Melt flow can significantly change the transport of heat and solute, dendrite growth. In this work, a phase-field lattice-Boltzmann model was developed to study α-Mg dendrite growth of Mg-5wt%Zn alloy with forced convection. Results show that the existence of forced convection and overlap of thermal and solute fields makes thermal and solute fields distribution nonuniform. Thus, the symmetry of dendrite morphology is destroyed. The solid temperature and concentration of the downstream dendrite tip front with forced convection are higher than that without forced convection, while the concentration of the upstream dendrite tip front is lower. The solute transport through melt flow will be hindered by developed sidebranching. With flow velocity increase, the upstream temperature gradient and thickness of the downstream solute enrichment layer increase gradually, while the downstream temperature gradient and thickness of the upstream solute enrichment layer decrease gradually. Meanwhile, the upstream dendrite tip velocity will increase gradually, while the downstream dendrite tip velocity will decrease at first and then unchanged. This study is helpful to establish the relationship between α-Mg dendrite growth and melt flow, which is beneficial to understand the role of melt flow on dendrite morphologies.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication after liver transplantation (LT) and is an indicator of poor prognosis. The establishment of a more accurate preoperative prediction model of AKI could help to improve the prognosis of LT. Machine learning algorithms provide a potentially effective approach.

When detecting torque with surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonator sensors, the real strain of the host structure is not exactly consistent with the strain of SAW resonator due to material mismatch and the finite-thickness adhesive problem. A 3-layer (host structure, adhesive, and resonator layer) model is established. Finite-element Analysis (FEA) was used to investigate the strain transfer from the metal substrate to the SAW resonator (SAWR) through a bonding layer. The results show that the values of the strain transfer rate of FEA agree well with the experimental data. It can be concluded that FEA is of great value for SAW sensor design and sensing applications.

The demonstration of batch-to-batch consistency to confirm the reliability of the manufacturing process has become a mandatory step in vaccine development. This is a post-hoc analysis aimed to provide more solid evidence on the immunogenicity and consistency of 3 consecutive batches of a novel inactivated enterovirus 71 (EV71) vaccine. In total 10 245 healthy Chinese children aged 6–35 months had been recruited and randomized to receive one of 3 batches of EV71 vaccine or placebo according to a two-dose immunization schedule in a phase 3 clinical trial. Blood samples were taken just before and 28 days after vaccinations for serological tests of EV71 neutralizing antibody (NTAb) titer from the subjects. Among them, 7263 (70.9%) subjects with seronegative EV71 NTAb at baseline and the data of serological tests post-vaccination available were included for the analysis. The results showed that EV71 vaccine elicited high geometric mean titers (GMTs) of 407.0 U/mL (95% CI, 373.5–443.6) for batch 1, 468.1 U/mL (95% CI, 432.2–507.0) for batch 2, and 520.6 U/mL (95% CI, 481.2–563.3) for batch 3. The two-sided 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the GMT ratios between each pair of vaccine batches were all within an interval of [0.67, 1.5]. Subjects who received EV71 vaccines demonstrated significant higher GMTs than those received placebos did (P< 0.001). In terms of incidence of both local and general adverse reactions, no differences were found among 3 vaccine batches and placebos. EV71 vaccine was highly immunogenic in children, and the 3 consecutive batches were well consistent.

The finite element software ANSYS/CivilFEM was applied to analyses the influence of steel bar restraint on creep and shrinkage of reinforced concrete. The analysis results are in good agreement with the experiment results. When the reinforcement ratio is low, the steel bar exerts less influence on creep and shrinkage, and the influence of steel bar can be neglected in engineering application. However, the reinforcement can effectively reduce creep and shrinkage development when the reinforcement ratio is high.

