The Cleveland Public Library (CPL) in Ohio will begin circulating e-books in March, 2003 with a twist: patrons will be able to access the material at home as well as via a variety of handheld devices. The project represents the first collaboration with a public library launched by the Cleveland-based digital media firm OverDrive. Some 1000 titles initially will be available for use on almost all full-size PCs, laptops, and handhelds. Patricia Lowrey, head of CPL's technical services, says that 'CliffsNotes,' test guides, and computer books may be some of the most popular titles.
