PUBLIC housing, HOT water, DEMOLITION, POOR people, BUILDING repair
Abstract
NYCHA residents at the Fulton and Elliott-Chelsea complexes in New York City gathered for a public meeting to discuss the potential environmental impacts of a demolition and reconstruction plan. The plan, spearheaded by NYCHA and the Department of Housing and Preservation Development, would involve constructing new towers while most tenants remain in their apartments, and then demolishing the old towers. The meeting was the first of three discussions centered around the project's Environmental Impact Statement. Some residents expressed support for the plan, while others raised concerns about environmental issues and the impact on the community. [Extracted from the article]