As a result of poor local research performance and short of the population diversity in niche genetic algorithm (NGA), an improved niche genetic algorithm (I-NGA) is presented in this paper. The algorithm adopts migration strategy, grading gradient method and gene equilibrium strategy, and it has better performance on accelerating the convergence rate and increasing the population diversity. This approach is used in Camel function for confirming. Through comparisons to NGA and I-NGA, the improved algorithm shows its better optimization.

The metal organic series in Southern Jiangxi is the series of W & U deposits closely related with the Late Yanshanian granite within the South China fold system and the uplift belt. To the west of Wuyi tectonic belt, distinctly the uranium mineralized posterior to the tungsten, however to the east of Wuyi tectonic belt, the W-Mo-bearing grease negation quartz vein let remarkably cut off the U-bearing silicified fractured zone.

A vaccine for enterovirus 71 (EV71) is needed to address the high burden of disease associated with infection. We assessed the efficacy, safety, immunogenicity, antibody persistence, and immunological correlates of an inactivated alum-adjuvant EV71 vaccine.

Enterovirus 71 (EV71) outbreaks are a socioeconomic burden, especially in the western Pacific region. Results of phase 1 clinical trials suggest an EV71 vaccine has a clinically acceptable safety profile and immunogenicity. We aimed to assess the best possible dose and formulation, immunogenicity, and safety profile of this EV71 vaccine in healthy Chinese children.

In order to obtain shrinkage and creep of HPC used in Sutong continuous rigid-frame bridge, shrinkage and creep of plain concrete and RC are investigated under natural environment over two years. Reinforcement ratio 0.76% is close to that of the middle span. Loading stress of creep test is about 15MPa, which is near the maximum stress of the bridge. Four loading ages, 7d, 14d, 21d and 28d, were used to simulate different loading ages in construction. The curves of creep and shrinkage were fitted from test values. The results show the test values of creep and shrinkage were less than the current Chinese bridge code JTG D62-2004, and the creep and shrinkage of RC is less than plain concrete. If the reinforcement ratio is low, reinforcement exerts less influence on creep and shrinkage, and the influence of reinforcement can be neglected in engineering application. Reinforcement can effectively reduce creep and shrinkage if the reinforcement ratio is high.

Enterovirus 71 (EV71) is highly contagious and can cause severe complications. A safe and effective vaccine is needed. We assessed the reactogenicity and immunogenicity of an inactivated, alum-adjuvanted EV71 vaccine in this study.

In this open labeled phase 1 clinical trial with enterovirus 71 (EV71) vaccine (ClinicalTrials.gov number: NCT01267903) performed in Donghai County, Jiangsu Province, China, in January 2011. A total of 100 healthy participants, stratified by age (40 adults aged 16–22 y and 60 children aged 6–15 y), were enrolled from volunteers and sequentially received EV71 vaccines of 160U (only for children), 320U, or 640U on day 0 and 28, in a manner of dose escalation. All the participants were followed for 28 d after each shot. During the study period, 37 participants reported at least one injection-site or systemic adverse reaction. No case of grade 3 adverse reaction or serious adverse event (SAE) was observed. Also no dose-related increase in reaction rate was noticed. Pain at injection-site and fever were the most frequently reported local and systematic reaction, respectively. The studied EV71 vaccines demonstrated acceptable tolerability and no anti-nuclear antibody (ANA) seropositive was detected pre or post vaccinations in participants. Also, no clinically significant abnormal change for the liver or kidney function indexes was found. In the according-to-protocol cohort for immunogenicity, it was observed one dose of EV71 vaccine elicited good immune response in the participants, especially for the ones with sero-positive baseline. No obvious dose-response relationship for immunogenicity was found. This study was co-founded by Beijing Vigoo Biological Co., LTD and Chinese governmental grants (2008BAI69B01 and 2009ZX10004–806).

