Abstract

The article discusses research being done on the use of empiric antiarrhythmic drug treatment in patients with atrial fibrillation who had undergone ablation. It references a study by J. F. Roux et al, presented at the Heart Rhythm 2008 conference in San Francisco, California on May 14-17. Results showed that antiarrhythmic drug treatment after atrial fibrillation reduced the incidence of atrial arrhythmia and need for cardioversion or hospitalization for management of the disease.
