Abstract
The article discusses the Japanese political right-wing's criticisms of former journalist Takashi Uemura over an article he wrote for "The Asahi Shimbun" newspaper examining whether the Japanese Imperial Army forced women to work in military brothels during World War II. Topics addressed include the paper's retraction of a number of articles under pressure from conservatives, as well as revisionist accounts of Japanese history.
