Alan Hollinghurst's 'The Line of Beauty' explores the social spectrum of 1980s Britain, with a focused account on the gay life in London. The novel is a coming out story, which observes the social milieu and psychological nuances under Thatcherism. The paper explores the presence of James as a figure in the fictional world of the book because of Nick's studies. Hollinghurst uses Henry James as a literary agent in order to bring about the moral ambiguities of the characters. This paper examines how Hollinghurst employs the Jamesian presence through the literary techniques of ironies and implications. Alan Hollinghurst has seemingly built a bridge between a contemporary novel and a canonical figure, Henry James, who is growingly recognized as the author of "the gender confusion". In her long poem Solitude (1938) Vita Sackville-West explores the contrast between Nature and books and between Nature and the Christian God as she questions the purpose of life and suffering. While writing in solitude about solitude, the writer is connected to a vast community of other writers and readers. In this paper I show how Sackville-West uses classical allusions as a bridge between pagan Nature and Christian English literary history. From contemporary documents, especially her letters to Virginia Woolf, we can also see how Sackville-West kept an awkward balance in her own life between shyness and desire for connection with others which is reflected in her project of writing new verse in essentially traditional forms. This paper examines the participation of a midget and the conceptualization of human dwarfism within the context of the traveling circus. In the circus program the midget is included in the clowning acts and clowning provides a general paradigm for the conceptualization of dwarfism in the British circus tradition. Clowning itself is included, in one form or another, in all British circus productions. Although clowns constitute a traditional emblem of circus and often appear as a central theme on circus posters, the situation for clowning and clowns themselves in Britain is poor. A number of stock characters provide the traditional models for clowns in Great Britain. In circus clowning, as carried on in Britain in the late 1970s, the fool and the midget performed together. Both the fool and the midget embody a rationalized, secular anxieties of the society. Circus drama seems not only to invoke the existential anxieties of a rationalized, played reality, but also directs them. The notions of self and of human nature by the public seem to rebound through the exclusion of a midget from the play of a clown. But the existential threat, the anxieties which the circus midget gives form to are not eliminated, they are rather both distanced and redefined. It is not only within the performance of the circus show that the discourse of dwarfism in circus is taking place but also in the own offstage lives of performers, their encounters with the public outside the ring, and in daily life in town.

Any state seeking to apply a CCA-style model to the climate challenge should be advised to carefully factor in consideration of what are likely to be complex multitiered capacities and constraints that may arise where a blanket national-level regime is interconnected with a state's particular subnational governance environment (p.126). Meanwhile, CCA is not isolated but rather linked to EU's legal efforts such as some Directives in the sphere of environmental governance (and other areas of governance) which have adopted similar approaches to the CCA.
