assess this problem and its related factors in youth. This study aims to develop and assess the psychometric properties of an indigenous scale for the evaluation of body image and to investigate its association with body weight status among Iranian adolescents. Methods: This study was conducted on 857 adolescents who completed the body image scale for Youth (BISY) and self-reported their body weight and height. Face, content, and construct validity methods were used to assess the validity of the BISY. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was used to assess construct validity. Moreover, the internal consistency of the scale was assessed by calculating Cronbach’s alpha coefficient (α), and test–retest reliability was examined using the intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC). To compare the BISY scores across sex and body weight status groups, the Independent samples t-test and the analysis of variance (ANOVA) or Welch tests were used, respectively. Results: Mean age and body mass index (BMI) of participants were 16.5 ± 1.1 years and 22.4 ± 4.5 kg/m2, respectively. The EFA showed a 10-factor construct which explained 57% of the variance. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for overall items of the scale was 0.896 and ranged from 0.42 to 0.92 for subscales. The test–retest reliability result was acceptable for the BISY (ICC = 0.805). The ICC values ranged from 0.753 to 0.990 for BISY subscales. The BISY total score was significantly higher in girls compared to boys (34.8 ± 12.7 vs. 31.3 ± 10.2; p< 0.001). In girls, the BISY total score was significantly lower in normal-weight girls compared to their overweight (p= 0.009), and obese (p= 0.012) counterparts. This difference was not observed in boys. Conclusion: These findings support the reliability and validity of the BISY for the assessment of body image in Iranian adolescents; this scale can be applied as an appropriate tool for the assessment of body image in adolescents in related future studies. Current findings highlight considering body image as an important aspect of intervention programs targeting overweight and obesity in adolescents, specifically girls. Plain English summary: Negative body image has been known as an important public health concern that can adversely influence different aspects of adolescents’ health. Hence, a valid and reliable tool is necessary to identify adolescents at risk of developing negative body image and its related disorders. There is a lack of an indigenous scale that can comprehensively assess body image and its related factors in Iranian adolescents; hence, the current study aimed to develop and assess the psychometric properties of an indigenous scale for evaluation of body image and further investigate the association between body image and body weight status among Iranian adolescents. The current findings support the reliability and validity of the BISY. In addition, more negative body images were observed in girls compared to boys and in overweight/obese girls compared to their normal-weight counterparts. Therefore, promoting a healthy body image should be incorporated as an important component of future health promotion programs to address obesity, eating disorders, and other health-related concerns among adolescents, specifically girls.

To offer comprehensive and high-quality nursing care, critical care nurses not only provide critical care to patients but also attend to the psychological and social needs of patients and their families.

Dysphagia is a symptom, commonly found in healthcare residents and the elderly, may lead to undernutrition and negative effects on quality of life. Providing special food products that cannot only be swallowed by patients but also meet nutritional requirements is a challenge for food rheologists and healthcare staff. The purpose of this paper was to review the literature on rheological aspects of dysphagia-oriented products. Also, some suggestions were proposed for better exploitation of rheological data in the field of dysphagia-rheology.

The article discusses research on the effectiveness of massage therapy in addressing infantile colic, conducted by Samaneh Mansouri and colleagues, published in the November 2018 online issue of "Pediatric Health, Medicine & Therapeutics" journal. Topics explored include the massage sessions administered to colicky infants, observations on the frequency and duration of infant crying during the intervention period, and the improvement in sleep duration in infants that received massage.

Although tuberculosis (TB) is curable, the rate of failure and mortality is high in comparison to other infectious diseases worldwide. It has been shown that majority of TB patients leave treatment before completing the therapeutic regimen. The aftermath of incomplete regimens might result in drug resistant-TB bacilli (DR-TB), relapses, and death. For this reason, proper knowledge about the disease and associated risk factor is crucial to decreasing TB cases among the general population. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the associated factors and competing events among pulmonary tuberculosis patients.
