The article presents the author's experience of participating in the Five Boro Bike Tour to get a free ride on the Staten Island ferry, New York. The author informs how the left pedal of his bike fell off while he was moving along the first-odd miles stretch. He informs how he then spotted a used bicycle shop and got his pedal repaired. After his cycle got repaired, he states how he was back on the road as happy as any 60-year-old can be on a bike with 20 odd miles to cover.