Abstract: Objective: To summarize the clinical characteristics and treatment effects of Burkitt lymphoma (BL) and Burkitt-like lymphoma (BLL), and to explore the best possible optimal regimens and the treatment-related complications. Methods: Clinical data of 13 BL and BLL patients, who were pathologically diagnosed and treated in the Beijing Cancer Hospital from August 1996 to October 2008, were retrospectively analyzed. All patients received the therapeutic regimen with chemotherapy as the first-line treatment. The treatment effect and adverse reactions were evaluated. Results: Of the 13 patients, 12 were men and 1 was woman, with a median age of 15 years (range, 11–62). Three of the patients were in stage I, 2 in stage II, 2 in stage III, and 6 in stage IV. Advanced cases were 8 (stage III and IV), accounting for 61.5% of the patients. Bone marrow involvement was found in 2 cases (15.4%) and central nervous system invasion in 4 (30.8%) at the beginning of the treatment. The common involved sites included the superficial lymph nodes (61.5%), abdominal organs (53.8%), and abdominal and retro-peritoneal lymph nodes (38.5%). B symptoms were observed in 7 patients (53.8%). Serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) level was increased in 8 of the 10 patients who underwent the serum LDH determination, while serum uric acid level was increased in 1 of the 10. Pathological diagnosis showed that 11 of the cases were BL and 2 BLL. Of the 13 patients, 11 (84.6%) achieved a complete remission (CR) or CR/unconfirmed (CRu), and 1 (7.7%) a partial remission (PR), with a total responsive rate of 92.3%. At a median follow-up of 8 months (range 5–35), 6 patients were found dead at the end of the follow-up. One of the 13 patients was lost to the follow-up. The 1-year overall survival, progression-free survival, and disease-free survival rates were 56.98%, 32.31% and 39.77%, respectively. The grade-III or IV myelosuppression was found in 9 patients during the chemotherapy (69.2%), and tumor lysis syndrome and grade-IV total gastrointestinal mucositis were seen in 1. Conclusion: Intensive short-course chemotherapy is recommended as the optimal first-line treatment for BL and BLL, and actively preventive treatments for chemotherapy-related adverse reactions are essential in the treatment course.

A smart home structure using network (internet, intranet, wireless etc.) is designed and developed to monitor the circumstances and control the appliances in the house when sensors are triggered by some unexpected cases. A good host of low-cost sensors is used to make anti theft alarm, fire alarm, smog alarm etc. And then transmitted these data got from the measuring devices to neutral module. The neutral module is constructed by ARM-S3C6410 hardware and embedded Linux. It can transmit messages to the householders after processed. The householders can visit the web server to make it clear what happened in the house. Moreover, they can control some appliances to make incidences back to normal through the Internet. If the owners are holding mobile phones, the neutral module will transmit text messages to them. In turn, they can also control the appliances by sending some specific instructions. And then the neutral module will give some other messages as feedback. Additionally, visible interphone technology also makes function in this system. A LCD is organized in the neutral module, one person who stays in the house can make a good conversation with others through neutral platform. Finally, a series of experiments are posed to estimate the performance of our solution.

Objective: To improve the efficacy of refractory midfacial peripheral T-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (MPTC-NHL) with L-asparaginase (L-ASP) based salvage chemotherapy. Methods: 21 patients with refractory MPTC-NHL were analyzed, 11patients (L-ASP group) received L-asparaginase based salvage chemotherapy consisting of L-asparaginase, vincristine and dexame-thosone. 10 patients (control group) received salvage combination chemotherapy without L-asparaginase. Results: Complete remission rates were 45.6% for L-ASP group and 0.0% for control group (P<0.05). Overall response rates (CR+PR) were 63.6% for L-ASP group and 10.0% for control group, respectively (P<0.05). 2-year survival rates were 45.5% for L-ASP group and 0.0% for control group (P<0.05). The major adverse effects of L-ASP were leukopenia, elevation of serum bilirubin and hyperglycemia. Conclusion: The preliminary clinical study shows that the L-ASP based salvage chemotherapy may improve the response rate and 2-year survival rate of the patients with refractory MPTC-NHL. It is necessary to continue the study further.
