The article reports on the mandatory drug testing of firefighters in the U.S. In the wake of the deaths of firefighters Paul J. Cahill and Warren J. Payne in the Tai Ho Chinese restaurant in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 29, 2007, state officials are considering the mandatory testing. An autopsy of Cahill's blood has found traces of alcohol and cocaine. Several other cities including San Francisco, California, have already started random drug testing of firefighters.
