Latest News FROM OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGY Approximately 1 in 40 women are carriers of single genedisorders that could manifest as pregnancy complications, based on data from more than 90,000 individuals. Overall, 66% of the tests were positive for at least one ofthe 274 genes; the frequency of potentially pathogenicvariants for the 12 genes that could manifest ascomplications during pregnancy ranged from 1 in 117individuals for the F11 gene to 1 in 8,331 for the OTCgene. A total of 2.3% of the participant tests were associated apathogenic or likely pathogenic variant in at least 1 ofthe 12 genes, which accounted for 3.5% of all positivesamples, and 2.0% were identified as carriers for 1 of the9 genes that could affect women during pregnancy regardlessof fetal genetic status.
