Are we defined by the words we use? To what extent the words we chose determine our speech? Can words exert violence? This article puts forward the results and findings of a survey carried out with a group of college students on the use of flattering and hate speech. The survey confirms the extended use of sexist language and foremore the use of hate speech. In our theoretical approach we take into consideration Judith Butler's theory of hate speech and performativity. As a final discussion, and being aware of the importance of gender-based violence, we propose an intervention in the educational curricula in order to contribute to the erradication of violence in any form related to speech acts and at the same time we aim to promote respect and tolerance by changing the educational system. This article's main claim is that rules of international law governing conditions for existence of sources of law in international law can exist and be created through the sources which such rules govern. Sources of law are fundamental in international law, principally as legal bases for determining questions as to creation and identification of principles and rules of international law, and, thus, of high practical importance. Albeit their relevance is largely undisputed, and there is renewed interest in them, their treatment in scholarly literature continues to be fraught with unsettled controversies. of paramount significance from among such controversies is that of the possibility of rules of international law determining what conducts constitute sources of law in international law, which concerns 'conditions for existence.' The possibility of rules governing such conditions for existence is claimed to arise in connection with, amongst others, two properties predicable of the application and creation of such rules, respectively: self-reflectivity and performativity. This article sets out arguments disproving the standard position in scholarly literature, which denies the possibility of the rules under examination, and considers some major implications of the prima facie existence of rules of customary international law governing 'conditions for existence'. 'Transmission: Dramaturgical Bodies' reflects on the experience of the creation and rehearsal process of Tanya Marquardt's play Transmission. It recognizes aspects of the process that were unique to the collaborative team, while identifying larger principles at work in the dramaturgical system for the piece. Quoting from emails with creator Tanya Marquardt, the article describes the creative genesis and rehearsal strategies that developed the ensemble while generating material. Finally, it places the dramaturg's body firmly in the midst of the creation process, while recognizing the inherent dramaturgical roles of the actors' bodies as well. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
